Are Rape Jokes Ever Funny?
(6 comments) The reason why jokes which belittle or celebrate rape "work" (to those who laugh) is because women are routinely violated, killed, beaten, demeaned, and degraded and this is in contradiction to the thin veil of "equality for women" which has supposedly been won. There IS a contradiction here. But, whether you find it funny to laugh about rape depends on your view of how this contradiction should be resolved.

Who Says Revolution Can't Happen Here?
(1 comments) Powerful video taken from the BAsics Bus Tour which spread the work of Bob Avakian and revolution through the South and culminating in Sanford (where Trayvon was killed). The next leg of this Bus Tour is kicking off in NYC this Saturday! Don't miss the powerful video and your chance to get involved wherever you are.

Why I'm Marching Against Religious Patriarchs and Woman-Hating Pornographers this Saturday -- And Why You Should Too
(36 comments) On Saturday, our protest is not symbolic. It is a beginning. It is a declaration. From now, until we win the full liberation of women, this war on women will be resisted with conscience, anger, imagination, massive mobilization, and relentless determination to turn the tide.

Why the Ethical Humanist Society of Chicago's Decision to Dis-Invite Me Must Not Stand
(3 comments) Sunsara Taylor protests the Ethical Humanist Society of Chicago's decision to dis-invite her from speaking on Nov.1 on "Morality Without Gods." The dis-invitation was done out of opposition to Sunsara's communist viewpoints and through dishonest and slanderous methods. Chris Hedges, Laura Flanders, Mark Crispin Miller, Cindy Sheehan, Rev. Bob Bossie,SCJ & more sent statements protesting this dis-invitation.

On The Nation's Open Letter to Obama:Wishful Thinking and Deadly Self-Deception
(2 comments) Sanitizing Obama's positions is dangerously similar to how the Pentagon refers to civilian deaths as "collateral damage"; it numbs people to reality and makes it easier for them to acquiesce. Particularly painful is that many of the letter signers have a commendable history of insisting people confront the crimes of the government, but the logic of trying to make Obama something he is not had led them away from this principle

The Dangerous Logic of Blocking Protests in the Name of Electing Obama
(1 comments) The choice we face is not really between Obama and McCain. Our choice is between accepting the ruling class spectrum of Obama to McCain as the limits of what is possible-or-rejecting this whole framework and instead waging meaningful mass political resistance to the whole fascist direction they are dragging things in.

A Regime Still Set On Remaking the World. . . and the Need To Drive It Out
(1 comments) There are many deadly lies and deceptions in America today, but one of the deadliest is that the "Bush Regime is over." The torture, the wars, the spying and theocratic measures and the toxic waves of bigotry-against Black people today, gays tomorrow, immigrants or women or dissenting professors the day after-isn't "limping to the finish"...it is intensifying. The crimes committed in our name pile up each and every day.

As American as Shopping and Torture: Street Theater on International Human Rights Day
On the bright Sunday, that was International Human Rights Day, December 10th, tourists and shoppers line up like any other day...Across the sidewalk, a dozen of us crouched beneath black hoods. Bright orange jumpsuits, the trademark uniform of Guantanamo, set us apart from the crowd. Our hands were gripped behind our backs, as if cuffed.

The No-Win Election for Women and the Need for a Real Alternative
(1 comments) What "will of the people" decided that voters should have the "choice" between theocrats who are moving relentlessly to criminalize and culturally demonize birth control and abortion and a Party whose strategy is to change the subject or join in?

Center for Disease Control to Women: Prepare to Give Birth!
A recent report by the Centers for Disease Control recommends classifying all women as pre-pregnant--whether they intend to conceive or not. It’s an audacious leap along the logical fault line that values women as mere fetal incubators.

Meet the Shock Troops of the Christian Youth
(2 comments) Battle Cry for Theocracy! If you've been waiting until the Christian fascist movement started filling stadiums with young people and hyping them up to do battle in "God's army" to get alarmed, wait no longer.
