Should Democrats, Liberals and Progressives Start A Violent Revolution?

by William Cormier     Page 1 of 2 page(s)

Tell A Friend

If Democrats, Liberals and Progressives wanted to take back our country from the Neo-conservatives and the rabid-right, and we subscribed to the rhetoric of Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh - then yes, a violent revolution, one that spared no one who supported the Bush administration would be the obvious position we should take - and while we’re at it, rape and plunder everything in sight as well! Thankfully, most of us in the Liberal/Progressive community do not support such tactics and believe that we should keep our protests and disgust within established social norms and the rule of law. If I were to call for a violent revolution, or perhaps bombing Fox News for their deception of America and continually spinning what they call “news” and subjugating their viewers to constant governmental propaganda, I have no doubt that within minutes of publishing such a statement - there would be Swat Teams surrounding my house and I’d rot in prison for the rest of my life for advocating violence - and might even face the death penalty for subversion and treason! Based on the law as I understand it, those that advocate violence are guilty of a crime, and when it’s suggested to take the violence to a level where it has the potential to endanger human life - that crime could easily be construed as being an accessory to manslaughter or in extreme cases, murder in the first or second degree if their provocations actually lead to the loss of life!

When we closely examine Rush Limbaugh’s recent remarks when he advocated that people riot in Denver during the upcoming Democratic Convention, if you examine his statements closely, he wasn’t joking at all, but planting the seed hoping that those who listen to his filth will in fact cause trouble, and if they pose as Democrats, it would effectively derail any chance of a Democrat winning the upcoming Presidential election:

Rush Limbaugh Calling For Riots In Denver

DENVER — Talk show host Rush Limbaugh is sparking controversy again after he made comments calling for riots in Denver during the Democratic National Convention this summer.

He said the riots would ensure a Democrat is not elected as president, and his listeners have a responsibility to make sure it happens.

“Riots in Denver, the Democrat Convention would see to it that we don’t elect Democrats,” Limbaugh said during Wednesday’s radio broadcast. He then went on to say that’s the best thing that could happen to the country. MORE

After several people called-in and denounced his remarks, Limbaugh partially recanted what he said by stating that “I am not inspiring or inciting riots, I am dreaming of riots in Denver.” Even that statement demonstrates what a disgusting piece of excrement Rush Limbaugh actually is, and it is my opinion that anyone that “dreams of riots in Denver” is un-American and should be held accountable for his statement(s). Is the Justice Department asleep at the wheel, or do they condone his remarks as well? We know that he has a huge audience among the Neo-conservatives and nut-cases that support Bush and his endless wars - and believe me, they were listening, and now the seeds have been sown; we have to hope that Limbaugh’s statements were not carefully orchestrated to cause such an event in a message that was clear and concise:

Limbaugh said with massive riots in Denver, which he called “Operation Chaos,” the people on the far left would look bad.

“We do, hopefully, the right thing for the sake of this country. We’re the only one in charge of our affairs. We don’t farm out our defense if we elect Democrats … and riots in Denver, at the Democratic Convention will see to it we don’t elect Democrats. And that’s the best damn thing that can happen to this country, as far as I can think,” Limbaugh said.

Where’s the outrage from every corner of America? This sick #@**%!! was serious as a heart-attack, and it’s more than obvious that he said exactly what he believed in, which is contrary to everything that our society (except the rabid-right) believes in, yet he hasn’t been pulled off the air or even been asked to apologize to the American people for attempting to incite a riot - which is exactly what he did, and even if he was only “dreaming of riots in Denver”, that should be proof to anyone with a conscience or half a brain that Rush Limbaugh and his radical beliefs are a danger to a country that is boiling with anger and disgust - on both sides of the isle!

Think back and remember how many “shock-jocks” have been temporarily suspended and only received their jobs back after profusely apologizing to the public, but if you’re in favor of the Iraq War and the suspension of our constitution and civil liberties, our own Justice Department turns a blind-eye to those that condone violence - as long as it’s aimed at Democrats, Liberals and Progressives! Can anyone spell FASISM?

Another example, perhaps even worse than Rush Limbaugh, was Ann Coulter when she called for the bombing of the New York Times - and then attempted to play it off as satire. Now that she has reaffirmed her statement, it is more apparent than ever that she was serious, but again, because her incitement of violence was aimed at what the Neo-cons perceive as “traitorous” behavior by the Times, she remains free to spew more filth and garbage, a double-standard that Americans should refuse to endorse or tolerate! Examine her words closely, and if you believe her remarks were “satire”, especially after she reaffirmed that she meant exactly what she said - there’s something wrong with your reading comprehension!

Ann Coulter: Still Bomb N.Y. Times ( She Won’t Back Down )

by SirLinksalot

This weekend, Editor & Publisher magazine featured this story: “Coulter Affirms Previous Statement About Bombing ‘NYT’ Office.”

Coulter had stated that her “only regret with [Oklahoma City bomber] Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building.”

