Don't look now, but gas prices are coming up again. Oh, it's true. Just yesterday as I was heading to my harp lesson, I saw that the price for regular unleaded had climbed from a low of $1.92 per gallon back up to $1.99 per gallon.
Oh, and it's not like the seeds of the reason for this hadn't been planted. About two or three weeks ago, supposedly OPEC wanted to cut supply in order to raise the price of crude. The market did react, and crude oil prices went up slightly. However, there was no corresponding increase in the price of gas at the pump. As a matter of fact, it dropped mysteriously from $1.97 per gallon to $1.93, where it remained for a little while before dropping to its lowest level, $1.92.
The last I heard, OPEC was not united on wanting to cut production. As a matter of fact, some members were railing against the idea since oil was selling at a really nice clip, and profits while not as high as they had been, were still high enough to keep everyone happy.
Now I admit that I haven't watched the news for the past few days. I could have missed a story that told me that OPEC had finally come together, and was dropping production to raise prices. However, I do check my email every day, and by doing so, I check Yahoo News to see what's happening.
While Yahoo news has been a little lax in keeping up with who's telling tales out of school with Foleygate, they have pretty much kept up on the gas price story. I haven't seen the word "OPEC" in some time. My assumption was that the organization was still in a bit of disarray, and therefore, gas prices were safe, for the most part anyway. My assumption remains that this is the case, since OPEC really doesn't have that much to do with the final price of gas at the pump. That is a product of price manipulation on the part of the Oil Pigs, and their obsequious political whores, the Republican Party.
As a matter of fact, I made a prediction of the coming rise in gas prices in my article entitled, Have you noticed the Gas Price Drop?, http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_robert_r_060914_have_you_noticed___a.htm You watch, either way the mid-term elections go, you can bet that oil and gas prices will find a way to start rising some time after November. The hope is, if the Democrats do take over the Senate, this time around, there will be a real investigation of the shenanigans pulled by the Oil Pigs.
Well, I was off a little bit on the timing, but I was right by saying the prices would come back up again. It's fairly safe for the Oil Pigs to start jacking up the price of gas at this point because Americans are too caught up in other things to think about it. After all, Christmas advertising is already hitting the airwaves, and it's not even Halloween yet. Sheesh!
So, to anyone who doubted my words about the manipulation of fuel prices, let me say this: "I TOLD YOU SO!"
Strangely, for once, I wasn't the only one thinking along these lines. Just a few days ago, there was a poll put out by the local ABC affiliate here in Dallas. The question was, "do you believe that gas prices have been manipulated?" In what I found to be a rather stunning, yet completely telling response, 68% of the respondents said they believed that gas prices were being manipulated.
Well, for those 68%, I now offer you even more proof. Gas prices are on the rise, and as of yet, there has been no explanation given in the media as to why that is. Oh, and don't go looking for one anytime soon.
That's not to say there won't be excuses or lies about why gas prices are going back up. You can bet any part of your anatomy you wish there will, in fact, be many cover stories and fabrications as to the increase at the pump. However, they won't be explanations at all. They will be what they have always been, lies, fabrications, distortions, and attempts to hide the truth about the situation.
What is the truth? The Oil Pigs and the Republican Party are in collusion with each other to continue the raping of the wallet of the common man. Gas prices fell so that they would no longer be an issue in the upcoming midterms. Now that it is clear the likelihood is high that the Democrats are going to take over at least the House, there is no more reason for the ruse to continue. The Republicans want to take the last bit of money they can grab from the Oil Pigs before they are out on their collective asses. So, it's Katy, bar the door!
If one is to read between the political lines here, the story is quite clear. Gas prices came down to eliminate a concern from the ever-troubled minds of voters. At the time, the idea worked perfectly. However, in the mean time, other issues arose which were of even more import, and more concern. Issues such as Foleygate, the continuing saga of the Abramoff Scandal and its victims, David Kou's book slamming DUBYA and Hot Karl, and a few others have come down the pike to completely overshadow the price of gas at the pump. And, with the biggest concern being Iraq, it's abundantly clear no one gives a shit about the price of fuel any longer.
So why not crank the price up again? It's a non-issue. The Republicans are feeling the heat, and they want their last pound of flesh before they are forced out the door. The Oil Pigs have been forced to only drive the Bentley instead of the Rolls, and they are wanting back into that full-fledged luxury.
I can't wait to hear this latest round of "reasons" for the gas price increase. Oh, I'm sure the oldies but goodies will be topping the hit parade, along with the presumptive assholes telling us there is more to gas prices than supply and demand. I'm also sure there will be plenty of intellectually numbing bovine excrement spewed at the American public as well in attempts to get us back into line, and paying exorbitant prices for our daily fuel fix.
Ah, America: the land of the free, and the home of the easily hoodwinked. Well, maybe not this time.
It seems as if I am not the only one to notice the rise in gas prices. In doing a quick check via google, it seems that gas prices are indeed climbing their way back up all over the country. Not only that, it seems that the increase is coming at a rate slightly ahead of the rate they declined. Boy howdy, talk about making up for lost profits.
