In New York we have the Stop and Frisk law, which is used to harass mainly black and Hispanic males anytime the police feel like it without probable cause. This has resulted in racial profiling, illegal stops, and ignoring of privacy rights. And guess what? It's only a matter of time before this draconian practice moves out into the rest of the population.
Monday, July 1, 2013 Mr. President, I want a "divorce." (3 comments)
After 9/11 Congress gave the government a blank check, and thus began the surveillance state. Now 70% of this mass spying is privatized, with little or no government oversight. They've built huge computers in Utah to house all the data. Several whistleblowers have come forward to report the abuse, which included a spying program called Trailblazer that used $6 billion in taxpayer money and was a total bust.
Saturday, February 9, 2013 Hedges v. Obama: Did the Bill of Rights die today? (19 comments)
The corporate takeover of our government and the erosion of our civil liberties continue and if it's allowed to continue unabated then we are truly done for. We will be a full-blown corporate police state with no rights and no jobs. We'll be a penal colony. A third world country filled with serfs and warlords. Hedges affirms, " All these laws are being put through by design ."
Thursday, January 31, 2013 Central Park Five: A Travesty of Justice (16 comments)
The Central Park Five case is an excellent example of how broken our system of justice is. At this point it functions more as a system of injustice . Systemic corruption runs throughout our entire judicial system. These kids were thrown into prison for a crime they didn't commit while not one banker who caused the global meltdown has been questioned let alone prosecuted. Whistleblowers are being prosecuted for exposing war

I'm always amazed when Americans express their shock at yet another mass shooting when we live in a culture awash in violence. In fact, we glorify violence. It's produced, packaged and promoted by Hollywood, television and video games. We live in a country where we shoot first and ask questions later or not at all. The NRA drafted the "stand your ground" law, which caused the senseless murder of Travon Martin
Tuesday, November 13, 2012 Go Back to Sleep America (10 comments)
"We the people" have the power yet we stand silent to these
corporate forces and merely obey as our rights are stripped away; our jobs sent overseas, our homes foreclosed upon. We turn a blind eye to Obama's drone attacks, illegal wars, collateral damage, "Kill List," assassinations of American citizens, the signing of the NDAA and H.R. 347. And like the Germans in the 1930's we remain mute to these atrocities.
Thursday, November 1, 2012 Does Voting Even Matter? (32 comments)
I no longer believe my vote counts. Both the 2000 and 2004 elections were stolen. I realize whoever is really in charge controls the ballot box and the new electronic voting machines were installed for a reason.
I for one will not collude with my own demise. I refuse to play along with the corporate oligarchy. A system based on greed and propped up by lies, war, distraction and illusions.
I will vote Green.
Wednesday, October 17, 2012 Bearing Witness to 11 Years of an Illegal War of Aggression. (11 comments)
Evil triumphs when good people do nothing. Americans have allowed and are colluding with our own demise. We remain silent just like the German were. We are obedient and compliant. We merely obey. We stand mute and docile as they radiate us at airports or pass the NDAA in the dead of night and never so much as a whimper from the brainwashed, non thinking, non questioning consumers who genuflect to the lies and misdeeds.
Tuesday, October 9, 2012 Will We Allow New York To Be Fracked Too? (4 comments)
We've been warned. Will we allow New York to become just another sacrifice zone so the fossil fuel industry can pollute our water, contaminate our land and frack billions in profits? It's up to us to ban fracking. It can be done. It's been banned in France and Vermont. Not much but it's a start.
We must keep the pressure on.
Saturday, September 29, 2012 Announcing "Is It Fascism Now?" on Amazon.com (22 comments)
Sample from a new ebook, "Is It Fascism Yet?" complete with photos from OWS rallies and image by political satirist, Tracy Knauss. These writings are a call to action. We must all stand up to the corporate forces of darkness that threaten our very existence and say, "Enough! No more! Not on my watch!" We deserve to live in a clean, healthy, peaceful world but it is up to us to make this happen. Another world is possible.
