A Walk Down Memory Lane: Some things haven't changed at all Why do progressives have such a difficult time selling their visions and dreams to the American public? After 40 years plus, one would think that they would have been able to better hone their message; to get more converts to their side of the road.

Was It Corporate Ethics Or Politics? Given the short attention span of Americans, the issue will fizzle out and die after a bit. Life will continue in China as it did prior to Google's departure. Ultimately, it is a lot of fuss about nothing, unless of course one is trying to score political points in America.

The Shot Heard Around the World Google, in retaliation to the hackings committed by persons unknown, foolishly decided to try to "punish" the Chinese government by demanding that China relax its censorship rules on the company, and hence, the Chinese people. Beijing reacted predictably, saying in essence, but much more diplomatically, "go to hell. You want to do business in China, you do it our way or no way."

Google v. China: 0 - 1 Washington, with its numerous think tanks and experts, no doubt is well aware of the fact that the concepts of democracy and freedoms are contrary to Chinese culture and tradition. Washington knows that introducing individualism to China would bring the country to its knees.

Demonizing China Today, more so than ever, America is also extremely dysfunctional politically. While China, with its single party form of government was able to implement an economic stimulus plan within months, America is still without a concrete stimulus plan. China emerged from the economic meltdown virtually unscathed, and brought with it much of Asia and the Pacific Region.

The Consequeces of Health Care Reform Health care reform certainly does look good in theory and on paper. All that people talk about today are the perceived and hoped for cost savings, primarily to and for themselves. No one seems to be looking at the potential consequences for and of health care reform.

Apologists for Deadbeat Dads Contrary to what the deadbeat apologists argue, the child support system is fundamentally fair. It is not perfect, but it operates within a framework of laws that have been carefully crafted to ensure that children receive the financial support that they are entitled to.

Looking In On America In China's warning there is a stronger message. If the human rights elements in Western Society and in America persist, and do somehow stir up dissent against the Chinese government, China can and will impose extreme sanctions on America. They may do so at some cost to their investments, but social stability in China is much more important than money.

You Don't Have a Right to Health Care Nadya Suleman is the new poster child for abuse of the health-care system. The Constitution guarantees people the right to procreate, and to not procreate. To punish Suleman or her doctor in any form or manner would ultimately be unconstitutional.

The Declining of America The biggest problem behind the economy is the American people. Corporations and Congress can be blamed, but it is the American people who have created the problem and allowed it to flourish. They have idolized the rich and powerful instead of challenging them. That only serves to contribute to the decline of America.

Israel: Determined to Destroy the World Until Israel is contained within its borders, it will continue to pose a threat to not only the region, but the world. So far, the rhetoric from the Obama administration has been that it will continue to cater to the whims of Israel. Peace will never be obtained in that manner. Israel will thus be subjected to continued threats of annihilation, which will only serve to further exacerbate an already volatile situation.

Has Obama Heard About The Economic Crisis? Obama needs to realize that every time that he steps out in public, it places an extra burden on the budget, and hence the taxpayer. If the average taxpayer can't afford to travel, the President Elect -- not only today, but when he is president -- should travel only when it is absolutely necessary. Both the economic and carbon footprints of the Office of the President needs to be dramatically reduced.

The Unmitigated Gall of Congress What is interesting is that Congress did not make the same demands for, or on, executive pay for the auto industry. The record is also extremely silent for such demands on the banking industry or AIG, which have been the recipients of massive infusions from the federal government.

Political Genius Emerges Genius Joe The (Been In The Septic Tank Too Long) Plumber knows how to pick a winning candidate. Oh yes. He can't find much, if anything good to say about John McCain, but Sarah "Caribou Barbie" Palin is, according to Genius Joe, "absolutely the real deal." Yup. Joe and Sarah are no doubt equals when it comes to geography, economics and ethics.

Suicide: A Cry for Help? The day that I have to rely on someone else to change my adult diapers is the day that I will be willing to "turn out the lights." I don't want someone feeding me, just so they can change my diapers later on either. I don't want to be relegated or parked in a nursing home for the rest of my days.

A Time for "Bad" Pennies Three bad pennies for the week. One we won't see or hear much from after this week. One, we will be hearing from again once the wires are removed from her jaw. And the third, the most dangerous of them all, we still keep hearing from and about. Things are going from bright to a very dull, dark copper color.

The Bush Legacy Tour Bush is now on his Lame...er, Legacy Tour. He wants people to remember him in a favorable light. Given that his approval ratings are lower than the economy-and even the approval ratings for another idiot, Sarah Palin are a bit higher-it could be argued that Bush is wasting his time. The most sought after and valuable photograph of 2009 is slated to be the one of Bush getting on the Presidential helicopter for the last time.

Crisis in Thailand Thailand is quickly crumbling under the weight of social and political unrest. It is a country that has struggled to find an appropriate government since the Monarchy was politically reformed in 1932. Since that time, the country has had 17 constitutions and charters. The form of government has ranged from military dictatorships to electoral democracy. The country began its first true experiment with democracy in 1997.

