Who is Ron Paul and why is he inspiring a generation? I first heard about Ron Paul from my then seventeen year old son. He was so excited by this guy running for President that I actually went in to his room and sat in front of his computer to look at what had him so energised about politics, politics ? That's the last thing in the world I had ever expected him to become excited about. So I listened and watched video after video, together father and son. Bonding in a way that still amazes me. I am forty four years old and here I was sitting watching youtube hour after hour with my son. Having incredible intellectual conversations with my kid. We talked about the constitution, we talked about abortion , we talked about the war in Iraq, the war on terror, we talked about our Goverment and the rights of the people, we talked about, Israel and world economies, that I knew he had never had any interest in before this incredible man made it so clear to him.
The most surprising thing of all was that it was me who was learning from him. From my son, I was learning about the Constitution, I was the one being schooled in Goverment and politics from a seventeen year old kid.
What could have possibly happened to him in such a short period of time?
How did he come to know so much that had passed me by?
He quoted the second amendment , the sixth amendment , the first amendment, the sixteenth amendment of the US. Constitution, to me! My seventeen year old kid, who previously cared only about the newest video game or staying out an extra hour after his curfew. I didn't even know what the sixteenth amendment was.
What could have motivated him to be so concerned all of a sudden about politics?
Politics ?
Well I can tell you personally what did it.
His sense of right and wrong, his sense of good and evil, truth and justice, that was brought forward by this kindly old man making sense on youtube.
Making sense and alot of it.
I too have now become a Ron Paul advocate, I have never written a blog in my life , I have never considered getting involved in the political process and I certainly would never had considered writing my opinions on political web sites.
I have been telling everyone I know to listen to his message, and they are, not only are they becoming converts as well, they are also telling their friends and relatives about him.
Today I actually called in to several radio shows, I have now written six or seven letters in support of this incredible awe inspiring man, who is inspiring an entirely new generation of Constitutionalist.

Ron Paul
Ron Paul isn't the god you think he is. Ron Paul wants most everything privatized. He opposes a separation of church and state and wants the government promoting religion. He wants to end the minimum wage so businesses can pay workers as little as they want. Paul also opposes government regulation of business. Ron Paul also supports drilling for oil and doesn't give a crap about destruction of the environment. Check out Dennis Kucinich. He's the one who you should support. by Ty (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 888 comments [2 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Sunday, Sep 9, 2007 at 2:06:51 PM

Reply: Ron Paul
Unlike the current administration, Ron Paul beleives that the Congress should be involved in the political process. Although many of his views are a bit radical and may seem extreme none of them can happen without the full consent of the other branches Goverments. Furthermore in regards to your statement about Ron Paul being against the separation of curch and state, I have heard him say the exact opposite in an interview with Google. ( candidates @ google ) available on youtube. It's not that he doesn't beleive in the minimum wage or oversite of Corporations. He wants the individual States to decide in their own State what's best for that State to basically take the Federal govt. out of the equation. For instance on the matter of abortion , he wants each State to decide for their own State, If a particular State is more conservative they would have the ability to make abortion illegal, and ofcourse the more liberal States would have it remain as it is. However I think you missed my point, I think we would all be better served to have two candidates that have the goal of getting out of Iraq. If enough democrats would vote in the Republican primaries for Ron Paul and he gets the nomination, then we would have just that. Lower Goverment spending is the bonus we get with Paul, that I don't see with the Dems. The problem with Kucinich is to me is he seems weak and meak and that's not what I am looking for in President with the kind of future we have in store for us over the next eight years. by Logical Response (2 articles, 0 quicklinks, 6 diaries, 16 comments) on Sunday, Sep 9, 2007 at 6:33:50 PM

