Will the Real Osama Stand Up?

It took a few minutes to sink in – the new tape of Osama Bin Laden that was shown and analyzed on MSNBC’s Keith Oberman show on Friday, September 7, 2007.  Perhaps the most striking thing was his black beard.  From all accounts, what sets OBL apart from others, even his most devout followers,  is his devotion to Islam*.  While Islam allows the trimming of the moustache, it calls for fully growing the beard without trimming it.  Coloring it, would be out of the question for OBL.

What was said was even more suspicious.  OBL was said to have been surprised that the democrats were not able to bring the troops home.  The intended message by ‘OBL’ was that Democrats may have House majority, but they are as impotent as they have always  been and clearly the Cheney/Bush team are the emperors.

I also heard that he endorsed reading two books by American authors, one of them Noam Chomsky’s American Imperialism [“Hegemony or Survival; America’s Quest for Global Dominance” 2004] – I have to wonder how ‘OBL’ being on the run and being pursued by the world’s greatest military, the only superpower, and while hiding in a cave with a bounty of $50m on his head, got the chance to enjoy this marvelous and enlightening book?  Or was this a smear campaign to make the Americans relate Chomsky to al-Qaeda?  Here is a brilliant intellectual who speaks to the truth and spills the beans on American foreign policy, what better way to destroy his reputation than to have America’s number one enemy, the leader of al-Qaeda, endorse his work?

And finally, as judge slams down parts of the Patriot Act as unconstitutional, it would seem that Mr. Bush has found a way to remind the American public that they should remain petrified.  Nothing intimidates a nation better than fear, not even ignorance.  Fear will allow more liberties to be taken away, after all, Osama is coming back – full, trimmed black beard and all.

 * Osama Bin Laden framed his anti-US arguments in the language of Islam, but what he was, and continues to voice, is anti-colonist sentiments.  The banner of Islam broke the geographical boundaries to fight and imperial power that had sprawled all over the Moslem world.

beard et al

Interestingly, the black beard was the first thing the media brought up and very quickly with no source cited they indicated that a youthful and vigorous appearance is crucial to Islamic leaders and it is not uncommon for them to dye their beards. Well, I never heard that before, but I would like to see that backed up somewhere. On the other hand, if we are deliberately being fooled you would think they would have added gray.

If you size up a known photo of OBL next to this new video, there is a distinct difference between the distance between the eyebrows and the top of the eyes and his nose is much broader in the new one and his ears very different. I am not one to jump on the bandwagon on this kind of thing, but like many others I could not help but be aware of the differences.

As election season builds it's very curious that the dems are the ones made to look weak (even though they are) in a video tape like this. Also, look at Bush's reaction like 'see even bin laden says al queda is a huge threat in iraq.' Gee, wonder why George.

I should have given the very astute readers of OpEd news more info - sorry.  It is Noam Chomsky's book that bothered me a lot.  He allegedly recommended a book which is authored by Michael Scheuer (not Chomsky), a superhawk who was the top CIA agent for years tracking bin Laden.  If this is 'Intelligence'  - there is no better way to describe oxymoron.  and to darken the beard, yes, henna is permissible in Islam but not for men only women, and certainly not trimming the beard -
OBL is too much of a fundamentalist to go for that vanity stuff and reject Islam's following.

OBL

An obvious fake to anyone with half a brain the minute it appeared.  Bush is so ignorant he makes me cringe. What an embarassment to have representing the USA.

As for OBL, 6/18/06 on the Information Clearing House web site they had an article by an Ed Haas that said.. the FBI says, it has "No hard evidence connecting Bin Laden to 9/11". (interesting article by the way)

I'm also tired of hearing Bush explain something he has babbled or is supposedly doing that it's being done in a way "the American people can understand". I'd be greatly surprised if he understood anything he babbles about. He is an empty shell of a human being at best. I don't know who programs him but they are doing a lousy job of it...(even if they don't have a heck of a lot to work with!)

