The Rock Hill Rally & The Hate That I Feel, Don't Apologize for Me!

Tell A Friend

Tomorrow is the day we put a picture to the dissent that America has against this War, and against this administration. We will have pictures of Americans marching for peace and reason in a world that seems to have gone mad. We will make enough noise, and bring enough supporters that Congress and the President will have to take us seriously, or risk an erosion of support, that even this administration won't be able to ignore. When the picture of a hundred thousand people descending on Washington in their minds, maybe Congress will move and impeach this criminal regime that occupies our nations White House. The house where so many of our great presidents have lived. We all know that Bush does not deserve to live there, that it was only through fraud that he managed to get the keys to that front door. Tomorrow we'll be there to tell him that he should end this war, or get the hell out of that house. That if he can't listen to the will of the people, that he can't live in the people's house!

For those that can't make it to Washington, there are many other vigils that will be held throughout this country. My wife wants to go desperately, but she has bed knees, and dragging her through Washington DC would not be in her best interests. She really wants to do her part, so we decided to stay closer to home and attend the rally/vigil at Rock Hill, South Carolina. (Yes, there are good people in the South). It starts at 12:00 Noon (People arrive, at 1:00 it starts). The location is at the corner of Eden Terrace and Oakland Ave in Rock Hill, about two and a half miles from I-77. We would appreciate it if you could tell as many people that you can. It will look good if not only Washington fills with people, but also people protesting in Bush's "base" areas will prove that they are sick of him too.

Let's hope that We get through to Congress. Forget about trying to get through to Bush, that man is beyond reason. For all of those people that are apologizing for the hate that is filling the air from the left, don't go apologizing for me. I don't need you guys saying anything for me. I am sick and tired of watching all my rights get flushed away by Bush and Pelosi and Reid. Congress isn't making any friends by authorizing the military to try civilians and journalist. I'm a journalist, and so are the people apologizing for me. I gave this country their pound of flesh. Don't ever tell me how to act or what is good for me. I'll say what I want, and what I'm saying is that I am really feeling the hate you are so afraid of. I'm sure that Washington and Jefferson and the others that rose against King George hated him too. What's the difference? Instead of taxation without representation, how about dying without representation. What about representation? We have none. Corporations and Special Interests are the only ones that Congress represents. Am I advocating revolution? Not yet. I'll tell you one thing though, I don't make this stuff up.

Get'em Brother!

Godspeed my brother. WE here you loud and clear and could not agree more. The bumper stickers I have been avoiding pasting to my car for fear of ruining the paint just came out of the rear deck shelf and went on the bumper. Paint be damned - and damn these Nazis as well!

Reply: Thanks Bro

We have got to stay together on stopping these madmen. I don't want to hear reasons why they do things. or why we should wait and see, I want Congress to get off their asses and do something! They work for us, and not corporate CEO's sitting in a big office. They have got to remember that they shouldn't bite the hand that feeds them!

Did you watch CSPAN?

There were tens of thousands of us there! Most likely millions, but the media will never let us know the true numbers. ALL were chanting IMPEACH BUSH! The Libby trial will hand Rove and Cheney to the Congress on a silver platter. So they can be impeached, indicted, and imprisoned. Bush is the big dumb fish in a very small pond who will be left. If congress does not act to reign him in and impeach him then we must DEMAND IT!

