Why Reducing, Reusing and Recycling Really *Does* Help the Environment

Every ton of paper recycled a year saves 17 trees and 7000 gallons of water. According to the U.S. EPA, methane is the second largest source of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere, and landfills account for 37% of methane gas output. By reducing and recycling properly organic materials, including paper, we can divert them from landfill, thereby reducing anaerobic decomposition and the production of methane gas.

Under intense pressure from the grassroots and netroots, Congress extended the so-called "Protect America Act" for 15 more days. New deadline: February 16.
We should call Congress immediately + put pressure on to dump the telecom immunity-granting Act altogether. But before we do that, we might as well know something about the misnamed Protect America Act. Because the more we know, the more we will have to say when we call.

An Undiscussed Corner of the Presidential Primary Election Fraud
Here come the NH elections and there is rightfully an outcry concerning the theft of votes from Obama to Clinton. I am glad to see the outcry.
Yet, nobody is crying "Foul" about the fact that the mainstream polls claim that Kucinich is at the bottom of the pile, with only 2% in his favor.
That simply cannot possibly be true, according to all the independent polls he won.

When city councils, county supervisors and State Boards get behind stopping any piece of legislation, there is publicity for it.
Even if there is a media black-out on S. 1959, to get public officials to pass resolutions against it would be to a) get even just the local papers and college newsletters involved in news coverage of the issue b) let the Senate think twice before voting for S. 195
