SCOTUS Declines to Hear WI Photo ID Challenge
After U.S. District Court Judge Lynn Adelman soundly rejected the law in 2014 -- finding that "evidence adduced at trial demonstrates" WI's Act 23 "disproportionately impacts Black and Latino voters" and that the law would "prevent more legitimate votes from being cast than fraudulent votes" -- the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals deadlocked (disingenously) 5 to 5 on whether to stay the original ruling.

In Every Election, a "Surprise" Victory for Republicans
Once again this week, the election was a surprise victory for Republicans. Republicans always do better in the election than in the polls. Are the polls biased? Or is the computerized black box voting to blame?
Sunday, September 21, 2014 U.S. Senators, Representatives Finally Call for Accountability for Wife-Beating Federal Judge Mark Fuller
The plan--which a senior Republican federal judge described last week as "a sweet deal...that will allow Fuller to erase his criminal conviction for beating the crap out of his wife in a fancy hotel room while reeking with booze"--would allow him to return to his lifetime $200,000/year job where he sits in judgment of others, while leaving his next victim, whoever that might be, with little if any protection.

Another Cold Blast of "Global Warming is a Hoax!" Nonsense to Grip Parts of the Gullible U.S.
the extraordinary cold beginning to blast a large portion of the Midwest this week in the U.S. (accompanied by unusual warmth in places like Alaska and down here in Southern California at the same time), that is another troubling example of the same record-breaking and extreme weather patterns which climate scientists have long predicted would be the result of global climate change.

Health Care Spending Flattens Since Passage of "Obamacare," Corporate Media Fail to Notice
On Wednesday, the new head of the White House Council of Economic Advisers released a bombshell report finding that U.S. health care spending since 2010 has increased by just 1.3 percent -- the smallest cost growth over a three-year period in American history. But media published about 10 times as many pieces on the troubles with the Obamacare site than they did on the new health care spending report.

Diebold Charged With Bribery, Falsifying Docs, "Worldwide Pattern of Criminal Conduct"
The two-count criminal information and deferred prosecution agreement calls for Diebold to pay nearly $50 million in penalties: $23 million to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and $25 million to the Department of Justice. The government agreed to defer criminal prosecution for three years, and drop the charges if Diebold abides by the terms of the agreement.

EXCLUSIVE: Former Gov. Don Siegelman Brings the Hammer Down on Tom DeLay from Prison
In his statement, the former governor speaks out against "The Hammer" and hammers him hard for what he describes as collusion to "engineer a money laundering scheme to defeat me in my race for re-election as governor and to elect Karl Rove's and Tom DeLay's Republican colleague from the U.S. House, then Congressman Bob Riley."

RAGING BULL: Radical Activist Jurist Antonin Scalia, Legislating from the Bench
There was a loud chorus of gasps, literal and otherwise, in the wake of Scalia's offensive and inaccurate remark during Wednesday's hearing when he charged that the Voting Rights Act, presumably Section 5 specifically, but he was speaking of the bill in its entirety at the time, served as little more than a "perpetuation of racial entitlement."

"Tea Party" Brand Now a Liability to "Tea Party" ... and Republicans
With a Democratic Party now owning the mainstream, Republicans find themselves grappling for a foothold with "nowhere else to go," but still farther to the Right as their own, self-created, self-defeating feedback loop continues to continue.

Top 8 Dumbest Responses After the Sandy Hook Elementary School Mass Shooting in Newtown, CT
We don't want to "ban" all guns. But we'd have no problem with severe safety regulations and oversight on the manufacture, purchase and use of guns, just as we have in effect for the manufacture, purchase and use of automobiles. Seat belt requirements don't prevent everyone from dying in cars, but we still require they are built into every car and used by every driver.

"True the Vote" Fakes the "Voter Fraud"
The Rightwing "election integrity" group calling themselves "True the Vote" knows first-hand what fraud actually is. On Election Day this year, their own observers were barred from monitoring the polls in Franklin County, OH, after the county's bipartisan Board of Elections had determined that the group had "forged" and photocopied the signatures of candidates needed to allow poll monitors access to precincts in the county.

Almost Half of GOP Voters: ACORN Stole It Again!
There is no evidence, none, zero, nada, that any vote has ever been stolen in any election either by ACORN or via one of the bad voter registrations submitted by one of its workers (bad registrations which were almost all discovered by ACORN themselves and turned in, along with the rogue worker who submitted them, to authorities.)

The Green Elephant in the Room
The presidential candidates are still mum and MIA on the connection between extreme weather and climate change. While Sandy has knocked both President Obama and Mitt Romney off the campaign trail, they are not getting on topic with the green elephant in the room...the likely arrival of climate change.
Wednesday, September 12, 2012 "Non-Citizen" CO Voters Not Actually Non-Citizens; "Dead" TX Voters Not Actually Dead
It is absolutely shameful what the Republican Party is attempting to do to undermine the core American value of democracy in this country this year. Respectable Republicans, if there are any who have not yet been run out of the party, ought to be raising holy hell with their party leadership about what they are doing to undermine the one single right that protects every other one in our nation, the right to vote.

