They're Back! Women's Voices Women Vote Sowing Confusion Again With "Registration Drive"
The DC non profit "Women's Voices Women Vote" is at it again confusing voters & burying election officials in unneccesary paperwork. WVWV did this to 26 states in the 2008 and in 2007 - pumping out registration forms seemingly willie nillie to 6 & 14 yr olds, deceased persons, registered voters, even to Rosemary Rodriguez. One way to disenfranchise voters is to "gum up" the system that enfranchises them.

Have Third Parties Been "Punked" By Instant Runoff?
Third party members and alot of people have just been seriously punked by Instant Runoff Voting. It may take them a few years to figure it out, but it will be too late then. IRV hurts third parties. Just look at the history of IRV in real life

Is Instant Runoff Voting Hurting Minorities in Takoma Park Maryland?
The latest talking point of Instant Runoff Voting advocates is that IRV "can empower communities of color". Well "the truth is out there" right there in Fair Votes' own back yard. It turns out that Takoma Park Maryland, the home base for IRV, has Zero NADA minority representation. "All of its elected officials are white." And voter turnout flat out sucks.

Instant Runoff Means Touch Screen Tricks in North Carolina
(6 comments)
Fads trump election transparency.(electronic voting?). Since North Carolina passed its paper ballot law, its been harder to mess up the vote. So here comes Instant Runoff Voting, which is hardly transparent. NC tested IRV in 2007, and found a "creative" 100 plus steps method to count IRV on touchscreens. This may get a test again in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Why bother working for verified voting when it gets undone so easily?

Update on Robo Calls in NC - Investigation Heats Up - African Americans Key Victims
(2 comments)
The investigation into the illegal robo calls targeting African Americans in North Carolina is expanding. Although NC's Atty General has said the calls are illegal, high profile voting advocates are shying away from the "politically incorrect" story. They are not comfortable reporting since the scam benefits a democratic candidate for president. I guess its only voter fraud if republicans are tied to it. Double standard?

The Voting Literacy Test of the 21st Century
(6 comments)
IRV, the Voter Literacy Test of the 21st Century. Today's barriers to voting are becoming more sophisticated and promoted sometimes by people we trust and respect. Why would we allow a voting method that we know will disenfranchise certain segments of voters from the get-go? This is not moral.

Politicized DOJ Issues License to Purge Voters to North Carolina
The DOJ wants to purge 10% of North Carolina's votes. They sent a "license to purge" to our top election officials. More votes are lost by deliberate voter supression than any other method. North Carolina election officials turned down the "invite to purge", but will your election officials? See the memo from the DOJ, and how incorrect information was used to build a case to purge.

Overthrowing Successful Activism 101 - Or Maintaining the status quo of failing election systems.
Since 2003, Congressman Rush Holt has worked to get legislation to protect the elections of all 50 states. National groups and activists have been key to this effort. Now that HR 811 gets closer to passing, has a "pseudo activism" or counter-effort emerged?

New: Voting Machine Companies to Congress - ALL YOUR VOTES BELONG TO US
(1 comments)
The Voting Machine Lobby reacts to amendments to the Help America Vote Act. In the Vendor Lobby's letter to congress, it becomes clear: Amendments to HAVA will hurt voting machine companies, the audits will provide an inconvenient truth, and the ban on toilet paper ballot will stick us with lots of unsold inventory. Vendors are not ready to give up their private control of our elections.
