Lieberman At Hagee Conference: U.S. Should Attack Iran because God Hates Israel's Enemies
(10 comments) On Tuesday Joe Lieberman went ahead with his speech for Rev. Hagee despite protest by 42,000 outraged Americans. Pandering to Christian fundamentalist end-timers who predict the annihilation of the Jewish people is part of God's plan, Lieberman stretched wildly the case for action against Iran, yet still hasn't offered evidence of any credible threat to U.S. interests.

Is Your Elected Rep In Bed With Rev. Hagee?
Sign the petition to Senator Joe Lieberman, DEMOCRATIC Congressman Eliot Engel of NY and Rep. Mark Pence of Indiana who are speaking at Pastor Hagee's CUFI conference on July 22. Should elected U.S. political figures condone a group that believes all Jews will be annihilated? How about their call for pre-emptive military strikes against Iran?

ClearChannel Come Clean: Was Limbaugh on McClellan's Fax List?
Yes or no, ClearChannel, was Rush on the list of right wing pundits receiving faxes of White House talking points from Scott McClellan's office? Demand a statement on the occasion of Rush Limbaugh's $400 million dollar contract for "entertainment" (whitewashing relevant facts and perspective).

Jewish-American PAC Boasts of Instigating War With Iran
(3 comments) Though AIPAC gets most of the credit, see how another pro-Israeli PAC boasted of their influence over your US Senators and Representatives, resulting in H.Con.Res.362, a bill calling for military action against Iran via naval blockade.

Obama Vowed To Support Filibuster of Telecom Immunity Bill
(19 comments) UPDATED: Sen. Dodd is considering an amendment striking the Telco Immunity Provision. TAKE ACTION: Weigh in on Obama's vote for telecom immunity, an unfortunate reversal of his own vow to suport any filibuster of such legislation. Email the Obama campaign spokesman who publicized this "vow" today!

NY Congressman Mulls Hagee Appearance
Will Eliot Engel (D-NY) join Joe Lieberman and Bill Kristol in appearing at the annual summit for controversial pastor John Hagee later this July? See shocking footage of the 2007 event for CUFI (Christians United for Israel) and decide if this is a worthy political cause, or a well-funded cult of apocalyptic zealots pushing for war with Iran.

Cleaning Our Congress: I Just Found my Rep. Makes Speeches for Rev. Hagee
(1 comments) As we tune in more seriously to Congressional races, it's surprising how little we know about our Congressional reps. Turn up the radar now! I found out my Rep. barely represents my Democratic NY district. I knew he was pro-business and pro-war but I never knew he was speaking at Rev. Hagee's religio-political conferences, or that he was moonlighting for Israel's most extreme right wing hawks! Vigilance...

ABC News Shielding Cheney after DC Madam Hanging?
(7 comments) Palfrey's purported suicide raises the stakes in the game between the public and ABC News, who tried to close Pandora's Box after Dick Cheney's number flew out. Palfrey's handwritten note complains of a"modern day lynching", eerily forecasting her impending manner of death.

Taking a Proper Gander at Sean Hannity
(2 comments) The second in the "Worst of America" series, we analyze Hannity's campaign to manipulate public perception of Obama, deconstructing Hannity's exploitation of a fanatical black preacher to paint himself as heroic. Looking through his tricks and imbalance, we ask if Hannity's actions actually run counter to the core precepts of Conservatism.

The Polarizer and The Unifier: A Reasoned Look
(3 comments) As it drags on, the Hillary-Obama debate gets more vicious - we've now seen polarization across gender, race, age, class and ideology. But we've also seen many firsts: cleaner campaign fundraising, record turn-outs, record youth blocs, record first-time voter blocs, and a new "standard for candor". Can you guess which candidate is the divider and which is calmly building all these bridges?

Hannity and Limbaugh: The Worst of America?
(19 comments) The broadcasts of Rush Limbaugh/Sean Hannity actually run counter to the core tenets of traditional Conservatism: fiscal responsibility, small, unintrusive government and high morals. They also meet the historic definition of propagandists, trashing American ethical tradition in advocating war, snooping, consumerism and media consolidation which has made these "entertainers" personally rich and dangerously powerful.

