An Open Letter To The Truckers Of America

by William Cormier     Page 1 of 2 page(s)

Tell A Friend

As a nation, we are all being gutted by high fuel prices, food costs that are rising so rapidly that the "average American" is experiencing difficulty in keeping food on the table for their families - and the sub-prime crisis and subsequent collapse of several corporations that were once household names is rapidly causing the collapse of our entire economy. Progressive and Liberal writers, now often joined by Republicans as well, have been attempting to organize the people to participate in a general strike - but as usual, the mainstream news media refuses to tell America the truth - and the people remain unaware that the worst is yet to come, and that as a nation, the Bush administration is playing God with all of our lives... "The Decider" has ignored the majority of the people and has demonstrated, time and time again, that the average American is meaningless in the scheme of his quest to dominate and enslave America, breaking us down to the point that people find it hard to attend peaceful protests because they can't afford the gas to travel where they are needed. I noted in an article that appeared on RAW Story that many truckers in South Dakota couldn't attend a planned protest because they couldn't afford the fuel - which is obviously the intent of destroying the American economy. Destitute people cannot risk a day or a few hours of their wages as they live from check to check - and its been planned that way as the government uses food and fuel as a weapon against the American people!

I commend your efforts in the recent protest that was staged in Washington, D.C., however, when I learned that Jeff Sessions, a leading Neo-conservative and an individual that helped to get us all in this mess in the first place stated that:

"It's particularly heartbreaking to hear their stories, because not only is there an economic slow down, which means they are hauling less," but a surge in diesel prices adds more burdens, he said.

If you believe that Jeff Sessions gives a rats butt what happen to the "average American", then you might as well quit reading this call to action to the only group of individuals that still has enough power to literally shut-down this country until Congress does their duty and immediately impeaches and prosecutes those who have spat on our constitution and violated our own laws, as well as international law that has made the world's premier democracy into the most hated and feared nation on earth!

Truckers protest high gasoline prices

BRETT ZONGKER
AP News - Apr 28, 2008 21:05 EST

Members of Truckers and Citizens United circled the National Mall before parking their rigs at RFK Stadium. From there, about 100 protesters marched and took shuttles to the Capitol, where an afternoon rally was held.

"The high price for oil is hurting our economy," organizer Mark Kirsch said. "It's hurting middle class people."

The national average price of a gallon of regular gasoline is a record $3.51, according to a recent survey of stations by AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. The price for diesel - used to transport most food, industrial and commercial goods - is $4.20 a gallon.

Dave Gares, an independent trucker from Lebanon, Pa., said the $1,400 it costs to fill up his tractor-trailer with 220 gallons of diesel fuel has been a drain on his income. MORE

Whereas I commend your efforts, I also believe the protest was ineffective and meaningless; Congress and the Presidency will only respond to large-scale protests that impact the bottom-line of the corporations that are profiting from the misery of America - and based on an article in the New York Sun, within two (2) years gas prices could reach $7.00 to $10.00 dollars per gallon for gasoline, and what diesel will cost will effectively end the careers of ALL independent truckers throughout the entire country. If you don't take action today, there will be no "tomorrow" for your livelihoods, and what you have worked for all of your lives will vanish - just as our manufacturing base and millions of jobs that were outsourced to nations that are now economic powerhouses - all compliments of the Bush administration as they progressively destroy this nation and transfer the wealth of the Average American to their corporate buddies and the elitists that rule this nation!

Gas Price May Soar to Between $7 and $10 a Gallon

By DAN DORFMAN, Special to the Sun | April 28, 2008 (Excerpts)

Get ready for another economic shock of major proportions - a virtual doubling of prices at the gas pump to as much as $10 a gallon.

Gasoline nationally is in an accelerated upswing, having jumped to $3.58 a gallon from $3.50 in just the past week. In some parts of the country, including New York City and the West Coast, gas is already sporting a price tag above $4 a gallon. There was a pray-in at a Chevron station in San Francisco on Friday led by a minister asking God for cheaper gas, and an Arco gas station in San Mateo, Calif., has already raised its price to a sky-high $4.62.

In Manhattan, at a Mobil gas station at York Avenue and East 61st Street, premium gas is now $4.03 a gallon. Two days ago, it was $3.96. Why such a high price? "Blame the people at STOPEC (he meant OPEC) and the oil companies," an attendant there told me.

I am nothing more than a patriotic American that is doing whatever I can to further the cause of democracy, the rule of law, and am absolutely outraged on how the Bush administration is defying our Congress, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights! Footnote: I write in a style that I believe is appropriate in today's world where we can't trust the Mainstream News Media, and rather than concentrating on one article alone, which may or may not receive the exposure and emphasis it should, I prefer to meld several relevant stories together, that each taken alone may not expose the entire situation, but when taken-in as a whole, tend to give the reader a better understanding of the subject. One article or story alone does not represent the "Big Picture" - but when several are effectively tied-together it often reveals a trend or broader view of the subject matter that is important to completely understand any given situation. http://justanothercoverup.com/

If you agree with this Article, Please help to get it read!

This article was also submitted to BuzzFlash, so far with very positive reader comments. I also submitted it to "Reddit" from my site, and it was quickly brought into obscurity by the Neo-cons that do not want this letter to our truckers to be widely read.

If you agree that this is an issue that we should support, please hit the + button on Reddit so it will stay in the top of the hot-list so it will be widely disseminated by those who do not check Reddit until after they return home from work. We have little time to act - and few can argue that a general strike by the truckers of America would be effective - albeit painful to all of for a couple of weeks until Congress is forced to re-evaluate Nancy Pelosi's traitorous position of "Taking impeachment off the table."

