When George Bush confronts his looking glass and says, "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the WORST villain, blackguard, heel, knave, miscreant, rascal, reprobate, rogue, scalawag, scoundrel, swine, wretch, lowlife, scumbag of them all, THE MIRROR REPLIES, "You are, GEORGE, IN A LANDSLIDE! You give a THUMPIN' to Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, President Hahamoud Ahmadinejad of Iran, Kim Jong II, of North Korea and Donald Rumsfeld. Your numbers are now at 25% and your nearest rival (that dastardly bad-man, Osama bin Laden) is only at 8%!!!"
... NOW, to be perfectly fair, Georgie is also the "darling" of 13% of all those answering about who is their "hero" of 2006. He beats out Soldiers and troops in Iraq (6%), Oprah Winfrey(3%), Barak Obama (3%) and, (GET THIS, at only 3%) Jesus Christ as well as Bono. Just a touch of analysis might suggest here that those who select Georgie boy for their hero above Jesus Christ MIGHT, MIGHT, have their priorities a bit screwed up if this is also coming from the Evangelicals.
All of the above is according to a JUST-TAKEN AP-AOL news poll.
It is, however, telling that in selecting VILLAINS, that 25% BAD GUY of the YEAR contrasts glaringly with 13% GOOD GUY of the YEAR. The recent election, like GEORGE'S mirror, mirror, DOES REFLECT THAT as well.
AND, NOTICE that in this poll, BARAK OBAMA is the ONLY politician mentioned in the top six--no John McCain, no Mit Romney, no Rudy Giuliani; NO HILLARY, etc. And one other note: BUSH was the choice of 43% of Dems for VILLAIN, and only 27% of REPUBS for "hero". ...
This poll queried 1,004 adults via telephone from December 19 to 21st. (You'd think Jesus Christ at this time of year MIGHT have done better, wouldn't you?). The margin of error was plus or minus 3 percentage points.
NOW, can you think of ANY reasons why this should be??... Here are a few helpful hints: the Bush administration and the Republican Party has been responsible for policies that have cost lives, destroyed countries and cities, policies that may have an enduring negative impact on the globe and all human life. From Iraq to New Orleans, ignoring global warming to protecting fossil fuels, and rejecting international law and the U.S. Constitution, the Bush administration and its Republican Party allies in the outgoing Congress are responsible for some of the greatest crimes of the 21st century. From lying in order to start a war, to ordering military personnel to break international and U.S. law by torturing people, to breaking U.S. law to conduct illegal surveillance on people in the U.S., George W. Bush takes his rightful place as WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD!!!
I was born when I was yet quite young, and was second-born in a litter of two. My twin sister and I are not now, nor have we ever been, identical as evidenced by our differing balding patterns: she has very little facial hair. If you look us straight in the face, you'll be able to tell the difference. We were, however, womb-mates (and not cell-mates) which nevertheless allowed us to escape strict indivuality for quite some time. In any case, now that we're both in our dotage, I am a stage actor, and she is not. I have had quite a few poems published and am an accomplished oil-paint artist. These are a few aids to help with identification.
THIS was an AP-AOL POLL ... and, OF COURSE, POLE CAT would truly be the stinky kind. I HAD it spelled that way, then I thought ... GARSH! Maybe I oughta HINT that it was a poll in the headline ... ANYWAY, yepper, I know what you mean.
