Chertoff: Screw the Environment, We Need to Keep the Mexicans Out

If you've been paying attention lately, you know that there is a project under way to construct a "security" fence along the U.S. border with Mexico. (Excuse me, but how many Mexicans were on those planes on 9/11? Oh, yeah, none. But that doesn't matter. Brown skin is brown skin, to some people, I suppose.)

Anyway, construction of the portion of the fence that sits along the Mexico-Arizona border was put on hold on October 10 because it would run through the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area. A federal district judge ruled that the federal government did not fully study the environmental impact of the fence.

But Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff doesn't care about the fact that the fence could upset the area's ecology and even violate some environmental laws.

On Monday, Chertoff invoked his power to waive those pesky laws and restart construction of that fence.

This is disappointing, and even alarming, but it shouldn't come as a surprise. The Bushies have never met a law that they couldn't sidestep via some claim of executive privilege or national security.

To them, the laws are for us little people.

And it's for our own good. They must save us from the Mexicans who threaten our freedoms and our way of life.

Please give me a freaking break.

Mexicans and the environment.

The federal judge who wanted to block construction of the border fence along that section was probably doing so not because of environmental concerns but out of conservative business principle of obtaining cheap labor.

George Bush is actually an open borders activist he joined the Democrats last summer in trying to push through comprehensive immigration reform and tried to force through a program allowing Mexican trucks full access to the U.S.

The ecology of the border area is actually being trashed by the millions of illegals who dump their trash and carve out erosion causing roads when they enter our country illegally.

Mary your blond hair means you might be a racist.

Disregard for the ecology?

Chertoff's disregard for the ecology just shows his ample ignorance on so many subjects, along with his penchant for trampling whatever does not give pleasure to his need to feed his own sick sense to grab hold of power-and-control ...

Keeping the Mexicans out is really about a wall of hot air ... a bunch of hooey through which Chertoff inflates his own sense of power and importance.

I wonder if he remembers a time when the bushes liked to entertain their guests, heads of state and others, with the music of many a mariachi band.

Mary,

Do you have any concerns for who and what continues to flow unabated across our southern border?  The so-called 'hijackers with brown skin' entered our country legally... imagine who doesn't want the powers that be to know they are here and what they brought with them or paid smugglers to get across our border!  If I wanted in the USA without a hassle, I certainly wouldn't come through Canada -I'd take my money south of the US border and look up some locals to get the job done.

Are you so out of touch that you're buying into the playing of the 'race' card, or are you helping deal those cards?

Give ME a freakin' break!