Another thing that grates on my nerves is the constant use of the word "homeland" mostly by the lamestream media. This is not Germany with Hitler at the helm, this is America, our Nation, our Country...even if Bush does spout  phrases in some of his 'speeches' that Hitler used in his during WW2. Although I must admit, with each new Directive or Execuetive order I do find myself wondering at times just what country this is any more.

For pete sake, lets reinstate the draft as long as Bush, Cheny and all the others so willing for this occupation to continue are first on the list with no deferrals allowed.  Bet that would end it in a hurrry!

Not only does he not look like Osama apparently this faker was talking about everthing from the Democrats to global warming. I wonder where Karl Rove was during the making of this propaganda.

Stand Up...Sit Down!

It's a fake for sure. I read in May '07 from a British paper that Osama died of Typhoid and Saudi Arabia knows as well as the French. I'd like to see a comment by Sarkosky about the supposed obl tape.

It's like you say they have to bring the fear back to get the repugs elected.

On Maher Friday night, he had the colonel assistant to Colin Powell. He made me ill when he said at least they got that ring in Germany but all of Europe and their liberal views harbor Al-Qaeda! Other than that he was not for the Bush clan but I don't put any previous cheerleaders as full truth sayers.

Unfortunately, I feel this was just Plan A by Rove, Cheney and Bush grunts.

ADDITIONAL POINTS

" He allegedly recommended a book which is authored by Michael Scheuer (not Chomsky), a superhawk who was the top CIA agent for years tracking bin Laden."

Yes. Bin Laden is recommending Scheuer for Americans to read. Scheuer is a suspicious character, obviously, as he was supposed to catch Bin Laden for years, but never quite got around to it. There is an old saw about there being no "ex" CIA agents: Once CIA, always CIA.

Scheuer's explanations about the actions of CIA PRIOR to 9/11 are unconvincing. My article regaring the CIA Inspector General report explains some of these actions/non actions.

Back to Bin Laden:

1) Reported DEAD in December 2001 (even by Fox News!) There is no proof that bin Laden is actually alive today.

2) Met with CIA station chief "Larry Mitchell" in Dubai, UAE in July 2001. There bin Laden was treated for kidney problems in the AMERICAN military hospital (French paper, La Figaro).

3) Stayed in Pakistani military hospital in Rawalpindi on September 10 2001, also for kidney treatment (Dan Rather, CBS news).

4) STILL, STILL, STILL has no mention of 9/11 on the FBI's most wanted page.

5) Greg Palast (shill) was handed a classified document that showed that Muslim terrorist "aid" groups in the US were off limits to FBI, including Osama's brother.

6) Osama bin Laden deliberately allowed to escape at Tora Bora. Two roads out, but only one road was blocked. No helicopters or planes attacked the convoy as they fled.

For these and other reasons, I am unconvinced by this latest video offering from bin Laden. There is a lot to be suspicious of, like: How come the US government had the new tape in its possession and was "analyzing it" before "Al Qaeda" even released it?

Riddle me that one, Batman.

PS.

I lost all respect for Noam Chomsky over his callous and ignorant attitudes regarding September 11th 2001. He has nothing to say on the most important event of the millenium. There's something very wrong there, when he can get away with saying that "EVEN IF" the US government was involved, it wouldn't matter.

Yes, Noam. It matters a great deal, you psychotic.

Credibility evaporates quickly when one pushes such nonsense.

(And yes, that is EXACTLY what he said. It's on Youtube.)

Loch Ness Monster

Every year just before tourist season there is a sighting of the Loch Ness monster. I have been an X pat here for over 20 years and it is so predictable that the locals hardly notice.   NOW every year around 9-11 there is a sighting of Osama, hum must be using the same PR company.   What saddens me most is the out right cheek of the fear mongers, at least Nessie is used to sell boat trips anf cuddly animals.   The boat trips are stunning.  But pur wee Osama, yer no as gud looken as ye once wer.    Sheeeeesh  how predictable!!!
