As we look at China today, let’s reminisce about the American policy towards China say, some thirty years or so back. A nasty “communist” country with a poor human rights record, and bitter enemy of the US.
The US, however wasn't worried anywhere near as much as it “claimed” to sweat over the Soviet Union. The Russian’s, unlike the Chinese, were well known to have at least as good of military equipment and forces, air, land , and sea to equal the US despite the muscle bound rhetoric of the US.
The US spent trillions of dollars “protecting the free world” from those sonofabitch Ruskies!! If it could shoot, fly, kill, or in any way destroy stuff, the US had to have at least a dozen to offset what the US "claimed" the Russians' had.
When Mr. Gorbachev closed the Soviet chapter of Russian History, the US discovered that Russia had more technology then they first thought.
The Russian’s were the first in space and the first Woman in Space. They have had fewer “accidents” resulting in dead Cosmonauts than the US.
They had the first with high performance aircraft, the Mikoyan Guryevich MiG 15. Still have the finest assault Rifle on the planet, the Kalashnikov AK-47. We could go on for hours and hours about the Russians and what they have and had.
No one argues that Stalin’s way of obtaining all this was diseased in the extreme. But, certainly no worse that the diseased products of the Bush Crime Family and associates.
Now we hear of the drunk, non-vice-president, Dick Cheney badmouthing the Russians and The REAL President of the Russian Federation for backing out on “democracy.”
This from a mutt who’s signed off on every sort of terrorism on earth including invading sovereign nations, mass murder, the events of 911, thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat’s right, Bin Laden may have had some connection, but strictly peripheral. Look at all the data.
But that aside, the Bush regime continues spying on Americans, maintaining secret prisons all over the planet. Locking people away without charge and without access to their families much less legal help, and unequivocal torture.
It’s a shame to hear Javier Solano of the European Union speaking against Russia with Cheney. We sort of hoped the EU would be four score against the tyranny of the Bush Regime. What have the Russian’s done to hinder democracy?
Threaten to sell their Oil in the Asian market if the EU and US keep up their chicanery. Russia just happens to be the largest producer of oil on earth though.
Further, Russia is clearly in Iran’s corner against the rape, pillage and plunder of the US in Iraq and Afghanistan. Here lies the very crux of the US complaint against Russia.
When one looks at the reality of current events, the US is behaving in the same manner it claimed the Soviet Union was, and speaking the very epitome of hypocrisy to the Russians, and anyone else that stands rightfully against the US.
If the Russians started dumping oil on the world's market, they could drop the prices of crude and crush the US Major Oil Thieves.
This would seem to be a good reason not to piss them off. The US could do nothing at all to stop them either. Further, for the sake of the world, they'd be better off not trying.
