Let’s all just calm down and wait until November until we see who actually gets elected. After that, we can enjoy Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years while we wait for the January inauguration. After that we can give it a couple of years to see what changes our new president in going to make. And then if he or she doesn’t make the changes that we think are necessary to save our way of life in America, we can join a new campaign to elect a new president who will make the proper changes.
How do you think that the 3 million people who have lost their jobs in industry over the past several years would take the above statement? What about the thousands who are unemployed in the construction and finance sectors of our country? If you were to address a group of Michigan auto workers with the above statement, combat pay would be in order; they’re already in a war zone.
Thousands of Americans are either unemployed or underemployed. Thousands more will join the ranks in the coming months. And we are concentrating on who will win the election? Geez!
Yet, I listen to the presidential want to be’s tell those in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and other manufacturing states that if elected they will bring the jobs back. Hogwash, where the hell were they when these people were losing those jobs? I can tell you, they were sitting on their dead butts enjoying a life of implausible wealth and privilege.
Now is the time to force action. Now is the time to put pressure our sitting elected officials to do something. If they want to be elected or reelected, do something to be reelected for. And do it now.
Try going into your job and telling the boss that you will do something next year, but you want to be paid this year while you are deciding what it is that you will do next year. And since everything that you did do in previous years is proving disastrous to the company, you are definitely going to do something different next year as soon as you come up with what ever it is that you are going to do differently. Before you actually tell your boss all of these things, get your resume up to date.
America is a country where the citizens are upset if the hamburgers aren’t coming out the food window by time they arrive there from the pay window 50 feet away. We are irate at the traffic signal for changing one car before we get through and have to wait for 2 minutes. We expect e-mail replies within minutes and mail delivered across the country the same day.
On the other hand, we are willing to wait for years to see if our leadership is going to come through with a plan to keep our jobs and economy intact. Say what? Here’s a news flash; they haven’t, they didn’t, and they aren’t going to, unless the boss gives them an ultimatum. That boss is YOU. If says so in the rules.
Lest we forget, there are 540 members of Congress who have a job to do right now, put the pressure on them right now. Its’ time to fish or cut bait. What say you?