Reply: Where do you come off making such a ridiculous claim???
You demonstrate UTTER IGNORANCE of Ron Paul and his message of liberty, when you claim Ron paul is against the separation of church and state! RON PAUL absolutely supports separation of church and state--he does NOT want to interfere with an individual's religion, AT ALL! Any and ALL of Ron Paul's political positions are based on the Constitution of the United States. by Dennis Berlin (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 3 comments) on Monday, Sep 10, 2007 at 4:06:14 PM

Lesson Learned? Not yet, but we will!
One must ask such questions as where does Ron Paul stand on five or ten key issues: 1. Labor Unions vs. Management? 2. Free National Health Insurance for every citizen while doing away for healthy only for profit the way it now exists. 3. A graduated income tax where the richer pay a higher percentage of income tax than the poorer over against the "flat tax" which knocks poorer people flat. 4. Where does Ron Paul stand on Social Security-- spelled out understandably to ramifications? 5. Where does Ron Paul stand on National free public education even through college, but especially through High School? What is his position on private school vouchers? 6. Where does Ron Paul stand on the control of hand guns? Is he a card carrying NRA member? 7. Where does Ron Paul stand on anti-tort legislation? On Iraq? His position is only unique because he is a Republican; all the Democrats hold just about the same position.I was going to let you figure out 8-9-10; however, please note where Ron Paul stood on the last two Supreme Court Justices which will tell us much about him that these Ron Paul supporters on this blog do not want us to know about him. As far I can gather living in Texas and Oklahoma the last fifty years, Ron Paul is a libertarian Republican close to the Grover Norquist position. by pratliff94 (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 972 comments) on Sunday, Sep 9, 2007 at 4:27:43 PM

Ron Paul and the others
It is a bit baffling why someone would ask basic questions about Dr. Paul in a forum such as this, when the answers are to be found elsewhere on the internet. Homework can be fun. To Ty: Yes, Dennis Kuchininch is a fine candidate, and I don't think you see anybody here misrepresenting his positions as you have done with Dr. Paul. Homework is also useful. I am glad that the writer above found Dr. Paul (via his son) and is excited about supporting him. That is what has happened for many who were previously disinterested in politics, or had chosen to opt out of what is inherently a corrupt system. One quality that Dr. Paul has, which the others do not, is the ability to inspire a kindredness that unifies people and groups that normally would not even speak to each other. Many of us are united by--to paraphrase Lincoln--"the better Angels of our nature." What also needs to be stated is that most of the other candidates are members of the Council on Foreign Relations, or CFR. This is a highly manipulative organization, going back to the 1920's. It has steered our involvement with the United Nations, the WTO, GATT, NAFDA and the likely North American Union. The CFR's primary goal is one world government (as David Rockefeller describes in his Memoires) and the end to U.S. sovereignty. So far they have succeeded. Our dollar is down; we are in deep debt to the Peoples' Republic of China, Mexican trucks are rolling into the heartland, the MidEast war is draining our resources in lives and materiel, and terror seems to be the rationale for trashing the Constitution and suspending our liberties. There is a good deal of info on the CFR on the internet also, and homework can be fun, if depressing. The CFR Candidates are: Romney, Giuliani, McCain, Fred Thompson, Clinton, Obama, Edwards and Joe Biden. The NON-CFR candidates are Kuchinich, Huckabee, Gravel and Ron Paul. I would support any one of these four before a CFR member. What is most impressive to me about Dr. Paul is this: no matter how artfully the media tries to discredit or smear him, he continues to attract more supporters and, every day, does a little better. by zenpiper (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 16 comments) on Monday, Sep 10, 2007 at 8:45:09 PM

Reply: Thanks for your support
Since you seem to be a Ron Paul supporter. check my diaries for a list of states that allow all voters to vote in the republican primaries.. Then circulate it around as much as possible. If we get enough Dems and Indys to vote for Ron paul in these states, we very well might have two candidates that both want a speedy exit from Iraq. by Logical Response (2 articles, 0 quicklinks, 6 diaries, 16 comments) on Monday, Sep 10, 2007 at 9:02:40 PM