Obama is Already Stirring Controversy Obama's decision to use complete sentences in his public pronouncements carries with it certain risks, since after the last eight years, many Americans may find his odd speaking style jarring. According to presidential historian Davis Logsdon of the University of Minnesota, some Americans might find it "alienating" to have a President who speaks English as if it were his first language.

My Fellow Comrades We must be patient with our new American Comrades and their Dear Leader. They all have so much to learn. They have so many rabid conservative Capitalist loonies that they must re-educate to peaceful living. They must now spend many hours trying to retrain their dogs who wear lipstick to become sociable. They must learn that those who make some people rich must be rewarded, for without the worker they would not be rich.

Has Sarah learned anything? After eight years of a an Administration virtually devoid of compassion, the American people sent a clear message to the Republican party. They are tired of the way that Republicans do business. Tired of their "pit bull" attitudes and approaches to everything that they do not agree with. Americans are tired of an Administration that does at it pleases without regard for the people that it was elected to serve.

America's Biggest Threat If the predictions are correct, Obama will be the next president of the United States. This is an event most of the world is looking forward to. The world has had enough of Bush's "cowboy diplomacy." It is also fearful of the potential "moose hunting diplomacy" that could occur under a McCain-Palin Administration.

Deadbeat Dad: I'll stop eating if you put me in jail What Murtari is effectively saying is "if I don't get my way, I'm not going to play by the rules." To date, almost a decade after his declaration, his efforts to reform the family law system have produced zero results, other than him having been jailed numerous times on various criminal charges.

Limits on Free Speech Are Needed As much as I abhor the majority of the things that Sarah Palin espouses and stands for, I seriously question the appropriateness of this expression of "free speech." Trying to be "dirtier" than the opposition ultimately results in a sea of mud. The only critters that like to wallow in the mud are pigs. They may, or may not, depending on their mood, wear lipstick.

Real Threats Facing America For America to survive, it is going to have to come together, and dispense with the ideological differences that currently exist. Whichever candidate wins, the message needs to be one of moderation. The extremes must be eschewed for finding common ground among all people not only in America, but throughout the world.

Human Rights are Subjective Contrary to the hyperbole of the Western media, the Chinese government is not the monster that it is portrayed to be. Like all governments, it is not perfect, but it has worked remarkable virtual miracles in the last 30 years. With 1.3 billion people relying on the government, progress must move slowly, dealing with one issue at a time.

Whatever Happened to Pride? Maybe being a politician, or the husband of a politician takes your pride away from you. From the evidence that has been presented so far -- Troopergate, children's travel expenses and now clothing -- it is pretty apparent that the Palins are drunk with power, which means they have lost contact with common sense and their own pride.

Reform: Often Spoken About, Never Happens Before Saint Sarah started getting scrutinized so closely, she rushed back to Juneau to make a few minor corrections to her expense reports so that they adequately reflected that her children were actually representing the State of Alaska and not just on a pleasure trip or because a reputable baby sitter couldn't be found. (We all know what happened when one of Palin girls selected her own "baby sitter.")

Let's Talk Money... Mr. Kall provides ordinary people with an opportunity to have their voices and opinions heard. He also provides valuable web space so people can find news and information of interest to them, and can impact their lives. He doesn't have to do this. After all, he could, just like my ex-wife, go out and find a second job to support this hobby of his. Unfortunately, this is actually the equivalent of two full-time jobs for him

Profit Over Solutions Rather than evict the tenant, who has done no wrong, the bank should spend an hour or two renegotiating a lease with that tenant. That insures payments being made on the note and that the property remains occupied. Occupied properties have a higher market value than unoccupied properties. It makes simple sense.

The Price of Arrogance A free=wheeling, unchecked capitalistic society creates arrogance. The ultimate price for that arrogance will be the demise of America as the world once knew it. Arrogance and common sense cannot exist. The price for rewarding arrogance is greater than anyone can afford to pay.

The Decline of America If America expects to recover quickly, it needs to start looking at the countries that it has spent the last 30 years criticizing and condemning for not meeting America's double standards. It needs to start emulating the policies and practices in those countries that have worked to build strong economies and strong countries.

On the Record: Joe Sixpack No one -- Mr. Biden, Mr. McCain or Mr. Obama -- were strong enough to stand up to the vote buyers, the vote sellers or the lobbyists. None of you even complained about all the earmarks and pork in that bill. That tells me, Joe Sixpack, and all my neighbors, that none of you are going to bring any change to Washington. It is going to be politics as usual.

Sarah's Debut: Part Deux Sarah Palin met the nation again. In short, it wasn't as spectacular as her initial debut in Minneapolis, and no doubt disappointing for Tina Fey and the nation's comedy writers. No "Palinisms" to entertain the nation.

The Stick it to America Bill of 2008 The spending continues unchecked as America continues borrowing money to stay afloat. Be afraid. Very afraid. The politicians are sticking it to America all in the name of getting re-elected.
