In Larry King's interview with Jon Stewart, Larry brought up the subject of the elections and asked him if America was ready for a woman or a black president.

Jon looked at him quizzically and said "This is such a non-question. Did anyone ask us in 2000 if Americans were ready for a moron?"

Granted, it's funny - but Bush is only a "moron" in a very

superficial sense. Sure, he's an ignorant vicious pig, a narcissistic sociopath & not even really fluent in his native language. But in terms of carrying out his program, he's been successful beyond anyone's wildest dreams. He had a radical reactionary program & has been absolutely phenomenal in putting it into effect. Aside from failing to privatize Social Security, he has achieved everything he's attempted (except of course for attacking Iran, which may yet be in the cards).

It doesn't help us to laugh at person like this as if he were just a bumbling clown. If he's a "moron," what does that make the rest of us, who have been so pathetically unable to oppose him?

spot on

Anyone who thinks that Bush is a moron has not been paying attention to what has happened the last 7 years:  invading Iraq, domestic spying, SCOTUS and other Federal courts appointments, lax regulation of business, regressive tax and medicare reform, et al.  It's funny for maybe a split second until one realizes how tragically successful this "moron" has been at moving his agenda.  Roger Waters says it best:  he's "nearly a laugh but really a cry..."

Dubya only plays a moron on TV; the 19 percenters who still support him and the corporate media he played for morons.

robert eichmullerreally getting worried !

bush

anybody ever voting for him is an even bigger Moron. Bush is driven by financial interests only, private financial interests and all the simple minded people are paying the price. simple minded, because they actually believe that it is Americas job to interfere and to be in total control. go and invade Iran, the sooner the American ship sinks, the better for the rest of the world. you can not afford another war !

Just like Obama

He got the votes counted from Florida only that he wanted counted.

Obama doesn't want Florida or Michigan counted this time.

Does this mean Obama has "stole" the election?

Cunning, not moronic

Those who disagree with Bush and his policies console themselves by saying he is stupid, and enjoy pointing out what amounts to his functional illiteracy (I believe he is dyslexic myself), but in fact I believe he is a cunning sociopath and not "stupid" at all. He has certainly allowed people to regard him as stupid, and used that perception to run circles around his opponents. We should stop underestimating him.

Stupid or Cunning?

I have this discussion with my wife a lot.  She thinks he is stupid and incompetent while I think he is a con-artist who has successfully avoided the Constitution, the law, Congress, and the will of the people to help big corporations achieve record profits.  No person has been so successful in giving over total control of the USA to big coorporations.  He has transferred power away from the people to big business.

Doesn't sound like a moron to me.

I agree with most comments made. Dubya is no moron only most Americans are. Dubya likewise is not illiterate and if you doubt that just go back and view tapes of him speaking prier to his running for president. The minute he started his campaign is the minute he began sounding like a moron. Primarily because he was playing to his audience and he and his handlers know how oblivious Americans are. Most want a president as ignorant as they are so that is the way he has played it, quite successfully too. Doesn't sound like a moron to me.

I am a retired opera singer. I was a leading soprano with the New York City Opera for ten years. I am a strong supporter of Dennis Kucinich and worked for his campaign in 2004. I believe that he is the ONLY honest man in congress. He has been working against this insane war since before it began. I am 72 years old and I have been so frustrated with the media, the Congress and the American people that they don't tell the truth.

Funny, but not altogether true.

This whole nightmare that we are living in was planned decades ago by the Republicans, the losers in every election for some time. They cleverly dumbed down the American public and put people into power who seemed harmless at the time. Dubya (Thank you, Molly Ivins) is the last in a long line of seemingly stupid, moronic candidates who have taken our country to the brink of total disaster.

While watching Bush watch the returns of the 2000 election night, it was so  clear that the outcome was fixed. At the time that Florida was announced for Gore, Bush looked startled and annoyed. He quickly got up from his chair (you see, it was possible for him to move quickly but just not with the news of an attack on a New York City target) and made a phone call. It was easy to deduce that that call was to make sure that the fix was fixed. And, sure enough, it was!

And we have suffered ever since from not the moronic acts of Bush but the calculating and evil, well planned acts that have destroyed the Constitution and killed untold numbers of Americans and Iraqis and spent what we now know is  trillions of our tax money. This country will never recover from these tragic events, and the saddest truth is that after the election in November, nothing will change. The MSM and the big businesses have taken over our lives and it is unlikely that our economy and our health and our consciences will recover.

Not funny but all true

Caronome I don't understand. You think it was the looser republicans that dumbed down America? How did they manage that if they weren't in power? Are you one of these democrats that just blame dubya and the neocons for everything that is wrong? If so whoever dumbed down America did a good job.

yes we can
Lindayes we can

He is an incompetent moron

Saying he is not a moron assumes he intended to botch the Iraq occupation and intended to lead this country into  recession (if we're lucky, it wont be a depression). He had big things on his agenda but was so utterly incompetent he couldnt make them successful. His big ticket item of getting the Iraq oil failed as miserably as the companies he bankrupted.

The only thing he was good at was surrounding himself with people who were sly and could fool some of the American people into thinking he was a compasionate conservative.

Bush is a legend in his own mind.

I THINK NOT

Linda I believe you are missing the reality behind all of this mess. Fist Iraq has not been botched. It has gone according to plan. Put the country into chaos making it easier to keep down and make huge profits doing it. MISSION ACOMPLISHED. As far as putting this country into depression, that too is in line with the plan. The elites no longer need us to be the consumers, so they are destroying our economy so that we will not be such uppity workers. If you go back and look at our history you will find that everything dubya and the boys have done is right in line with the elites plan for total world domination. And would have happened just as it has no matter who was president.
