"Let's Roll": The Lessons of United 93

Let's say you're a passenger on a 737. You paid the ever-increasing price to jam your ever-widening butt into an ever-shrinking seat. Yep, you whipped out the plastic to willingly endure zero leg room, artificial air, phony friendliness, something loosely resembling food (sic), edited-for-mass-consumption movies, and it doesn't matter whether you're seated near the left wing or the right wing...the pilot calls the shots. If you choose to speak up, you can guarantee there'll be a uniformed, armed servant of the State waiting for you when the plane lands.

Can anyone say "microcosm"?

However, on the topic of plane rides, there is one type of rebellion that's always welcome in the home of the brave...and the more violent it is, the better. Rise up against official U.S. enemies and they'll make movies about you, build statues, write speeches, and all that good stuff. The powers-that-be in the land of the free may pretend to admire pacifism but never forget: Genuine hero worship is reserved for those ready, willing, and able to shed blood even if it may cost them their our lives.

Case in point: The random group of strangers that boarded United Flight 93 on September 11, 2001 were forced to weigh options they likely never previously considered in any serious manner. Sure, at first, most of them probably imagined that going along quietly was the best choice, the safest path to resolution. Don't anger anyone, stay calm, and hope/pray for the best. Eventually, when the situation passed the proverbial point of no return, it became crystal clear that drastic measures were called for. The criminals had to be stopped...by any means necessary.

Which brings us smoothly back to the concept of microcosm. "Going along" is never the best choice. There is no "safe path to resolution." You can hope and pray all you want but it's action that alters scenarios. We're spoon-fed lines like "Give me liberty or give me death" and "I only regret that I have but one life to give for my country," but we've become a passive population of easily duped drones. Still, as the story of United 93 demonstrates, a couch potato can quickly morph into a resourceful fighter...and it all started with two tiny words: "Let's roll."

There's a good point here, though I just know it will be

lost by those who will jump to point out that the real story of Flight 93 is probably nothing like the official version.

Putting that aside, however, there's a vital point being made. All us "passengers" who have been riding the good ship "Duopoly" for too long are in dire straits, past the point of no return. If we just keep sitting in our seats, obediently hoping that the usual management will be able to bring the ship safely to port, we're going down.

My name it means nothing, my age it means less. My deeds of activism are mine to enjoy and share as I feel necesary, not as some clown in a small forum's administration thinks I must..This place gets worse each and every visit.

Human nature

"When great changes occur in history, when great principles are involved, as a rule, the majority is wrong."

Sadly this Eugene V. Debs citing is rather accurate. Mores the point, I think, that we have been manipulated into acting like a herd of sheep by the failures of our system of education, by our desire to be treated as nothing more or less than a voracious consumer of cheap and shoddy little toys. Most of us, I fear, are so afraid to rock the boat lest what we have is taken away. Yet what we have is a lifetime of debt, incurred to purchase garbage that seldom lasts beyond the credit card debt we incur to purchase it.

"I do not believe in a fate that falls on men, however they act. But I do believe in a fate that falls on men unless they act."

GKChesterton

As long as we the people remain disinterested in politics, and the folks like John Kennedy, Martin Luther King, John Lennon even, show plainly that we can be induced to become passionate about politics by real leaders we will remain enslaved with the illusion of a nonexistent freedom.

"What lies before us and what lies behind us are insignificant compared to what lies within us."

I believe, as did Oliver Wendell Holmes, that committed people can move mountains. I believe in the ultimate ability of the American people to overthrow those who have corrupted our freedoms and used our increasing  disinterest in our democratic processes to build an empire for themselves. I believe that this will happen , and sooner rather than later.

Call me a cockeyed optimist but the increasing machinations, lies and distortions, the clumsy cover ups all point to the fact that we can change things. These people are entrenched but not  untouchable. They will certainly be within reach of the peoples justice.

Let's Roll out the truth

I don't believe 93 was hijacked. It was shot down. I don't believe terrorists were on the plane. They were victims shot down to add faces to the plan in robbing the 30 billion stored in vaults in the WTC complex.

No bodies were found at the crash site, and no blood. The crater was smaller than the size of impact a plane would cause. On the other hand if shot out of the sky, difficult to find pieces and debris.
