Good Morning Middle America, your King of Simple News is on the air.

Divide and conquer is the strategy that has been employed for years in American politics and I might say; it is working well.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but the tags of “Crazed liberal whacko environmental scum sucking nut jobs” on one side, and “Rich corporate war mongering conservative neo-con globalist traitors” on the other side, is wearing a little thin with me. I think they are talking about my neighbors?

But that is where we are isn’t it? The purposeful never ending war that is waged between so called liberals and conservatives is far more destructive than Iraq will ever be. We are all in the civilian military waging war against our neighbors and don’t even get paid for it.

The politicians on one side of the aisle blame the ones on the other side of the aisle for everything that goes wrong. And, we believe them.

Clinton did this, Reagan did that, Carter started it, Bush finished it, Roosevelt and Hoover get thrown in to the mix and the argument pursues endlessly while we pick the best of the worst candidates to vote for.

That line in the sand is imaginary but absolutely necessary in order that no administration takes certain blame for their actions that cannot be unloaded on the former or the next administration or the one from 50 years ago. Otherwise, we would have one dominant party that did all the right things and one ostracized party that did all of the wrong things, but don’t worry, that won’t happen. We aren’t interested in right and wrong, we are interested in left wingers and right wingers.

Let’s take one example of recent times, the Reagan haters and the Clinton lovers vs. the Clinton haters and the Reagan lovers.

Reagan did in fact restore our economy from a near free fall. Clinton did in fact balance the budget. Reagan did so by running the National Debt up from around $850 Billion to north of $2 Trillion. Clinton actually raised spending but raised taxes even more while at the same time adopting NAFTA and the WTO in back to back years which guaranteed the wholesale downfall of Middle America.

So who is the hero and savior; the liberal or the conservative? Neither of course. The American people have and will suffer long term consequences from the ill thought policies of both administrations. The trick to any successful administration is to be able to say, “It was alright when I left.” Both men said as much. Both men were lying.

What have you done lately to further the good of the America’s masses other than rail on the politicians who are counter to your chosen political army? We are in control you know? But not divided we aren’t. The political machine with all of its grandeur is in control and common good is not part of the equation. One side calls the other names and we agree. We detest our neighbor’s for their political leanings, but we have never gone over to meet them.

In this election, there is not one top tier candidate remaining that is telling the truth or has the slightest clue as to how he or she will pull us out of this recession. But who cares? They are carrying the banner of our chosen political army and if we have to sacrifice our cumulative futures and those of our children and grand children’s futures, we’re stickin’ with ‘em because we hate those other guys; those ones that we have never met, but we have heard the sound bites from our candidates and they hate them so we hate them. Sounds like a good plan to me.

Wake up America, we were drafted for mortal combat and didn’t even know it.
