You Cannot Negotiate With Iran?
(2 comments) Even as US negotiators were reaching agreement with their Iranian counterparts, US representatives and Senators were drafting legislation to increase sanctions on Iran. Instead of listening to the American people, many in Congress seem attached to special interests like the Israel and Saudi lobbies, which oppose anything less than full Iranian capitulation.

How to End the Tragedy in Gaza
(5 comments) US foreign policy being so one-sided actually results in more loss of life and of security on both sides. Surely Israelis do not enjoy the threat of missiles from Gaza nor do the Palestinians enjoy their Israel-imposed inhuman conditions in Gaza. But as long asIsrael can count on its destructive policies being underwritten by the US taxpayer it can continue to engage in reckless behavior.

Ron Paul's farewell address to Congress
(29 comments) At the end of the year I'll leave Congress after 23 years in office over a 36 year period. My goals in 1976 were the same as they are today: promote peace and prosperity by a strict adherence to the principles of individual liberty.

U.S. Moving Towards War in Syria
(43 comments) The United States has no business at all being involved in the Syrian civil war. In the 1980s we supported a resistance movement in Afghanistan that later gave birth to elements of al-Qaeda and the Taliban. When will we learn our lesson and stop intervening in conflicts we don't truly understand, conflicts that have nothing to do with American national interests?

Unconstitutional Uses of Drones Must Stop
(3 comments) The use of drones overseas may have become so convenient, operated as they are from a great distance, that far more "collateral damage" has become acceptable. Collateral damage is a polite way of saying killing innocent civilians. Is the ease of drone use a slippery slope to disregard for justice, and if so what might that mean for us as they become more widely used on American soil against American citizens?

War Drums for Syria?
(3 comments) First, we were told that the killings were caused by government shelling, but then it was discovered that most were killed at close range with handgun fire and knives. No one has explained why government forces would take the time to go house to house binding the hands of the victims before shooting them, and then retreat to allow the rebels in to record the gruesome details.

Obama's Orwellian Logic in Libya
(11 comments) 10 Congressmen from opposite ends of the political spectrum are suing the President over the illegal war in Libya. In a remarkable act of chutzpah, the administration responded, in a nutshell, that the War Powers Resolution is not relevant because US armed forces are not actually engaged in hostilities because Libya is so militarily weak it cannot fight back!

Real Respect for the Constitution
There is no authority in the Constitution for warrantless searches, for the TSA, for the War on Drugs, for secret prisons or detention without trial. When will we reverse this vast, invasive expansion of Federal powers?

Assange has Given us a Gift
(9 comments) Information so far released, though classified, has caused no known harm to any individual, but it has caused plenty of embarrassment to our government. Losing a grip on our empire is not welcomed by the neo-conservatives in charge. Wikileaks has exposed the lie of the Iraq war, just as the Pentagon Papers exposed the lie of Vietnam forty years ago.
