Stop the next war before it happens

Everyone wake up!! The out of control Bush administration rattles his saber toward Iran and the compliant news media outlets tell the half truths or outright lies that this administration wants them to parrot.

Congress does not have a plan or the will to stand down Mr. Bush and company.  Congress just stands their and complains we can’t stop a filibuster, we don’t have enough votes to stop the war in  Iraq.  Democrats need to be the filibuster, so stop trying to score the points to win the next election, and don’t let this rush to war with Iran go unimpeded.  At this point, congress will not stop the occupation of Iraq until 2008.

So at this point the antiwar movement needs to stop a war with Iran.  Bush’s failed policy in Iraq will keep failing therefore when the democrats take control they will be able to end the madness in Iraq.  We must prevent a war with Iran.

The American people are easily manipulated via the media, and government propaganda, spokesman for the U. S military in Iraq Rear Admiral Mark Fox says they have captured Mahmudi Farhadi, and other Iranians involved in smuggling arms into Iraq.  Kurdish President Jalal Talabani, a staunch pro-American, condemned the detention of Farhadi by U.S. military forces, noting that the Iranian was a well-known businessman who was in Iraq as part of an official trade delegation.  In protest to Farhadi’s detention Iran has threatened to close down cross-border trade in Kurdistan which would not endear the Kurds the only group in Iraq who supports the U.S.

Now Bush makes unsubstantiated claims that the Quds Force, is behind the IED’s used to kill American troops.  I might remind everyone that this is the same guy who got away with building the case for war in Iraq with WMD’s. The  U.S. military itself has subsequently contradicted its own briefings, noting in July 2007 that no persons had been captured by the United States that can provide a direct link between insurgents in Iraq and Iran. Again, in August of 2007, the U.S. military stated that it had yet to catch anyone smuggling weapons into Iraq from Iran

What we don’t hear from the administration is that the Mujahedin el-Khalk MEK for short operating from bases in Iraq and Jundallah, a Baluchi separatist group operating out of Pakistan that the CIA openly acknowledges supporting is operating inside Iran as a U.S. proxy force against the current Iranian regime.

Instead of rushing to war with Iran we should remember that Iran was one of the first Muslim nations to openly condemn the World Trade Center attacks.  They called for a worldwide mobilization against terrorism.

When Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wanted to present a wreath of condolence he was soundly rejected and Senator McCain stated that allowing Ahmadinejad to visit the site “would be an affront not only to America but to the families of our loved ones who perished there in an unprecedented act of terror.”  Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, Dan Gillerman, told the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organization that a visit by President Ahmadinejad to Ground Zero would be "similar to a visit by a resurrected Hitler to Auschwitz."  These remarks parroted by the fake media are intended to link the Iranians to 9/11 of which they had nothing to do with and openly condemned.

Every time a war mongering neo-convict starts to stutter he says 9/11. Bush calls Iran a “state sponsor of terror.” Then co-conspirators, the Hannity’s the O’Reilly’s etc, etc link Iraq, Iran or the pope to 9/11.  We Americans are bombarded with these false connections to 9/11 then conclude Iraq and Iran were part of the 9/11 plot. The logic is so simple, so flawed and yet so dangerously accessible to the minds of an American people fundamentally ignorant of the true situation in Iran and the Middle East todayCheney they were a reliable source for intelligence in the lead up to the Iraq war.  Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei and his team of inspectors from the IAEA. and his experts have finally assembled enough data to enable them to close the books on the Iranian nuclear program that contrary to the speculative assessments put forward by the Bush administration it appears that Iran's nuclear program is, in fact, dedicated to permitted energy-related activities.

I really thought that congress and the American people had more sense than to start the war in Iraq when we didn’t finish the job in Afghanistan.  Now with that still not finished and expanding, Bush

Cheney are calling for war with Iran.  Bush / Cheney are trying to emphasize Iran as a terror state, and they now place the blame for the continuing problems in Iraq on Iran not their miserably failed policies.

We must repeal the war powers authorities currently on the books, forcing the president to seek new congressional approval for a new war.  We must also counter the disinformation being coming from the White House and the Fake News Networks.  It is not the time for the name calling like the na na na Petraeus / Betray us ads.  We must focus on generating congressional hearings and public debate from the colleges and universities to the local media outlets.

To the right wing, if a war with Iran breaks out you can bet your life and the life of your children that this war will bring some discomfort to this country. Not just to an all volunteer army.  Hell Mitt Romney’s boys might just have to get involved in more patriotic endeavors than working for their daddy’s election campaign.

Just remember what was said in the lead up to the war in Iraq and these are the guys planning this next disaster.

Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on the strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The statesman who yields to war fever must realize that once the signal is given, he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of unforeseeable and uncontrollable events.

Sir Winston Churchill (1874 - 1965)

Peace through intelligence, strength, and integrity./