Las Vegas Rally Against Occupation

Coalition Anti War Rally in Las Vegas January 27 Las Vegas made a statement in opposition to the continuing occupation of Iraq and Bush administration's plans to escalate by increasing troop strength. A coalition of MoveOn, Democracy For America (DFA), Nevada Workers Against the War, the Democratic Party, Nevada Desert Experience, Food Not Bombs, union workers, veterans, family members of active duty military members, and other concerned Nevadans about 160 strong stood in front of the federal government's symbol in Las Vegas, the Lloyd George Federal Courthouse to be heard. A wall of people with signs calling for peace and an end to the Bush occupation of Iraq lined Las Vegas Blvd and passers by made it clear of their support of the demonstrators by honking horns and flashing peace signs. The crowd ranged from young children to retired people, all concerned with the Bush administration's refusal to acknowledge the will of the people in last November's election as a call to end the occupation of Iraq. Only two people showed up as counter demonstrators standing across the street from the main body of the anti occupation groups. Some of the anti occupation demonstrators crossed the street so the pro Bush supporters were outnumbered. One couple wanted to attend an anti war rally drove from Salt Lake City in the morning to attend the Las Vegas rally. Local media was poor in coverage of the demonstration, only two reporters came to the event, one as the rally was breaking up. April, whose brother is serving in Iraq, spoke eloquently concerning the pain of having a family member in harm's way during an interview by the one local TV station that came during the height of the demonstration. Other demonstrators had children and other relatives serving in the combat zone and described the worry that family members must face day in and day out for loved ones who signed up to defend their country not fight for oil corporation's profit and a president's personal agenda. Many labor unions also had members present calling for an end to war fought by young Americans recruited from working class families and the changing of the commitment of the billions of dollars wasted on this war to needs of the people. Veterans present were concerned that service members wounded in the war zones are not being cared for properly when they return home with devastating disabilities. Bush is willing to send our young military members off to war, but is not willing to properly fund the Veterans Administration to care for the wounded when they return. The end of rally put the call out for another demonstration and a meeting of the groups involved in organizing this rally. All present agreed to another demonstration on March 17th the anniversary of the start of this war and occupation in solidarity with other nationally planned demonstrations. Particulars of future demonstrations will be announced through emails, web pages, and by telephone contact. All agreed we need to keep the pressure on our elected representative, especially Congressman Porter who has narrowly won the past two elections and continues to support the Bush war agenda without regard for the people's will in his district.

The moral value of focused, cool hatred for the contemptible

I liked your comment about embracing your hatred and your unwillingness to abandon it at somebody else's insistence. [Disclaimer: what I mean by hate is not uncontrolled, irrational rage or a hot, burning, consumptive obsession, but a cool, self-righteous, principled contempt for and uncompromising rejection of some ideas and the people selfishly and self-servingly committed to them.] This culture teaches that individual hate directed at your personal enemies is wrong and destructive, but that hatred for its "enemies" such as Communists or Muslims or atheists, for example, is patriotic and holy. How self-serving coming from such a detestable and hateful culture, one forged on racism and exploitation of the weak. I couldn't disagree more. Hate is as appropriate an orientation to the pernicious as love is for the nurturing, and for the same reason. Tolerance is a good thing when reserved for peace loving people and nonexclusive ideas. It is not a good thing when afforded to vile, unlovable things like Republicans. I can't find any reason to fear Communists, for example, more than Republicans. Republicans have the similar fascistic values and they have a lot more access to me. Who's more likely to cause me to die as a war casualty, Bush or Castro? Who's more likely to get me nuked, Bush or Kim Jong Il? Why should I hate Communists, who failed to destroy America, more than Republicans, who have succeeded? Such people, including their ditto headed minions, have already abandoned us as a liberals, and they were prepared to throw us to the wolves when Toby Keith and Karl Rove said to do so in the march to war. So, why would it be wrong to hate such people and to fight them without concern for their well-being? They've forfeited that privilege when they betrayed the rest of us and took up with the neocons. Why would you love that? How is it admirable to tolerate that? How about child molesters? Love 'em too? What's the difference? Innate value as a human beings my pitoot! Such people are more valuable to the rest of life in the ground as fertilizer. Incidentally, Republicans, being rife with feces, make fine fertilizer. One ditto head can be converted into about a half acre of trees, a real win-win for humanity and the earth). What ever happened to you reap as you sew? Justice demands that such people pay a price, and I don't see any honor in forgiving them for their betrayal of American principles and the rest of us. The real world is not some New Age vision of rainbows and unicorns where everything gets better if you just think happy thoughts and assume the best about people. That's what religion teaches, and you can see why. It serves entrenched power for people to be so uncritical and accepting of whatever scraps they are thrown. That's who tells you how wrong and self-destructive hate is, people who don't consider you to be any different from a machine or a farm animal, don't want you to have more than you need to live or to know more than you need to work for them without questioning or criticizing their motives, without dissenting, and without challenging the reality of their Christian and American mythologies. Is it good to love and tolerate parasitic, malevolent, lying sociopaths like the Republicans and their dim-witted supporters? No, but it's what Americans are conditioned to do, and they are shamed into not hating the despicable. Where's the righteousness or the adaptive benefit in that? If hating the detestible is wrong, then I don't want to be right. Now admit it, you are trained to find all of this repulsive. You can't say why, except that it violates a moral principle that you have been hearing all of your life. People with my message are demonized. I wonder why?