It seems to me that the Republicans are truly coming apart at the seams. They are facing scandal after scandal, with no sign whatsoever that there will be any resolution of any of them before November 7. They are distancing themselves from DUBYA and Fat Hastert. David Kou's book is tearing the christian support away from them. And now this.
The Republicans are self-destructing before our very eyes, folks. I can see it no other way. Why else would they allow gas prices to rise, and rise so quickly? The scandals of congress, and the continuing mess that is Iraq are hard enough for them to overcome. Now on top of all that crap, they are allowing gas prices to rise once again? Either they are all certifiably insane, or they can read the writing on the wall. They want to get as much as they can get before they are in a position where they can get nothing. While I can't really blame them, I can say that by taking this tack, they are exposing one more lie in their festering bag of dirty tricks. Bless their hearts!
They must know their collective political geese are cooked! Everywhere I look in the news now, there is one more story telling me how badly they are doing around the country. How could they not know?
I, for one, can't begin to express how happy I am because of their collective problems. We may just get to see a real shake-up in congress, and won't it be refreshing? I knew if they stole enough political rope, they'd all hang themselves with it...and now we see the proof almost everywhere we look.
Keep at it, guys! Maybe with you schmucks out of office, the regular people like myself might stand a chance of getting a life again.
Blessed be!

I am sure the Oil Pigs are going out of their way to give the appearance of having nothing at all to do with the current rise in gas prices. I am sure there are plenty of articles about what's happening. While there may be a small grain of truth in some of these, especially since I know that the OPEC saga has been somewhat ongoing, I still have good reason to believe that what is happening at the pump is price manipulation.
As I said in other articles on the topic, I won't presume to know all the nuances of the oil and gasoline markets. However with that said, I also know when someone is pissing on my leg and is telling me it's just a warm summer rain.
To me, the unprecidented upward spiral followed by a meandering fall further followed by yet another upward motion is nothing other than price manipulation. In other words, that warm, wet feeling on my leg isn't coming from an atmospheric source. It's coming from a source much closer to the ground...about three feet above it (on average).
It's not just the meandering of gas prices that make me suspicious; it's the timing. Gas prices originally began falling three weeks before Labor Day; an unprecidented happening. At the time, the number three issue on the minds of voters was gasoline prices. Less than a month after the drops began, gas prices were no longer an issue. Mission: Accomplished...well, almost (seems to be a trend, don't you think?)
Unfortunately for the Republicans, other issues took center stage; issues not as easy to control as the price of gas. Now, with less than two weeks to go before the midterms, when the Republicans can clearly see the damage that one too many scandals has done to them, they know their jig is up. At this point, why not let gas prices rise? It's not going to make one bit of difference since their collective geese are already cooked. At least the Republicans can get a little more graft and kickback from the Oil Pigs to ease their way back into private life. While it's not as cool as having a seat in congress, it's sure to make sitting at home on their spreading asses a lot easier to take.
So, while the OPEC situation could be the cause of the upswing in gas prices, I really doubt it. This whole OPEC thing started while gas prices were still coming down. As a matter of fact, there was a three week stretch where the price of gas continued to fall as the price of crude went up slightly. If gasoline and crude oil prices are so intertwined, that wouldn't have happened. There wouldn't have been a three week delay. I smell a rat!
I have heard far too many cover stories blaming gas price increases on total bullshit, then blaming their fall on the same things. I simply don't buy any of them. I look at it in regard to the principle of Achem's Razor (remember Contact with Jodie Foster anyone?). Given two explanations for the same thing happening, the simplest explanation is always right.
Therefore, am I to believe that a nervous oil market coupled with political unrest in the Middle East which has not moderated in the mean time has caused the rise and fall of gasoline prices? Or am I to believe the price of gasoline was simply manipulated, and all the reasons and stories given for price fluctuations were merely red herrings?
Well, the simplest explanation sure seems to be the best one. It would explain a lot. Also, given that both DUBYA and Dick(LESS) Cheney still have ties with and friends in the oil industry, only someone who had already sold their mental faculties to the status quo would believe we weren't being bent over and screwed each time we stick the pump handle into our fuel filler neck.
Blessed be!

I have to agree. There is a local gas station here in Tigard, Oregon that I like to use as a gas price 'barometer' if you will, and he 'bottomed' out the price at $2.27.9 for regular, and kept it at this price for about the last 2 weeks in October. Come November, he got a jump on the elections by raising the price of regular to $2.31.9 on Monday, Nov. 6, 2006. Today, Nov. 9, 2006, as I was driving by this gas station, I noticed that he had raised the price for regular again, this time to $2.37.9. A $0.10 per gallon increase in less than a week. Makes a person wonder. So, now that there is nothing to stop the oil companies from raising prices, and depending on where you live, you can problaby expect to see gas back up around the $3.00 per gallon mark by Christmas, or maybe even earlier. Perhaps by Thanksgiving.
Just my observation.
