The Amazing Study!

John McCain, the U.S. presidential hopeful, Talabani the Iraqi president, Olmert the Israeli prime minister all agree on one thing: the Baker-Hamilton recommendation stinks!

Over the years many things stopped making sense but nothing like this one!

Seventy-nine recommendations addressing all aspects of the Iraqi question, politically and militarily. The members of the group conducting the study has an average age of seventy-five years, but more importantly none had in his days a mess the size of Mesopotamia.

McCain does not like the recommendation rightfully because it is not a recipe for success!

Mr. Hopeful, would we need study if victory were at hand?

The war in Iraq passed the point of success even before it started, the premise of finding WMD that never existed, followed by an attempt to interrupt Sadam Al-Qaeda link that was never established.

Then we dreamed to impose our narrow definition of democracy on people that we know nothing about, while our fearless leaders are exercising a complete and original incompetence managing undefined war with unclear objectives.

We created conditions on the ground that unleashed the monster we wake-up to every morning with both Americans and Iraqis dying.

Sir, are you still looking for a victory?

May be we needed a group of magicians with long hats and wide sleeves, and probably while we are busy watching their amazing tricks three more years, three thousand more kids will pass by while the miracle is still in the making!

Mr. Talabani the Iraqi president rejects the study outright. His reasons are legitimate, he thinks that America does not have the right to impose timetable on his country. He considers the recommendation clearly undermined his country's sovereignty.

Mr. President, undermined what?

Iraq is under occupation in case you did not notice; you live in a fortified castle guarded by American kids.

Mr. Talabani is right; the recommendation stinks because probably he will be hanging from the last poll standing in Baghdad the day our army leaves Iraq.

Mr. Olmert the Israeli Prime Minster panicked and rejected any link between the US quagmires in Iraq (that is his words not mine) and the Israeli Palestinian conflict.

Three years ago Bush and Sharon the former prime minister of Israel promised that the creation of a democracy in Iraq would solve the Palestinian question. Bush even said that the Israeli/Palestinian solution go through Baghdad not Jerusalem.

I am an Egyptian American born in Alexandria. I immigrated to the US in the late eighties, during this time lived in many places in US and Europe. I work as an IT manager and love it. I love to travel, it makes me feel young, and it awakes in me sense of adventure and curiosity. I love knowing people from different cultures; it never fails to amaze me how we all live in our little worlds that never meet. History is my second amazement, it always differ depending on who is winning, that leads me to my third hobby, politics is it history or human nature that is the culprit?