I am nothing more than a patriotic American that is doing whatever I can to further the cause of democracy, the rule of law, and am absolutely outraged on how the Bush administration is defying our Congress, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights! Footnote: I write in a style that I believe is appropriate in today's world where we can't trust the Mainstream News Media, and rather than concentrating on one article alone, which may or may not receive the exposure and emphasis it should, I prefer to meld several relevant stories together, that each taken alone may not expose the entire situation, but when taken-in as a whole, tend to give the reader a better understanding of the subject. One article or story alone does not represent the "Big Picture" - but when several are effectively tied-together it often reveals a trend or broader view of the subject matter that is important to completely understand any given situation. http://justanothercoverup.com/

absolutely correct

There is definately a double standard when it comes to "homegrown terrorism," and it's standard fascist practice to allow it.  The police state tools that have quietly infiltrated society along with the hate-mongering for select groups aid to paint a very ugly picture of tyranny.

My thanks go to Mr Cormier for telling it like it is.

In truth, many of our current leaders are the real betrayors of our country.  They have committed treason and descimated the very prinicipals upon which the US was founded.

Violence is clumsy and stupid.

Every Republican should be treated with snears and disrespect.  When the Democrats get elected, they should abolish the Republican party for subversion and treason.

Should Democrats, Liberals & Progressives Start A Violent...

Absolutely not, since that would play right into the hands of the Warrior Caste who have (currently) seized control of the national agenda. That would provide them with the excuse they are eagerly looking for to employ the ONLY mechanism their limited imaginations can conceive... the only thing they have EVER been able to think of and do: smash things and kill people. Their only solution to every problem is kill it and bury it. Their solution to everything is enshrined in their creedo of "full spectrum dominance" and a brief survery of the current landscape shows how successful THAT approach has been.

They seized control of the entire government and economic structure and EVERYTHING they touched now lies in ruins and rubble. They seem to posses the anti-Midas touch: everything they touch turns to total shit. Their agenda in the Middle East blew up right in their faces. They broke the economy. Their future is bleak. No one trusts them. Their friends and allies shun them.

Democrats, Liberals and Progressives are the folks who possess the imagination and creativity to think outside the box and we must use those natural talents and skills to outsmart the warrior caste. There can be no doubt that we will in time do just that.

Imagination always outsmarts brutality. The very fact that brutality can only conceive of ONE juvenile solution for every problem is evidence of that. "Smash it! Smash it!" is the only response they have.

They EXPECT us to "fight back" using the same methods they use... (For a clear example look at how they freaked out and totally lost control when their current "enemy" outsmarted them. They began screaming hysterically about "non-state" actors, "illegal" combatants, and "asymetrical" warfare. "No fair, not fair!" they howled. They were unprepared because an enemy had used imagination to outsmart their multi-BILLION dollar defense systems. In their hysterical response they proceeded to negate every treaty made over the past century - & now they have no legal framework to rely on the next time they need it to protect their own.

Eventually the innate creativity of the other castes will create solutions which perform multiple end runs around the slow moving brute strength of the warrior caste. Count on it. That's how the universe works. It's probably a fundamental law like gravity and electromagnetics.

I wassn't suggesting that we do.

In fact, the first paragraph was not satire, but was cynicism aimed at the people who do promote violence to support their cause(s). As I'm hoping that everyone noticed, I specifically stated that "most of us in the Liberal/Progressive community do not support such tactics and believe that we should keep our protests and disgust within established social norms and the rule of law."

The article was intended to draw attention to the right-wing Neo-cons who do condone violence and are allowed to do so without even a hint of backlash from the government or those who publish and air their remarks. The double-standard we face is disgusting and I am dumbfounded that Rush Limbaugh can suggest that the GOP make sure that there are riots in Denver to prevent a Democrat from ascending to the Presidency.

To anyone that believes that this article was meant to suggest that we participate in violent actions to take back America has misunderstood the intent of the piece. I have always condoned non-violent methods of returning the US to our constitutional values and the rule of law.

I Understood You...

and like you I am astounded by the hipocracy on the "right" - the fact that no one stepped forward to castigate Rush for those comments shows the complete moral bankruptcy among their ranks (and rank they are!)

McCain who has the bully pulpit has been stunningly silent on the matter. THAT does not provide a very encouraging sampling of (ahem) leadership skills? for someone running to be president of the "most moral nation in history."( nudge wink )

The very fact that the most creative thing Rush can concoct is a riot, simply exposes a desperate lack of imagination on the right.  As I pointed out in my original comments... brute force appears to be their "solution" to every problem. Kill it and bury it.

The conservatives are notoriously thin skinned when their own tactics are turned on them. Exhibit "A" - how they howled when the left coined "Betrayus" as nickname for the notorious ass kisser. The left should do it more often.

I knew yours was a rhetorical question, since I read your contributions regularly, I think I have some idea of your level of discourse.

Rush stuttered

and stammered, and I really believe he was stoned out of his gourd. But that is no excuse when a poor ethnic kid is on trial. If anybody is injured at the upcoming convention, or God forbid should be killed, Mr. Limberger will be in a lot of trouble. I know if an arab had made his statements they would already be in Gitmo. This may be the last we hear of Rush, thank God for small favors.

Rush is Rolling Scared

I would have said running but I do not think he can run. Last month he encouraged voter fraud and this month violence is his solution, the man is running our  of ideas. .After November Rush maybe looking for a job so he is really scared. I am sure his sponsors are beginning to get a lot of negative feed back. I do not get his broadcast on my radio for which I am grateful , but I do not know who they are. It just goes to show how small minds work. This will not work again. Rush should take a few mind numbing drugs so he can get thru the next  few years.