United States of Amnesia? Cheney's DC Madam Problem
(7 comments) The Vice President's bigger prostitution scandal was reported, then un-reported by ABC News after alleged White House intervention. Cheney's scandal is bigger and murkier then Spitzer's, tying in the DOJ firings, an unsolved murder, Abramoff, a sitting Senator, Giuliani, Kerik and a curious 180 by Disney/ABC...

Using the Idea of Obama to End the Fear and Loathing
How this campaign has begun changing political thought into moral thought at last. A discusion of logic, emotion, strategy and the contagious wave of transformation from bitter people who are afraid to talk to our neighbors, to a new generation of Americans that want to take responsibility and take action.

Hillary's Baggage: Bad Votes, Scandals and Polarization
(2 comments) In the general election, Billary's baggage will drag the national debate downward - you can almost hear the GOP licking their chops! Hillary's pro-war positions were dimly thought out, even gullible - but looking at healthcare in NY since 2001, Hillary backed down and then took payouts from the health insurance bad guys. Take it from a disappointed New Yorker...name recognition isn't enough.

Report: Americans Hogging World Resources
The unsustainable overconsumption of the West is the key to upcoming environmental, economic and political strife - and it's largely unnecessary. The problem in the U.S. is that we are bred from birth to consume, because unlike many in the rest of the developed world, we buy things to fulfill childlike illusions about ourselves, not out of practical need.

Another "Anti-War" NY Representative Explains Why He Won't Impeach
(3 comments) Freshman Rep. John Hall calls for strong censure of Bush/Cheney, supporting investigations and inquests for multiple White House abuses and violations, yet stops short of signing on for impeachment hearings. Hear his rationale, including his contention that no matter how the hearings would play out "no article of impeachment would result in a conviction in the Senate".

Hillary vs. Kucinich: the battle for the Democratic Party
(7 comments) If you want to send the Democratic Party a message on primary day, let them know how you feel about being misrepresented, taken for granted and ignored after the 2006 elections. But how do US voters choose for 2008? Sadly, for decades we've been voting for the wrong reasons: appearance, electability, media coverage and financial backing.

Bush Startlingly Inept in Answering Question About Military Contractor Accountability
(6 comments) Hear your President cornered on an issue important to the American people, admitting he has no idea what is going on concerning legal governance of privatized armed forces in Iraq. Hear the President gloss over the importance of contractor accountability during the period the DOJ is now alleged to have helped cover up the Halliburton gang rape.

How Media and Advertising Breed Americans to Be Eternally Childlike Consumers
(3 comments) Americans still can't even recognize what the last 100 years of media manipulation has wrought - a gullible nation, marching towards our own destruction. Bernaysian manipulation and the Bush presidency has brought to light how each family needs to re-evaluate how we educate our children because we are, at present, a nation of suckers being bled dry by industries who sell us empty fantasies.

Why we need to learn the name Sibel Edmonds
What's the tie between the Valerie Plame affair, the DoJ scandal, ten million missing White House emails and mishandling of crucial intel regarding suspects involved in 9-11? Everything, says whistleblower Sibel Edmonds - but the US media won't touch it and Congress won't hold hearings...so far.

NY Congressman Won't Sign On For Impeachment Because of Political Baggage
(3 comments) Congressional Rep. Eliot Engel has cosponsored several House bills seeking to expose the President for using faulty intel to justify the Iraqi invasion, torture, eavesdropping, contractor fraud and more. Despite these aims paralleling a House resolution seeking investigations for impeachment, Engel won't sign on. Read why and see why politicians like Engel and regular American families have little in common.

Don't give your voter mojo away! REFUSE TO REGISTER WITH A PARTY
(7 comments) State party bosses are secretive, rat-tailed cheaters who pimp the American people out for the millions raised by front-running candidates. This, because Democrats and Republicans boast memberships over a quarter of the entire nation's population. Voters can regain power from the RNC and DNC by participating only in the general election and skipping primaries.

Rather Disturbing News: CBS News hid Abu Ghraib crimes
(7 comments) Dan Rather reports - this time against CBS, but only after he is given the boot. His suit against the suits opens up a veritable Pandora's box of wrongdoing, including the revelation that CBS sat on the Abu Ghraib story including photographic proof of illegal torture. See how CBS sadly became complicit in Bush administration crimes and why Rather is today issuing a warning about the media a la Eisenhower's farewell message.

