President Bush issued an Executive Order that will allow the administration to freeze bank accounts and other financial assets belonging to people or groups that undermine progress, such as reconstruction efforts and political reform in Iraq..
As we know, there are plenty of provisions covering money being sent via "terrrorist cells" dating WAY Back. And needless to say there are plenty of people (moi) who wonder at the scratchy legal pantsuits' put out by Bush, but certain of us are wondering . what does this MEAN? Are we to assume the worst . that we can now have all our ca$h seized by the US Treasury therefore breaking the 5th Amendment OR is this just another attempt to make us anxious and nervous ..?
... nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
Quite rightly the flak is flying .. the comments section on tpmuckracker are riveting, and I invite the reader to visit them. Speculation is raised that this is a way at getting at Hilary Clinton, that it is a way to get to Dennis Kucinich, that this is a way to stop every single anti-Iraq protestor. Of course, the ever word twisting US Adminstration says it is "just filling in the financial cracks ..."
As reported by Sorcha Faal, a known unreliable news source, this is the death knell of liberty. One email I received says that this is creeping fascism. I just don't know, but my distrust is so high after seven years of Orwellian doubletalk; illegal, now legal wiretaps: White House Protocol on handling demonstrators; impeachment proceedings on tap . that I am certainly very CONcerned ...

Apparently the executive order means whatever Bush decides it means. As long as impeachment is off the table, Bush knows that he can do whatever he wants to do, consistent with the constitution or not. He has no restraints as long as Congress is unwilling to restrain him. So this executive order is just a formality and a warning that says... "I'm going to do whatever I want. Get used to it." Inch by inch he will take whatever powers he wants until he is stopped. Who knows when that might be given that he should have been stopped and prosecuted a long time ago.

All surmise is that this was aimed at Hilary and everyone else who obstructs (I think the phrase would be thwarts the will of) George W. Bush absolutely MAD interpretation of events in Iraq, is going to have every blessed thing taken away from them.
I've never thought impeachment was on the table; if it was proceedings would have started after Abu Gaghrib was exposeds .. clearly as David Swanson has suggested, someone is either being blackmailed and/or threatened otherwise some real progress on impeachment would have occured by now! I can no longer see that Bush has ANY powerbase whatsoever; whereas Cheney's (!!!) handprint is spreading everywhere in the known world, including Executive Order 51. In fact, he is sitting in the White House today, in total control for at least a couple of hours once again.
We know that the power of the President has always been the highest in the so-called free world, however these latest three encyclicals (who made them God ..?) are truly truly frightening.
I'll have to post the new petition I got via email about this on this comments section . people really should start talking, with petition in hand, to all their neighbors NOW. Since the lamestream media ain't gonna cover this properly (I know. I checked.) we are going to have to demand that they DO. We can't just have the right wingers (Fox News) crow about this. And we cannot allow ourselves to be ISOLATED - too much is at stake.
Please, anyone reading this, do write down your PERSONAL EXPERIENCES as you deal with this outrage .. what you encounter, what emails you get so we all stay IN THE LOOP! It's the only way to counter abusive mindset that has produced this. There can be no isolating, keeping this secret, or denying its INTENT.
ANYTIME, ANYWHERE the US President can come and declare someone a terrorist and shut up ANYONE ... and shut down any electoral process in the meantime.
Right time to be AFRAID, be very afraid .. but I won't have "them" jerking my chain.

I called her office this week demanding impeachment and was put on a voice mail. I called back and asked if they were taking a tally. and was told "No, that is a bit of a rumor." This made me furious.
Why is she NOT taking a tally or why isn't Conyers or someone else accumulating stats ...?
Since they make lawful protest via mail, phone and fax, impossible, people will take to the streets, pretty simple to work that out. I don't really know if cool heads are going to prevail either. The article on this shows just how deep feeling is running now that so-called democracy is finally exposed for all to see.

