Barack Obama is a devout Christian -- not a Muslim -- who prays to Jesus every night.

On Sunday, March 2, the Associated Press reported that Obama told a rural town hall meeting in Ohio that he was tired about questions about his religion, that he is a devout Christian, that he prays to Jesus every night, and that they would feel "right at home" at his church in Chicago.

I laugh until I cry

After almost 8 years of a born-again Christian fundamentalist in the White House, with a self-describe destiny to remake the world in his own image, do we want yet another weird Jesus-freak running things? No wonder this Obama guy talks like a TV evangelical preacher on yet another God's mission to remake the world on his own image. The world look at this and laugh their stomach out. America decended into the Dark Age of the 21 century.

Yawn...

Unfortunately, the religious views of a candidate can have a large influence on who votes in support of them.  Anne Coulter is fond of labeling liberals and the left wing as 'G*dless' in hopes of igniting a firestorm of support for the idolatrous right-wing candidates and the big money deities that they worship (in all fairness, it's both parties that pray/prey to that golden calf)...  The Evangelicals got behind Bush and were used by him to a great degree... and McCain, after sinking yet another White House bid in part because of his offending dismissal and exclusion of that vast voting segment, is now courting them back like a good little wooer -even kissing Jerry Falwell's ass in his very publicized visit to Liberty College! Like it or not, religion IS politics!

While I'm inclined to favor a secular view when it comes to government, there still needs to be a basis in moral reasoning behind the approach to governing.  However, that's not to say that any one faith is more acceptable by me to any other... it is rather the level of fanaticism and the particular works that the individual indulges in that should throw up some warning flares and beacons in regards to how their beliefs will influence and/or dictate their governing.  To any sane voter, this is the intelligent way to gauge the relevance of a candidate's religious fervency.

Personally, I'm as likely to vote for a bona-fide Satanist as I am for another so-called 'Christian'...
