Pelosi and Reid Need to Step Down

by Marti Oakley     Page 1 of 1 page(s)

I don't know which of these two I have come to despise more; Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi. For me, these two are no different than any other neo-con and I have no use for any one of them and none for what now masquerades as the Democrat faction of our government.

Senate Leader Harry Reid is preparing to schedule a couple of weeks of immigration reform hearings, again trying to establish amnesty for illegal immigrants. The hook on this new intended reform is border reinforcement (bull!) and implementing tight employee verification requirements for employers unless of course they are big corporations that finance both the Democrats and Republicans.....meaning there will be no tightening and no border reinforcement.

Maybe Senator Reid didn't get the message last year when American's rebelled en-mass against several attempts to pass amnesty to people that broke our laws, and who drained the federal treasury (our tax dollars at work) of more than $240 billion as several states faced massive deficits from the overload on social benefits including education and healthcare. This while these same people sent $45 billion back to Mexico alone in "remittances".

Speaker Pelosi it is claimed is coming out with her version of the new amnesty plan early this summer. Apparently Pelosi and Reid both have a hearing or comprehension problem, if not both. It is obvious neither understands that the majority of legal American citizens will not support amnesty in any form regardless of how they package it. No doubt, amnesty will be attached to some non-related emergency bill and rammed down our throats.

Reid and Pelosi need to go. Along with them the Attorney General, one in a long line of AG's that has refused to perform his duty as require in the US Code.

Title 8 U.S.C. 1103 (a)(5) states: "The Attorney General shall have the power and the duty to control and guard the boundaries and borders of States against the illegal entry of aliens."

This one section alone should be enough to have Mukasey removed from office for dereliction of duty. And by the way.....where's that fence? If not the fence, at least call the Canadian Military down here to patrol that border for us. After all, Reid and Pelosi along with everyone else in our representative congress never said a word about this anti-American agreement called the Civil Assistance Plan that allows foreign military's to be used on our soil..... against us. The least they could do is have them secure that border and stop the flow of mass illegal immigration before they turn them on us.

Contrary to what we hear daily, our immigration system is NOT broken......it simply isn't enforced. We have a very liberal immigration policy, admitting an estimated 2 million new immigrants each year. This in addition to all the work, education and shopping visas. Yes, Virginia! You can get a shopping visa to enter the US from Mexico. Go figure! And here I thought these people were so poor! How could they come here to shop if they are? With what?

I also find it hard to believe that these illegal entrants into our country cannot make a decent living in Mexico, where wages are less, but so is the cost of living. Yet they can somehow raise $1500 (American) or more per person to get smuggled into the country. Where did that money come from if they are so destitute?

I also realize that it sounds much nicer to call these people "undocumented workers" rather than illegal immigrants. They are illegal immigrants who are working illegally in this country; employed by unscrupulous employers and sanctioned by our own government that in turn refuses to enforce our laws. And leading this assault against the will of the American public is Pelosi and Reid who insist on trying yet again to push another amnesty bill through while more jobs are lost here, while 2 million will lose their homes to foreclosure, and many become homeless as a result.

The Pew Hispanic Center estimated in 2006 that there were about 20 million illegal immigrants in this country, and, that of those 20 million, 7 million were employed and only 12% of that 7 million were working in agriculture. The immediate question arises: How were the other 13 million surviving?

I find it either amazing or equally appalling that this congress like those before it can seem to do nothing that isn't harmful to American's at large. Laws are passed regularly that strip us of our rights, put us under unnecessary surveillance and invade every aspect of our lives. Our Constitution has been totally trashed while we are threatened daily with "terrorists" and too many of us now live in fear of our own militarized government.

Based on all the laws that have infringed on our rights, all the laws that are now in progress to be passed, it would appear that you and I no longer have the right to dissent, to be left alone by the government, to attend rally's, to try and affect any social, religious or political change (now called acts of domestic terrorism) or to be represented in our government. We could be jailed, held indefinitely without charges, never charged, unable to mount a defense, unable to know what we are charged with and can even be stripped of our citizenship. All of this on being deemed a "domestic terrorist" by virtue of having exercised your constitutional rights.

But! If you jump the border, enter the country illegally, steal someone else's identity, social security number or even credit card numbers.......work illegally, illegally access social benefits, and demand to be taken care of and claim you have some kind of rights to all of this....we'll give you amnesty! We won't even charge you for breaking our laws! For some reason you won't be deemed a domestic terrorist and you most likely will never see the inside of a jail much less any charges against you. Heck! Even if we catch you we'll just tell you to show up at a later date in court (which you won't) and then forget all about you. It would seem that being an illegal immigrant into this country will allow you far more latitude and legal rights than being a legal citizen.

In the end, if Pelosi and Reid think the majority of us out here are going to sit still for yet another attempt at passing the same old amnesty BS, they need to think again. We are more determined than ever to see that it doesn't.

I agree whole heartedly on this subject. When politicians make promises such as stopping the war and closing the borders for the purpose of getting elected and then do not fulfill those promises, they should resign or be forced out of office.

I have said the same about the presidential candidates promising jobs to the unemployed in the rust belt...no jobs...no job; out you go.

Message for Reid and Pelosi

 To Reid and pelosi.

From the last 2 panels:   "Take stem cell research,  Do you even know why we Republicans oppose that?"      "If stem cell were legal, all you Democrats would be trying to grow little spines in lab dishes."

Sounds reasonable these days, doesn't it?
