State of the Union or Presidential Graffiti?

I cannot say I ever waited for President Bush to give his State of the Union address to know where the country stood. Still, I suffer through it every year and dutifully waited for it this year and tried my best to listen.

I rarely ever go to sleep before midnight, listening to Bush, I was asleep within five minutes; that would make it around 9:15 pm. My slumber was not that deep; his speech was this white noise in the background but every once in a while, I would wake up frazzled to the word “veto” and applause.

For those who were counting, my nap must seem like a nightmare. That was not the end of it though; I woke up again to a woman’s voice and thought it was Pelosi. She did sound composed and did make sense, but, a la Pelosi, there was this total lack of sincerity. Later I found out that she was some governor and not at all Pelosi; why does the Democratic leadership all sound the same?

Well, I survived last night, woke up at two in the morning not knowing what to do. Should I even bother writing this?

On the one hand, we have a president who has lost all credibility, a lame goose since the day he was re-elected, a leader who could only govern through ruses and manipulations that no longer work, and finally resorting to his newly discovered power of the veto. He seemed amused with this new discovery and at every junction in his speech he would let it loose; not that different from a gang member marking his territory or a dog’s encounter with a fire hydrant

On the other hand, we have the skid-marked Democrats, biding their time, trying not to stir too much dust, hoping the mad man would just live out his last days while the country can still be called a country. They seem to think that doing nothing grants them the right to govern.

They are waiting their turn in 2008, not planning to take us in a different direction, it will be the same course; the scenery might just be a bit more pleasant!

They really don’t disagree with Bush on the objectives; otherwise they would have done something about it by now. They only disagree with his methods.

To sum up the last seven years and what to expect in the future: Bush is fucking with the world and the American people while the Democrats will only screw with them. Either way, rape is rape, and someone should remind both parties; does not make a bit of difference if one uses KY and the other does not.
