My husband and I bought a single family home located in an ungated Florida county "PUD," which turned out to be a mandatory HOA "community" with no amenities, and no common areas other than two short walls with the "community" name at the entrance, and a small "island" road divider at the PUD's entrance/exit using county roads.

My comments, etc. arise from the experiences we have suffered living here, e.g. HOA harassment, HOA threats, and ever rising HOA assessments, (demanded by the HOA BoD, their management companies, and their HOA lawyers comprising part of the powerful FL HOA Industry and lobby,) payable under penalty of lien and HOA foreclosure for non-payment.

Our situation has forced us to learn how to cope and deal with the appalling mandatory HOA situation in Florida by researching and learning about HOAs in America. Mandatory HOAs are not a pretty picture, but this picture needs to be publicly exposed and the injustices need to be corrected. Had we known about power-happy, mandatory HOAs and the control and financial extortion they are allowed to exert over the "titleholders" we would never have purchased a house here. Knowing what we now know, we will never again buy a house in a HOA!

Mandatory HOAs must be savagely resisted by any freedom loving persons not wanting to live in apartments, or under the domineering control of an industry bent on dictatorship and increasing "assessments" for their own aggrandizement while circumventing the "constitutional protections" of the serfs living in their fiefdoms. In HOA Land America there are two classes - The Rulers and the ruled.