Both CNN and Glenn Beck's "News" Site, Smear Former FL Gov. Charlie Crist as "Turncoat"
Perhaps we missed it, but we don't remember the "liberal" CNN similarly labeling Democrat-turned-Republican Artur Davis a "turncoat" when he spoke at the RNC last week in favor of Mitt Romney. Or did they just reserve that distinguished label only for Republican-turned-independent Charlie Crist when he spoke on behalf of Barack Obama?

Report: Wife of WI GOP Legislator and Photo ID Restrictions Advocate, Committed Voter Fraud
It looks like, once again -- no matter what the professional GOP "voter fraud" fraudsters and clowns like John Fund, Hans von Spakovsky and Matthew Vadum claim -- if there is an epidemic of "voter fraud" in this country, it seems that it's not Democrats, but Republicans, and often very very high-profle Republicans at that, who are carrying it out.

Congress Cowers to Terrorist-Enabling NRA
In the real world, given the carnage they continue to enable year after year and tear after tear, it's difficult to say whether the NRA should best be described as terrorist enablers, or just plain terrorists, for the all of the indescribable violence they help perpetuate and, arguably, even help to fund.

750,000 PA Voters Without State-Issued Photo ID Could be Disenfranchised Under New GOP Law
When Republicans lose their right to vote, it pisses us off just as much as when Democrats lose their right to vote, even when it happens under voter suppression laws passed by Republicans. We can think of little that is more blatantly and appallingly anti-American than what the GOP is now doing in hopes of purposely and systematically undermining the very core of democracy in this nation.

California University Student Hacks Online Election
Another online election has been wholly compromised -- and now cancelled -- after it was discovered that a business school student hacked into it and stole hundreds of passwords and IDs, so that he could fix the results of the election.
Wednesday, January 4, 2012 Santorum 'Wins' Iowa, Everyone Else Doesn't
With his "victory," Romney, seems to have failed to even reach his own 2008 Iowa numbers. Then, when he came in second, he had 30,021 votes. Last night -- a full four years and who-knows-how-many millions of dollars later -- Romney's total was almost identical, at 30,015. He fell by a total of 6 votes from four years ago. 6 votes.

Dirty Tricks in WI: Deceptive Absentee Ballot Mailers Appear to be Coordinated Hoaxes
Election integrity groups are hoping to take proactive action next Tuesday to attempt to oversee the election in a state with an election system which is not particularly easy to oversee. while most of the voters in the state are allowed to use paper ballots, those ballots are counted by computer and computer only. There is no inspection of paper ballots to ensure that the computers have tallied them correctly.

Everything You Need to Know About Obama, The Brad Blog Already Told You in 2007...
President Obama has been forced to deal with an unprecedented extremist GOP willing to use terrorists tactics to get their way, creating phony "hostage crises" time and again--in the latest episode putting a gun to the head of the world economy. But negotiating with terrorists only ensures the likelihood of the bad guys taking another hostage in the future, which the Republicans have repeatedly done, and will continue to do.
Wednesday, June 15, 2011 Good News for Constitutional Conservatives in Two CA-Related Court Rulings, But Very Bad News in WI
Wisconsin's state Supreme Court Tuesday reinstated Gov. Scott Walker's plan to all but end collective bargaining for tens of thousands of public workers. On the very same day the court decided officially to accept the case, they also issued their verdict. It was a largely predictable one, with all four Republican appointees on the court siding with Walker and the state GOP.

Tale of the Tapes: Wisconsin's 'Dog-and-Pony Show' Faith-Based Supreme Court Election 'Recount'
As if the opened ballot bags, missing and scratched-out serial numbers, and mis-dated poll tapes aren't enough, the minutes from the "recounts" in three different cities in two different counties have revealed that the so-called "Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails" on touch-screen voting machines didn't actually print at all, because the paper rolls were inserted backwards.
Wednesday, September 15, 2010 CASTLE DEFEATS O'DONNELL IN DELAWARE!
But the point here is: Who knows? Absolutely nobody does. I don't. You don't. O'Donnell doesn't. Castle doesn't. The State of Delaware doesn't. Even the manufacturer of the e-voting system, Danaher/Guardian, would be unable to prove who actually won or lost the race one way or another.
Friday, November 21, 2008 The fallout from Promoting Janet Napolitano
Mark Crispin Miller adds: The election reform movement in AZ has lately made great progress, against all odds and with great hardship. (Two months ago John Brakey was hustled off to jail in Pima County, for insisting on his right to monitor the handcount of some ballots there.)Any further progress will be blocked, and all that recent progress could be nullified, if Brewer becomes the Queen of Arizona.

Take Them Out of Service NOW
Now, finally --- and thankfully --- we have a report of voters experiencing votes flipping from the Republican candidate John McCain, to the Democratic candidate Barack Obama in a second TN county. Does this mean someone can actually take some action to get these machines the hell out of service now?!
Wednesday, February 27, 2008 CA: "Double Bubble" trouble Bowen update...
I've now gotten to chat about all of this with Bowen spokesperson Nicole Winger, whose carefully worded statement to the Pasadena Star-News is mentioned in the update. We chatted about the details of the full article above to make sure she understood that Logan is proposing discarding possibly thousands of ballots that can(& according to CA state law & constitution)must be counted. She will be sharing that information with Bowen
