Disabled VietNam Era Veteran with 37+ years experience in public service (including four years in US Navy).

2008 Obama National Delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado.

Board Member, Nevada County Democratic Central Committee.

Retired last year (end of 2009). My final position was an Administrator in the California Employment Development Department responsible for a large (150+ employees) staff who filed Unemployment Insurance claims and provided information about benefits to the unemployed.

A number of years I worked directly with disabled veterans in a groundbreaking program, the Disabled Veteran Outreach Program; a "temporary" program tasked to seek out unemployed veterans and get them whatever it took to get them to a "job ready" state. I worked in one of the most depressed areas in California (Watts/Compton) and in a relatively new Veterans Administration Hospital in Southern California where I was part of a team providing job assistance to Disabled Veterans who were at the end of their substance abuse treatment. My other assignments included assisting the Department Director identify and tear down walls that prevented the disabled within California State Civil Service from achieving their potential and outreach to disabled folks with the goal of preparing and filing for State Civil Service jobs.

My retirement at the end of 2009 was after a one year period in which I was recovering (or attempting to recover) from a work related illness. That led to my full retirement when it became apparent I would no longer able to work. Thank goodness for my long service to the citizens of California and the pension that comes with over thirty years within civil service, and there is Social Security Disability. Yes, a SOCIAL SAFETY NET program - by the people and for the people, Tea Party members!

The Citicorp/Citibank Recovery Plan: The Missing Link The missing link in the financial recovery is the failure of financial institutions to PUT THE CUSTOMER first. That short-sided approach to recovering will likely lead to additional negative consequences and the next big bank failure if not corrected NOW.
