We are here and we are many but we don’t have a name, a leader or an organization with which to identify – yet. Because we have not had an identification, don’t know each other therefore are fragmented, we have kept silent about some of our not-so Liberal ideas and in my opinion, some of us have been misguided into thinking they are “Conservatives” because ideologically they believed that they had no where else to go. We are what I shall call Personal Responsibility Progressives. I used to call myself a “Law and Order Social Liberal” but that called for a lengthy explanation and did not capture the political & ideological essence.

Personal Responsibility Progressives are those of us blending social and political liberalism with ‘personal & work ethics’ and ‘fiscal accountability’. Among other things, we support Government Social Programs but the social program has to have attached to it some responsibility on the recipient’s part; are not against guns; want tighter borders and immigration policies; would likely vote English as our Official Language; favor Government regulation for the common good but oppose excessive regulation on small business and personal property; support socially and environmentally responsible Businesses; support public school; are environmentalists; understand our religious liberty exists because our Constitution separates church and State; are for privacy rights such as personal choice on abortion; value family - seeing hypocrisy in legalized alcohol and addictive cigarettes while creating a growth industry in prisons which create single-parent families by putting drug users in prison instead of funding Drug Rehabilitation; and that Corporations have too much power over our Government and daily lives.

Imagine” – the devoutly religious hand in hand with the ardent atheist – “And the world will live as one.”

Female, Atheist since early teens, Feminist, Masters Degree - Thesis was on Sexism and Language approx 1978, politically "Progressive" but not Liberal on some issues such as immigration.