This nation is in dire straits, and everyday it gets worse, and this is the last avenue that I can think of that would actually be effective and could get wide support from the truckers themselves. One subscriber to BuzzFlash stated he was contacting the truckers association to see if they would accept donations for those that do strike - so people can actually subsidize those who really can't afford to take part in a strike. I believe it's an excellent idea, and one that could grow exponentially if you cross-post this Op-Ed wherever you can and offer support to those who may be willing to attempt to save America from plunging itself into another disastrous war.

Thanks to all.

I Agree 100%

The author of this article is right on. We must do everything and anything to wake up the stoogies in Washington. I have written letters to union officials. local and National leaders, pleading for help. They just don't get it, or seem to care. How much worse can things get? At the rate we're going; I'm starting to see why these Fascists built all those FEMA prisons around the country. This could be much worse the the Great Depression of the 30's. This administration has totally brought America to it's knees. All the major urban areas will start looking like New Orleans after Katrina hit. We need a total Nation-Wide work stoppage by everyone.

I am concerned about bring peace and prosperity to everyone in the world. I am concerned that people with too much power and wealth tend to be oppressive toward those who do not. I think the best policy is a balanced one. Balance comes when opportunity and motivation meet compassion.

I agree 100% too

Get this info on the CB's of truckers all across this country. It shouldn't take but a couple of weeks of NO TRUCKERS TRUCKING and we'd likely see some REAL WORK being done in the congress.

NOTE: Once again, this administration is lying to us. They're sending out billions and billions of dollars that are supposed to be some kind of incentive to revive the economy.....but how many realize it is BORROW MONEY. So, it ain't real!!! It's just another lousy trick. Who do you think is going to have to eventually pay the "Stimulus Package" back? It sure won't be the rich!

COME ON TRUCKERS. YOU DO US FAVORS EVERY DAY BY GETTING OUR STUFF TO US.

STOP TRUCKING!  NOW!

AND SEE HOW LONG IT TAKES TO CREATE A REAL UPRISING AMONG THE VOTERS.

I like the idea of a strike.

But, there would have to be humanitarian efforts for ordinary people in order to prevent martial law - which the filth would love to impose. It's too bad the truckers couldn't just refuse to haul junk food.

Maybe - But think about this!

In France, there have been several strikes by truckers and other groups - and martial law was not implemented. There was just a strike at Grangemouth in central Scotland where a vital oil refinery was shut-down by a strike, and even with the economic ramifications and the petrol shortages that were brought about by that strike - martial law was not implemented there either...

Yes, I know that we are not the UK or France, however, if Bush declares martial law because of a peaceful strike in our own country, he might as well jump on his soapbox and declare that he's the reincarnation of Hitler or Stalin, and our nation would face international condemnation - and the allies we still have would likely disappear faster than the food off our tables.

If he does declare martial law because we are exercising our constitutional rights of peaceful protest, even though we know that somehow the Neo-cons would find a way to interject violence into it, then maybe it's time to jump headlong into the icy waters and see what happens.

I sincerely believe that we are at a "tipping point", and if we don't do something now, there may not be a second chance. By the way, those that are reading this piece, if you agree, please don't forget to hit the “Reddit” button so more people will be drawn to this cause and to Op-Ed News as well. Preaching to the choir is not going to further the cause and we need to cross-post this issue and do our best to get as many people to climb on board as possible.

Thanks,

William Cormier

I agree, but think

Coming from a long family line of truckers, I believe the truckers can pull this off IF most all of them unite and join in. If anyone can, they can.  If they are Independent or Union, there job hopefully would be secure. However, I'm a long thinker and it concerns me that Bush Could bring in his "free trade" illegal truckers and this might siphon your loads right out from under you. That would be such a tragedy so think it through, check it out and then get on the horn, set up a website and a phone number. Organize, Organize and organize. Research the laws and your employment rights and "non" rights.

After that, hopefully you can take those big rigs and hit the road and block roadways, make a statement, and of course, pinch us as well. We can survive somehow but we can figure that out as well.

I will cheer you on. I will be so proud. As a daughter of a trucker that drove for 60 yrs, if alive, he would be supporting you as well. This IS our last chance. Yes, the Uprising has begun.

Oh, and those FEMA camps, to my research and knowledge, those are for all the Medicare and Medicaid recipients. Those are being established through what is known as "Partnership States". All ppl in those camps will be "chipped". In fact, anyone on those programs(like me) will be forced to be Veri-chipped. It's coming soon to a town near you.

I can't believe what has happened to my country.

Now

HELLO. Talk to Anthony at admin@pledgetoimpeach.org

Longshoremens union & independent truckers are signing up for General Strike USA Sept. 11th, 2008

I realize alot is going on & we may not have 4 more months. Alot of strikes are taking place between now & Sept. 11th. Such as the Gas Strike called for tomorrow- 5/2/08

In a series of protest to bring down the two-party hypocrisy.

I don't see it being effective unless we have wide spread support. So I sink every dime I have into ads, flyers, you name it. I'm sending 200 flyers out a day via snail mail (100 stamps are $40.00) to churches. Because that is where the great civil-rights marches were started. And the Methodist hate war, torure & George Bush. (I didn't know- 'till I started the strike)

If there's enough of us to make a difference, don't let me hold anyone back. But don't be a Custard.

We have a REAL shot at bringing this country to a halt & bringing this administration to justice. But not by ourselves.

So lets get the word out. 4 months may seem like a long ways away but it'll go by quicker than we realize. And if we don't get the word out- how many have been to a truck stop?

PRINT this article & take it to your local union hall, your local truck stop, the burger joint.

Clinton is 60 & hits the campaign trail daily. Doing 2 or 3 rallies a day. There is a reason why they win & we lose. How many of you have put that much into this?

I don't want to offend anyone & my apologies if I have....BUT I'm sick of losing.
