John Garamendi Vs Barack Obama?
(8 comments) I first became aware of California Democratic Representative John Garamendi when he made a brief appearance on MSNBC's The Ed Show last Thursday night. He emphatically demanded no cuts to social security even in the unlikely passage of tax increases on the rich; that it was the Wall Street barons who have ripped this country off and should, therefore, make all the sacrifices needed to spur jobs and restore the economy.

First Olbermann, Now Schultz: Reading the Comcast Tea Leaves
(15 comments) So, now Ed Schultz follows the pattern of MSNBC/Comcast on eliminating effective progressive voices from its payroll: a couple suspensions and, hopefully, Schultz will read the tea leaves and voluntarily depart.

The 11 'Human Resources' Were People, Too
(1 comments) We, at least, were able to move on with our lives; unlikely to grieve for the bit-players who were obliterated by the monster, let alone try to remember their names lest we face years, like the families of the eleven killed, of being unable to forget. Let us choose to know and remember not only the names of the eleven, but learn something about each one so that the number 11 fails to disguise their humanity.

O'Donnell Didn't Praise Olbermann As Much As Mock Him
(5 comments) In his transparent attempt to ingratiate himself to us, it seemed to me O'Donnell was more a salesman trying to sell something way over priced instead of being honest with his customers; and that he was not really praising Olbermann as much as he was mocking him.

President Coward
(1 comments) If anybody believed the President's excuse of November 6th and again in his November 7th press conference that, in order to protect the unemployed and the American economy, he had no choice but to surrender to the Wealth Party and agree to borrow and give to the already too rich over 400 billion from China and a trillion and a half more from any other sovereign piggybank willing to lend, I"ve got some AAA-rated mortgage-backed

Rachel Maddow Gently Rolls Olbermann Under the Bus
(15 comments) Bottom line, Maddow should have showed more loyalty to the man who elevated her career by at least saying she disagreed with the decision of her boss. Yeah, that takes guts, but all she demonstrated was how easy it is for her to preach that progressives and their elected should take a stand, but wimped out when she faced her own fears of retribution.

Will Olbermann Be the Next Donahue?
(11 comments) Now that corporate monster Comcast has begun to feed on it, MSNBC has begun the process of making Olbermann their next Donahue. If Keith stays gone, the next will be Rachel; perhaps making more transparent MSNBC's reason for giving Catfood Commission spokesman Lawrence O"Donnell the 10 PM slot.

Will You Let the Lunatics Take Over the Asylum?
(13 comments) And so it is I was about to sit out the first election since I cast my first vote for McGovern in 1972. If the Great Disappointer and his henchmen chose to tell me I was the problem, then I'd just pout in defiance of them. Until Olbermann.

Obama's Great Awakening
(14 comments) This writer has often shared the mortification of progressives in President Obama's persistent willingness to compromise to get what he can get instead of rising above mediocrity to fight for all that he should get. Few of us ever consider that, historically, it often takes a new President, on average, two years to adjust to the full measure of the power of his office.

The Kennedy Effect
(13 comments) President Kennedy, like FDR, was about to betray his class by scattering into a thousand pieces the instruments the rich and powerful had so patiently planted and cultivated since 1934. The quiet coup had to ratchet into a violent and singularly targeted coup de tat, utilizing all their embedded agents under a plan long reserved and rehearsed for just such a crisis. Kennedy died so that his successors would choose to live.

Medicare Option or Civil Unrest

Et Tu Markos? Kos Threatens Kucinich
(19 comments) O'Donnell went for the kill by asking Moulitsas if Kucinich's vote against the Senate Healthcare Bill was "" reprehensible enough to mount a primary challenge against him? Is it possible to be too liberal and not practical enough and, therefore, merit a challenge in a primary? Especially if Dennis Kucinich votes as he promises he will, votes against this bill in the House of Representatives?"

Keith Olbermann's Johnny Carson Moment
(6 comments) When no less than Jon Stewart of Comedy Central's The Daily Show recently mocks Olbermann for a display of sore-losership (over-the-top venom against a winning United States Senate candidate), Keith should see the parody as a warning of his Johnny Carson moment: when the great become a punchline and the beginning of their descent becomes inevitable.

S.C. Lt. Gov Andre Bauer Campaigns Against the Poor and Other "Stray Animals"
(3 comments) "My grandmother was not a highly educated woman, but she told me as a small child to quit feeding stray animals. You know why? Because they breed. You're facilitating the problem if you give an animal or a person ample food supply. They will reproduce, especially ones that don't think too much further than that. And so what you've got to do is you've got to curtail that type of behavior. They don't know any better."

Who Will Join Olbermann In Jail?
(12 comments) What it seems to me Olbermann has envisioned in his fervent call-to-arms is the single tipping point that brings together all the factions of this nation, who hate each other, into a mass movement that all the tear gas, the stun guns, the rubber bullets and the eardrum rupturing sound cannons cannot defeat.

How Barack Obama Earned the Nobel Peace Prize

Don't Feed The Children
(3 comments) Cynthia Davis chairs two committees in the Missouri State House: Special Committee on Children and Families and the Interim Committee On Poverty; yet, according to her June 4, 2009 blog, she appears to view taxpayer-funded feeding of hungry children with the kind of distain that might even make Mr. Bumble in Dicken's Oliver Twist blush.

(1 comments) Indeed, Senator Specter's op-ed may be a shrewd first step in appealing to a base of Obama Democrats disappointed by the President's reluctance to criminally pursue the torturers and those who ordered torture during the Bush Junior Administration, crimes among the many abuses of presidential authority a majority of Democrats want rectified.
