Say NO to Obama's Snowe job
media reports say that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is very close to rounding up the votes needed for a public health insurance option, but "the White House is pushing back against the idea" in order to get the support of Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-ME). Tell the White House that the support of one Republican isn't worth a bad bill.

Rachel Maddow: Strip Support from Dems Siding with Republican filibuster on Health Reform
(2 comments) Republicans are planning to use the Senate "filibuster" procedure to block a vote on health care reform. But if all Senate Democrats stick together,a clean up-or-down vote will take place.Let's send a clear message:It's not OK for Democratic senators to join with Republicans to block a vote on health care. Period. It's critical that Harry Reid sees immediate support for this idea: sign the petition tonight and tell your friends

Tell Obama: Stop the Democratic Senators kneecapping health care reform.
We know that Republicans will do anything it takes to defeat the public option, including using the filibuster in an attempt to prevent the full Senate from considering it. But Republicans lack the ability to sustain a filibuster in the Senate on their own. So any Democrat who joins a Republican filibuster of the public option would be validating and enabling bad faith Republican obstructionism.

Stop telling us "We don't have the votes!" GO GET THE VOTES!!!
(10 comments) Harry Reid, you're the Senate Majority Leader. Stop sniveling. Don't tell us that you don't have the votes. Go get the votes. That's your job. Try acting like LBJ instead of a jellyfish, and you'll be amazed at how much can be done with a little arm-twisting. And don't tell me that you need 60 votes to pass legislation in the Senate. The only reason that is the case is because you allow it to be the case. It doesn't...

On The AMA's Opposition To The Public Option
the AMA is just as much a relic of a by-gone era as the little black bag. The AMA always seemed more interested in the "town" side of the town-and-gown argument, and never really seemed like an advocate for patients, just an advocate for the highest possible reimbursement for docs.

(4 comments) A promise by presidential candidate Barack Oabama fell by the wayside on Thursday when President Obama's Justice Department argued against a badly needed reform of whistleblower protection law. Conflict of Interest - GA SoS to use unverifiable voting in bid for governor
Now the only apparent defense that Georgians have to avoid a major conflict of interest in the 2010 elections is a law suit pending before the GA Supreme Court. That suit challenges the legality and constitutionality of current GA elections based on admissions collected from the state's own expert witnesses during depositions. These admissions include the lack of an independent audit trail that was legally required, inability to

(7 comments) the solutions are really quite simple and easy to put into effect. Tell Your Senators: Reject von Spakovsky as Federal Elections Commissioner
If there was one official in the Department of Justice who did more than Alberto Gonzales to inject partisan politics into the supposedly impartial administration of our nation's laws, it was Hans von Spakovsky. He unapologetically and openly politicized the Department of Justice's Voting Rights Section. Senators on the Rules Committee should reject his nomination as a Federal Elections Commissioner.

Listen to Rep. Rush Holt on NPR WHYY Radio Times
(1 comments) Rep. Holt maintains on the show that in the event of a recount, the hand counted paper ballots would be the ballot of record. What isn't discussed is the very tiny likelihood of a recount. Therefore, until we get to a recount, the electronic vote is still the one which is counted. He has given up on open source code to private vendors and software providers because of the pushback from them- otherwise the bill couldn't pass.

If you think this EO applies only to those who have committed or intend to commit acts of violence, then read the words again: It applies to any person who poses "a significant risk of committing an act of violence." "Voter ID schemes make it more difficult for voters to exercise their right to vote and significantly increase the chances that eligible, registered voters will be denied the right to vote, while doing absolutely nothing to prevent voter fraud, which every study agrees is virtually non-existent.