and you shall see that I have already posted about calling Pelosi's office and recommending that she APPOINT a nonparitisan committee so no "conflict of interest" will result. I called her office specifically to raise this point as she would be the next in succession.
I personally think/feel/believe that we are just waiting for Jay Rockefeller to enter the scene to take over Cheney's watch .. just as another Rockefeller took over from Agnew . . this is the Ruling Class game which is to just shuffle seats. It doesn't matter which Bush or Clinton gets in .. they are the same family, really, just cruising along with their ENTITLEMENT privileges .... and lack of spirituality.
Now, that said, we tried year after year to get a general strike going against the Vietnam war. It got nowhere, but we did do the legwork. What DID happen, though is that the VETERANS are the ones who stopped that war. And it is happening very fast in the US today . vets are totally disenchanted with this war and fed up being used as cannon fodder. I read all about on the net and get emails as to how it goes when these caravans get to a city. We must respect this people, help them out . they are the ones who are going to lead us out of IRAQ. And the First Nations people are drawing the line around the use of nuclear energy and bombs.
Forget the unions; they were neutralized in the US totally under the McCarthy era, truth be known. Now that is sad.

1. This, and other orders, and so vague that they can be applied in most any sort of way.
2. Bush and his gang are deranged, and can certainly not be trusted to apply any sort of reasonableness to a vague order or policy.
3. The other politicians refuse to restrain the lunatics.
The overall result, then, it that it might be OK, or it might be total tyranny, and there is no way to predict or rely on which it will be -- it's all left up to the whim of the lunatics. It's like playing Russian roulette -- maybe you won't get shot -- or maybe you will. Or maybe -- likely -- it's just a matter of time as the game continues to play out -- that THIS time the bullet will be in the chamber. I feel safer from the terrorists. They are more predictible.
This gang MUST be taken out, and soon. If congress won't do it, then at some point the people either will, or the nation will become a large-scale version of Kampuchia under Pol Pot. The Executive Order entitled "Blocking Property of Certain Persons Who Threaten Stabilization Efforts in Iraq" provides the President with the authority to confiscate the assets of whoever opposes the US led war.

If the house voted on impeachment on Monday, then Chief Justice Roberts would preside over hearings in the senate and the Republicans and half of the dems would still give Bush a pass. We need still more hearings by the dems and hubris by Bushco, until the people of the USA are so goddamned pissed that the senators who would currently give Bush and Cheney a pass are so scared of losing their jobs that they vote to impeach the bastards.
That's gonna take a bit of time. Meanwhile, more and more members of the house of reps WILL sign on the Kucinich's bill, for starters, until Cheney sees the writing on the (Get the EFF out of town mofo) and gets a note from his doctor and resigns. Then will be the time to go after Bush, with the senate refusing to confirm a replacement.
A lot of polling needs to be done too, to show the republican senators that they will clearly lose their jobs if they don't impeach. But we're not there yet.

This should work something as the senate hearings did during Watergate, which were broadcast on PBS and was a source of information for the public. Qeustion -- would the TV even cover such proceedings now? In this of outrageous absurdities I'm not even sure the networks would. And if so, would he senators even bother to take phone calls and listen to the citizens?

I think the WILLINGNESS on the part of people is there to do the phone calls to say .. "no incumbents reelected unless you get out of Iraq and put impeachment on the table".. is in full swing. There is a groundswell of support that remained untapped previously and that is the great hope.
I made a list out this week of ALL the issues I am following .. and it's just amazingly long, and others have their lists now, too! Big fat looooooooooong ones of abuses they just cannot stomach that have grown out of the Administration that went wild. The VA being ridiculous about vets, torture, unhappy about the Libby "commutation", so-called global warming, hookergate which hit the mainstream news thanx to Vitter, illegal wiretaps, chemtrails, disenchantment after Katrina as people realized the YOYO mentality (You are On Your Own), BOTH Iraq plans being a total failure, voting caging, inflation (no M3 money supply info, people just KNOW), bad schools, bad crime/no cops, the multiple stints in Iraq for troops and mercanies, concentration of the media, 9/11 questions, high gasoline prices not due to inflation but a secret war tax at the pumps, fear of peak oil, the end to the ban on nuclear building being over after 30 years thus exposing US and the water to bad drinking water (a bottom line issue) and new nukes, court delays due to an undone DoJ, voting caging being exposed, brushfires, flooding, weather changes in general, earthchanges, lack of compassion, the rich getting richer (we can see the superprofits), the FDA's dirty hand all over natural medicines, Big Pharma and HMO expenses, incomprehension about Putin and why he is suddenly back in the news, the coming of 2012 for which many have been preparing for YEARS and on and on and on and on.
POINT: There is not one single person, not ONE, who has not been personally -- or had some family member -- affected in some very negative way by this administration.
And they are sick to death of their own cynicism, to boot. What will they have to hand to their children if this goes on unchecked ..? is the current thinking.
I can see the procedural problems, but I also understand MOMENTUM, whereby entrope finds it cannot maintain itself. Once IN MOTION, there is no turning back. Should CONgress drag its heels, woe be onto them, imho.