Sunday, September 16, 2012 Bill Clinton Rides Again but This Time He Keeps His Pants On (5 comments)
Yes, with the passage of Citizens United by our right wing Supreme Court, corporations are now people and can pour untold billions into our political elections to buy up candidates at will. Like Elizabeth Warren said at the convention, "The system is rigged," and both parties take their marching orders from Wall Street, the big banks, corporations and the 1%. Running for office is big business and has nothing to do with "we
Thursday, May 10, 2012 America's Dark Night of the Soul (2 comments)
America's become a horrible addict. She's addicted to oil, war, murder, TV, mindless entertainment, hatred of the other, violence, junk food, gambling, porn, sex, drugs, alcohol and greed. Did I leave anything out? She's out of control, living in denial and on borrowed time, as all addicts do, and needs an intervention. That's where we come in.
Saturday, February 18, 2012 Angry? You're Damn Straight I'm Angry. Roger That. (14 comments)
After reading Lt. Col. Daniel L. Davis' first hand account of his recent time spent in Afghanistan I'm more pissed off then ever. Yet another military officer comes forward to tell the truth about yet another ill-fated war we find ourselves engaged in. Another illegal war of aggression with no end in sight and surround sound corruption aided and abetted by an enabling government and a bloated military too full of its own hub
Saturday, January 7, 2012 Is Obama the Trojan Horse, A Psychopath, A Bad Boyfriend or all Three? (77 comments)
The Obama brand is collapsing just as the Bush brand before him became so craven even the most deluded had to recognize the fraud that had been perpetrated upon the American
For those of you who still don't see it you're sort of like the Bushies who believed in the Iraq war and defended the honesty and integrity of their fearless leader no matter how many lies he told. I guess it may prove the old adage. Love re
Thursday, December 1, 2011 Occupy Providence (1 comments)
Seems peaceful assembly is a little too radical for the corporate powers that be. But this is what democracy looks like and I for one am so grateful for the Occupy movement. I kept thinking the young people have to get involved. We need their energy, their consciousness, their compassion, their sense of truth and justice and low and behold they have come forth to reclaim their birthright and take back our country.
Thursday, November 24, 2011 There Is No Honor In Police Brutality (2 comments)
Across our nation our police forces have been turned into Para military units complete with tanks, tasers, riot gear, sound guns, machine guns, mace, etc. And they are using this force against unarmed, nonviolent protesters. I realize not all police are guilty of this but what does it say about a system of government that allows this violence to occur? What is the difference between Hitler's SS storm troopers and our
Thursday, July 14, 2011 Is the Debt Crisis Just Another Trumped Up Scam to Steal Social Security? (2 comments)
We're all heard the hysteria, "If America doesn't raise the debt ceiling she'll default on her loans for the first time in our nations history." Everyone in Washington is in a panic. All the Chicken Little's are running around proclaiming, "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" The corporate media picks up the mantra and echoes it throughout the land. "The sky is falling! The sky is falling." Now everyone's i
Tuesday, June 28, 2011 CAN VAN JONES GALVANIZE US TO REBUILD THE AMERICAN DREAM? (5 comments)
Van Jones is calling all people of conscience who care about America to get involved, stand up and help rebuild the American Dream. Thursday evening I attended the "Rebuild the Dream" event in New York City hosted by Van Jones, featuring the musical group ROOTS with Shepard Fairey DJing. I admit I was skeptical. Is this a front group for Obama's reelection campaign because honestly if that's what this is I'm not interested.
Monday, May 23, 2011 "Too Big To Fail" - The Movie (1 comments)
In the spirit of full disclosure, I had the amazing good fortune to work with Mr. Hurt on this project for 10 weeks as we went through that script over and over again. I looked up every financial term (CDO's, Credit Default Swaps, Margin Call, AIG, Fanny Mae/ Freddie Mac, every CEO, every bank, every everything) and made a glossary of all of these terms. I mean who ever heard of most of this stuff let alone understands it?
Wednesday, May 11, 2011 When Will the Killing End? (4 comments)
Sunday night when I learned of the death of Osama Bin Laden I did not feel elated, I did not hop on the #1 subway and head to ground zero, nor did I celebrate in the streets, drink champagne or chant USA, USA, USA! Honestly, I wish he'd been brought in alive and put on trial like we did at Nuremberg. I'd like to hear what he had to say and expose him for who and what he was. I prefer justice to murder or assassination.
