The latest report that the Democratic candidates have raised over $100M is mind boggling and impressive at the same time. It is a clear reflection that the smart money from both business and individuals is betting on the Democrats in 2008. And the business community does understand how important politics and business can be.
The Republicans have known this for years and have exploited this to the hilt. We will see what the candidates do with that money to "feed the hands that bite them." As usual, 90+% will go to the MSM. This is the same MSM that has failed to support independent journalism and informative news dissemination to the voting public.
When I started Air America Radio and continuing now with Nova M Radio, I have asked the political consultants and the candidates to spend some of that money on radio ads for progressive radio stations. Their answers have been primarily the same in their rejections. "Why should we advertise with an audience that we already have on our side" is their response. Now there's loyalty for you. Perhaps they do not realize that there are lots of independent and undecided voters who listen to progressive talk radio. The problem is that the ad rates are really inexpensive on the progressive stations and where's the money in that for the ad agencies who work on a commission basis as high as 15%. And unfortunately the candidates are lousy at managing their money and rely on people who really take care of themselves for the most part.
Therefore, I have decided in the spirit of Senator Chuck Hagel that I will consider running for President. I am not yet setting up a Presidential exploratory commission but you can keep track of my plans at www.novamradio.com. And I can assure you that my campaign ads will only be with progressive talk radio stations.