I do not think we will wait that long. Even with impeachment on the table, the natives are restless if the net is any kind of indication at all. I got out of the cliques, the impeachment groups ages ago and stick with the grassrootz, many of whom do not know they are grassrootz, they think they are pundits (same as me!) and they are calling for blood now. Everyone is sick to death of feeling helpless and hopeless. I think that our cultural wakeup calls were devised last year (SiCkO and so on) and are now hitting the mass of people. People have been reading Armed Madhouse, Confessions of an Economic Hitman, global warming books, books on peak oil, heavy hitting documentaries being shown AROUND THE WORLD .. the culture has changed as no reliance on the lamestream media was possible. I am trying to think of some snappy, little soundbite on this but cannot. It's just that the way we get information has drastically, drastically changed. People know this .. whether consciously or not. This leads me to believe that social institutions that are NOT responsive are going to have a right hard time; ie, CONGress itself. Everybody wants some vision of something BETTER ... and even Bush's ridiculous continual "optimism" and good cheer will not suffice much longer.
Bush's ill health could be a good copout ... LOL. But no one is going to tolerate Cheney. No way! He is reviled by all but the Texa$ boyz and military contractors. The Xian fundies have no real reason to support him. I would think his greatest fear (if he had any survival instinct, which I doubt, he just has a HUGE sense of ENTITLEMENT) is being blown away by some CIA person who is very angry about outting Valerie Plame and letting her cell be exposed to DEATH. Man, if I were him I do not know which way I would be running .. not to Argentina, for sure!
Here is my verdict: this is way beyond social detente now. And the momentum is going to propel things way faster than any of us dares hope; maybe a very bumpy ride for awhile.

So clear, that I now look at my teenage children and I wonder what will happen to them if If bush attempts a total takeover of the gov't. I am deeply concerned as we all should be. He can take away the property of all those who politically opposed and still oppose him. He can imprison them without trial (Habeas corpus); he can use the military to do this in American streets (Posse Comitatus). And he has concentration camps at the ready all over the country. We also have numerous famous people saying that they expect bush/cheney to create another 911 (Paul Craig Roberts and Pat Buchanan for example). I could go on and on, but all this points to one thing and one thing only. Like I said, the writing is on the wall. People, bluepilgrim is right, get ready. Get ready now - and if you think that this is too far fetched - just consider who I am talking about and what the extent of the absolute horrors that they have already enacted. Think TORTORE and going to war based on lies and the snuffing out of 755,000 human beings, and more.
As for you Rob, waiting for more information to be gathered due to the testimony of subpoenaed people who have already refused to come in and have been ordered not to by the same man who has ordered the justice dept. not to enforce said subpoena's - well, that's bullshit. Rob, you would have us wait until...when? Enough already! Let the impeachment proceedings themselves bring out the additional evidence that you claim we need (god, I cannot believe I just said that - like we don't have enough already to impeach 50 presidents - your position is absurd and laughable on it's face) - AND somehow should you be right, and we are impeaching to early - well, good god man, how you gonna get impeachment proceedings going if they get much closer to the end of their terms? Christ I could almost hear you now saying, "what's the use? It will just make us look petty. They are on the way out anyway AND we need to concentrate on the upcoming election."
People, it's now or never. And Rob Kall knows it too. What he's doing is trying to stall us. Don't listen to him anymore. Please in the name of God in Heaven - don't listen to him. We must impeach. Immediately. There is no more time to waste. And someone please copy my post should it get deleted.
