They are all quite mad.

Dick Cheney is seen on camera stating that diplomacy is difficult and then commenting that Peru (whose president is Alan Garcia) deserves a better leader than Hugo Chavez (who is the president of Venezuela, consecutively elected in internationally monitored and certified free and honest elections, by large majorities of the citizens of Venezuela, unlike, say the United States). I admit I have not kept up well with what is happening in Peru (obviously neither has Cheney) but the relative merits of Hugo Chavez do not, I think, impact on Lima all that much. Except inasmuch as Chavez is probably more in tune with the future of Latin America than either Cheney or Bush.

During the emergency meeting on how to deal with the California wildfires, Cheney is seen nodding off and his staff explains that he is not actually sleeping but is practicing meditation.

Dick knows nothing about diplomacy and very little about the dynamics of politics in Latin America. His interest in environmental disasters and their impact on the lives of thousands of Americans is minimal. But I doubt that he nods off in meetings on the Iraq war or on impending plots of bombing Teheran. Dick most probably knows who the president of Iraq is. Dick doesn't care who that is, only that whomever he is he obeys his masters in Washington.

Dick may know about the constitution. Dick does not like the constitution. Dick knows about imperial presidencies. Dick loves imperial presidencies. Dick loves dictatorial power.

Dick is quite insanely obsessed to the exclusion of facts or rationality with establishing American hegemony in the world. Dick is part and parcel of the totally immoral corruption that is raping and ravishing Iraq and raiding the U.S. Treasury openly and arrogantly of billions of dollars in the most obvious of colossal scams in American history.

Dick blithely ignores rampant contractor corruption and murderous mercenary crimes in Iraq and amorally continues his disastrous course of infinite war for profit over the bloody corpses and mangled bodies of Iraqi men, women and children and American soldiers. Dick's connection to and profiting from contractor corruption in Iraq is ignored by the press.

Dick does not meditate. Dick forges ahead, single-mindedly and regardless of mass death and destruction, toward implementation of a totally unrealistic and historically proven-to-fail agenda.

George II, pretender to the Oval Office, continues to spout his long disproven claims of war justification and specious charges against whomever questions his holy veracity as if there is any vestige of validity left to his tortured “logic.” This never actually elected, supposed leader of the free world has public temper tantrums and fits of pique at the dais when thwarted on any aspect of his neocon agenda.

Dick and George, neither of whom had the guts to personally go to war in a cause in which they claimed to believe, without a qualm of conscience, condone and promote torture and pass themselves off as heroic protectors of our nation and twenty-four percent of the populace, an arguable majority of which profess to be followers of an humble Jew who eschewed violence and cruelty for peace and love, believe it.

See Dick and George dissemble. Pretend they are mature, intelligent and mentally stable adults.

Media shills treat Cheney/Bush obviously false public statements as if they have actual merit and commit air time to discussing them while real news swirls in the aether about their sprayed coifs with scant or no attention. Trivial election season inanities and deliberately misinterpreted candidate statements headline every news show.

Network commentators and predictors of political future outcomes, ala William Krystal, have an accuracy percentage in the single digits. Yet they are accorded the title, “Political Experts.” Cable and broadcast panels of supposedly intelligent people in the know on shows such as Hardball, scream at one another like unruly children. Bill O'Reilly yells at guests that they are liars when they disagree with him and cuts off their mikes in mid-sentence.

Britt Hume stares into the camera, looking for the world like Lurch from the “Adams Family” TV show, and proclaims global warming a hoax on the flimsiest of false facts based on total ignorance of science born of a right-wing ideology he is committed to furthering while playing the part of objective journalist.

In the face of seventy to eighty percent disapproval of the executive branch group of psychos and the alarmingly calamitous direction in which they are driving the nation, congress seems unable or unwilling to blow the whistle and yell stop!.

They are all quite mad and we are all living in an insane asylum.
