NED LAMONT (U.S. Senator from CT)
You asked for a candidate to step forward to stand up to the Bush administration as the junior senator from CT, and Ned Lamont had the courage to do it. Now Ned needs your support to have the strongest primary turnout CT has ever seen.
POLLING PLACE LOCATOR: http://www.nedlamont.com/pollingplace
Do you remember when Joe Lieberman said that residents of CT were too lazy to come out and vote on a hot August day? Do you remember when he insinuated that he could go ahead and disregard the will of the Democratic voters of CT for that reason? We need to show Joe that we can speak out in a voice that will no longer be ignored, to call for our troops to start coming home from Iraq, and to stop rubber-stamping the worst aspects of Bush administration policy.
Is it any surprise that Lieberman hasn't got the backbone to challenge George Bush when he won't play by the rules, when he tries to do an end run around the laws that Congress passes, by refusing to enforce them or attaching some contradictory signing statement? Lieberman himself refuses to play by the rules by running in the Democratic primary without committing to honor its results. All the while he runs a stealth campaign collecting signatures to run as a so-called "petitioning Democrat", even though that would make him NO Democrat at all according to CT law.
In just the last 24 hours we have heard Lieberman try to backpedal on his "stay the course" backing of the underlying foreign policy failure in Iraq. Now is the time for us to come out and support the candidate who isn't trying to have it both ways, who has ONE position on Iraq, that what we are doing there is, was, and will always be wrong. And that candidate is Ned Lamont. Please do your part tomorrow and we can send a message to the whole country that participatory democracy works.
