I'm Sick and Tired of Losing:

Good Morning Middle America, The King of Simple is a little wordy today, but please read through this article; it’s important to all of us.

As I have watched this whole hideous nightmare of a presidential campaign unfold, I realize how hopeless it is to expect meaningful change from our current system of government. And most certainly we will not see meaningful change for Middle America, who has been totally written off by our leaders as an unsalvageable group.

The continuation of a strong Middle America would require the ultra rich who own and operate our politicians to take a lower profile. That isn’t going to happen under our existing government structure. We need both campaign finance and term limits; neither of which we are going to see under our present or prospective future leadership.

What I realized this past week more than anything else is that I’m sick and tired of the whole charade. I’m sick and tired of waiting. I’m sick and tired of broken promises, poor leadership, non-existent planning and being pandered to.

I’m sick and tired of watching politicians lead a life of implausible leisure and privilege while those who they represent sink into a recession of indefinite depths.

I’m sick and tired of watching our leaders travel first class with limo service and private jets, while those who they represent can no longer afford food and fuel.

I’m sick and tired of our leaders having world class health care provided partially by the labor and taxes of 50 million Americans who have none.

As I watch a Republican President and Vice President preside over a majority Democratic Congress, with few exceptions, I see losers all and failures of the highest level.

Yet three of these profound and demonstrated underachievers are running for President of the United States. Not one has the ability to accomplish anything more than they have demonstrated in the past.

Our country is in crisis. Our jobs are being shipped abroad, our borders leak like sieves, we have an endless war raging, inflation on food and fuel is crippling our families, Americans are losing their homes in record numbers, the world has food shortages and our leaders spend their time arguing like children. When is enough, enough?

When I see the boat sinking, I want to see everyone bailing, not out running a senseless multi billion dollar campaign of lies. If these candidates are leaders and have the ability to bring us together and influence positive change; then why the hell don’t they go do it?

All three presidential front runners are current members of Congress. Rather than rant and rave and place blame, go back to your job and do something! Solve our problems, bring the Congress together, take some action and show us your stuff. That, should be the path to the White House.

But then, they have shown us their stuff and I’m sick and tired of it.

Why doesn’t one of these presidential candidates go back to Washington and say, “Hey, we don’t have time to spend talking about explosive dust and coral reefs, we don’t have time to chastise the banks or talk about steroids in baseball, we all need to focus on the fact that America is in severe crisis.”

But see, if any one of them did so, that person would have to have an acceptable solution; and they don’t. Yet, we are willing to elect one these people to the highest post in the land.

I see no possibility of swift and positive change with the current cast of characters. I wrote a column some time back where I demonstrated that the word “radical action” is not always a bad choice. When a “radical correction” of an aircrafts course results in reaching an airport prior to running out of fuel; it is an excellent choice.

Mike Folkerth is the author of "The Biggest Lie Ever Believed" and is not your run-of-the-mill author of finance and economics. The former real estate broker, developer, private real estate fund manager, auctioneer, Alaskan bush pilot, restaurateur, U.S. Navy veteran, heavy equipment operator, taxi cab driver, fishing guide, horse packer and few jobs too embarrassing to mention, writes from experience and plain common sense. Mike's humorous systems of "Mikeronomics" and "Mikemathics" drastically simplify the economic and mathematic formulas commonly used by very smart, but terribly sheltered individuals.