Bush was not involved in planning 9-11
(49 comments) Corrupt or incompetent? No White House plan would ever have made Bush seem as inept and ill-prepared to defend America as the events of 9-11 have. Let's look back at the string of failures that spotlight Bush's pre-911 indifference on al Qaida.

OpEdNews Readers: Hold Congress Accountable
(1 comments) The latest Iraq War funding bill passes - but how did the measure go through so quickly and with such little public debate or scrutiny? What of the Dems who could have blocked funding? Are they listening? Or are they shills for the military industrial complex? We ask constituents from all corners to share the official word on why their representatives caved in.

DC Madam scandal widens: Cheney, Giuliani, Abramoff
(2 comments) Vice President Cheney is still not suing the reporter publishing claims he repeatedly used the Pamela Martin escort service. In fact, more details have emerged, implicating many DC politicians, lobbyists and corporate bigwigs with big time name recognition in a story that now seems to envelop the DOJ scandal, an unsolved murder, and Giuliani's law firm.

If you're listening in on political opponents, we want to know about it.
If the DOJ was used as the political arm for the White House, who's to say the NSA wasn't used as it's eyes and ears? Read why the NSA spying case should be the #1 reason for impeachment.

Why George Tenet is Just Another O.J., or Why Impeachment is a "Slamdunk"
Ex-CIA Director publicizes a tell-all book so short on revelations, it compels readers to protest the judgment of the publisher. Not only doesn't he deliver, he doesn't avoid the rancid stench of complicity, prompting disgusted CIA vets to call for stripping him of his Medal of Freedom. Tenet is a mature DC politico with blood on his hands, indignantly crying sour grapes before his 15 minutes fade but here's what you can do.

Fixing Healthcare: the answer lies in our past
(2 comments) By 2008, healthcare could very well be the deciding issue in the presidential election. With all the proposals on the table, which one makes the most sense? I'd suggest the answer is none of the above - we need to go back 30 years and take a look at the way it WAS.

Are your investments killing America?
(7 comments) George Bush received a standing ovation when he recently visited Wall Street, obviously for fostering a "profit friendly" landscape. But if the financial industry is morally bankrupt, why are we handing over all of our investment funds to them? Perhaps it's time we all took a personal ethics check. You may be shocked to realize what your money is being used for right now!

Money trumps peace?? Are you doing all you can do? Will the DNC continue this charade and swear off the corporate bucks?
Is it pure Capitalist greed that sullies our election process? Is it the way we elect presidents? Do we blame the rich? Actually, the fault is your own, dear reader. It got corrupt long ago, but if you don't fix it now, you deserve it.

Eyewitness: Watada Judge Panicked and Bailed
(6 comments) In a showdown of rock solid preparedness, conviction and mental toughness, Lt. Ehren Watada seems to have outgunned Judge Lt. Col. John Head, who became unglued and declared a mistrial. Read about the startling legal move made by the defense that made discussion of the legality of the war inevitable - something the judge did NOT want in his courtroom.

ATTEN-TION! What Lt. Watada needs now is...attention!
(6 comments) Ehren Watada faces an almost certain court martial, stuck between "Iraq" and a hard place. Or is it perhaps the judge in this case that must chose between properly dispensing justice or providing cover for an illegal war? Having chosen already, this trial stinks - we need to hold this judge accountable and bring maximum scrutiny to these questionable military court procedures. Here are the keys.

Shaping campaign finance reform

General Petraeus: There Must Be No More Vietnams
On the eve of his marginalization, Bush finally implements practicable Iraq strategy, led by aticulate and ethical soldier-academic Dr. David Petraeus. But will this only underscore how incompetent his leadership has been for the last three years?

Bush's perilous provocations ask the question - is he begging for impeachment?
(1 comments) Bush enflames tensions in Kurdistan, Somalia and Iran. In light of recent international incidents, Congress may need to quickly consider impeachment in the interest of national security!

When will corrupt, complicit media come around?
We all know the media has not been accurately covering public sentiment, criticizing Bush's policies, or bringing us informed, balanced discussions of important issues. If we support the media through puchase of advertised consumer goods, why then can't we demand better representation?

Deconstructing the media manipulation that infects America's core
(10 comments) Are we wasting our time bickering on blogs? We may need to take a deeper look at ourselves, not our enemies across the ideological aisle. We badly need a fresh perspective on many of our ingrained American indulgences to recognize what the last 100 years of media manipulation has wrought, and what it means to our children.
