We know that activism works. In just the last 24 hours Debra Bowen decertified every DRE (hackable electronic voting machine) in CA, and she did this courageous thing at least in part because of the tens of thousands of messages she was getting from her constituents in the state. We know. We were involved in helping to mobilize those voices.
So too with impeachment. The only hurdle between the consensus of the people and restoring Constitutional integrity is our own dedication in speaking out and encouraging everyone else we can to do the same. And as we look for opportunities to reach out to our fellow citizens with calls to action, we cannot help but notice that the fastest growing networked community on the internet is the Facebook web site. In large part this is because they have opened up their platform to member created applications, which in practical use makes their entire base of about 30 million participants accessible to the activism of each other.
The directly link above will take you to the new VOICES application created by us on the Facebook Platform, which enables any Facebook member to create their own action pages without limit on any issue of their own they care about. They can be either advocacy pages which take one side of an issue, or voting pages which act as a referendum. Either way these action pages send your messages in real time to all your members of Congress at once, plus a letter to the editor of your nearest daily local newspaper if you like, all with one click.
Of course the number one hottest political issue in the country right now is whether Congress should commence impeachment hearings immediately, and against Vice President Cheney in particular, though Alberto Gonzales, Bush and others are also deserving of judgement. In the case of Cheney the votes in the National Cheney Impeachment Poll are coming up fast on 100,000, with 99.17 of those being Yes votes to impeach. And that is why we have chosen this question as the first action page to feature in the new VOICES interface.
If you are already a member of Facebook we ask you to visit this page, vote on it, and then share it with everyone else in your personal network. There are applications in the Facebook community with millions of users. That's what it will take to make impeachment happen. Literally millions of people must contact their members of Congress and pressure them to stand up against the Cheney White House. These are feasible numbers. Among the various activist groups we have hundreds of thousands already. Facebook alone could turn the tide.
Even if you are not a member of Facebook already please take a look at the action page creation function in the new Voices application. We are throwing the door wide open to democracy here. You can take any stand you like on any issue out there, or throw it out for a fair Yes/No vote. We believe that if the voice of the people were in fact expressed it would be naturally progressive. We are not afraid of democracy. We seek to encourage. Each of us has but one voice. But to bring about true policy change we must join our voices together. Which is why we called the new application . . . VOICES.

internet activist with the mission of generating as many policy messages to Congress as possible
During the 109th congress I found it easy to go to the official website of Senators and Congresspersons (dot gov) and usually I was able to write an email message from their site. I have a Republican Representative (Duncan, 2nd Dist TN) and used to write him frequently. After the 110th was installed, I thought the Dems were punishing the Reps by directing me to a common transfer page. But now I find that it holds true for Dems I have wanted to address.
Has a basic rule been changed? What, or who, controls the rerouting? I'm not ready to be paranoid, but I wonder why the change.

not sure what this has to do with facebook, but...all around it has become more difficult to contact reps. when putting together contact info on specific reps to reach for support of h. res. 333 i noticed that many had their d.c. contact info in unusual to find places, small and at the bottom of their sites rather than here I am look forward to hearing from you. that said, i personally would avoid the e-mail anyway. they are often treated as spam, easy to ignore. a phone call or a fax weighs in much heavier in my opinion. and no, i do nt think you're being paranoid. it's all about a shift further away from the republic we are meant to be.

I may be a hardcore denizen of Myspace but even despite all the major mess ups there and its crappier and crappier spam filters it still has its uses. That's not to say that Rupert and Tom can't continually find newer and more diabolical ways of making it a headache for its users. And though I'm often humming to myself 'should I stay or should I go' I still find it an excellant medium for there's still quite a good amount of political networking that gets done there.

Yes, you do have to go into the streets every now and then; and yes, you do need to write your representatives; and yes,.......... we do need need to find some compromising photos of leading Dems to get them to back the motions for impeachment.

but a network of 30 million people cannot simply be disregarded as fertile ground for political activism. and if you join it's 30 million plus one, or not. and we are still extending our resource to their space. or just submit the regular action page.
I can see why you have to mislead people to get them to join your Facebook dating website? It is really crude & it sucks. You can be sure I'm sending Rob an email to expose your little deceiving game in your article.

it is considered a social network. while i do not personally use it, i do know some of the people who are working the impeach campaign from the site and they are hard core, organized impeachers whom rob need not and i am sure is not concerned about. but, then again my answer to the article's question is no, of course not.

there is a Facebook POLITICAL application right now with over two million users in their system for making donations to 501 (c)(3) groups, so clearly there are TONS of Facebook members who aren't only on the make, as you so contemptuously and ignorantly assert.
and what have YOU done today to advance mpeachment?
