Hallelujah!! Hallelujah!! Hallelujah!! Hallelujah!! What a wonderful day to rejoice.
Finally, after a lifetime of preaching for his Maker, speaking for his Maker, dictating for his Maker, berating for his Maker, organizing for his Maker, legislating for his Maker, and broadcasting for his Maker, Reverend Jerry Falwell is finally meeting his Maker!!
Reverend Jerry Falwell is finally going home!
And if there is true honor amongst his followers. Amongst 'the anointed' who ascribe to his beliefs, the tears they shed should be tears of joy.
For as rapture-based-fanatical-right-wing Christians believe, the only true joy comes in the eternal presence of one's Maker. And luckily, happily, gratefully, Reverend Falwell HAS ARRIVED!!
May those pearly gates open widely to admit the self-righteous son, who now and for always, is where he sought to be.
I for one, bid an eager farewell to Reverend Jerry Falwell on his desired journey home. Today is the last day of the rest of his life.
BUH BYE! BUH BYE!!

Wow, when I heard he died I was trying so hard not to cheer..and at least not exhibit too much glee, but now........what the hell! Hopefully this piece of faux humanity will be followed by the rest of the PNAC bunch, and the other pieces of vile shit that has torn this country apart. May they rest in pieces!
Hallelujah back at ya!!!!!!!!!!! and throw in a WHOOHOOOOOO !!!

Surely yee jest?! Pearly Gates for one of the most devious, conniving, greedy SOBs to ever walk on this earth?
I am hoping that this is the first of several multi-pronged bolts of lightning aimed at the miserable scam artists who have conned and robbed so many of the niave and trusting fools in this & other countries.
Falwell has preached his own brand of hatred & bile for far too many years.
Good riddance. Now bring on the bolts of lightning for James Dobson, George Bush, & other fundamentalists nut cases & those who use them for personal gain. These lowly scumbags deserve the hottest corner of hell if it exists.

To the false prophet, theif, liar, fear and hate monger. What a legacy! If there is a Hell, let's hope there's special place there reserved for the likes of him.

Take Heart. Jerry Falwell is an example par excellence that NO ONE KNOWS THE APPOINTED HOUR. Falwell's Hour Came when he least expected it. It was not the kind of rapture thathe envisioned. You know, the, "Alltogether now after the nuclear bomb lets go up: One-Two-Three to heaven we will go!" It was, rather, a very personal appointed time when he and his vice-chancellor and now voice carrier least expected it--and it should teach you all, Rapture Believers, and war monger lovers Something. I hope you are in the spirit of learning something.
Wow! what a wake-up call!

Linda, as queazy as celebrating a person's death makes me feel, I think it may all come up short. Would God admit a racist bigot & a predatory hate monger who conned deluded believers out of cash they didn't have into any place sacred? Would God embrace a man who degraded & betrayed the teachings of Jesus, Mohammed & every other spiritual leader you would care to mention? Would God celebrate a warmonger? God might give such a character a place next to the throne, but I doubt it would be the one up front. More likely it would be the one out back.
Hang in there. Dick Overfield

...your celebration of the death of the turd Scary Jerry might piss off some more easily offended people like Rob's article did yesterday. Oh yes, as horrific as the thought may be, there were some people who were (gag) almost getting ready to eulogize the asshole in glowing terms. I haven't gone back to that article (yet) to see if the orgy of pity for the charlatan fuck head abated or became worse after I posted my hip hip hurrah for his death.
As far as I am concerned, the scumbag Falwell has worked for each drop of derision that has been dumped upon his worthless carcass. He is the one who saw gays at every turn; in Tinky Winky, in SpongeBob Squarepants, in anyone who set off his gaydar...and here I thought only gay people had gaydar. This either proves that he was gay (what a horrid thought), or that he knew someone who was, and used their less-than-perfect gaydar. In either case, he's the worst kind of hypocrite; on that either hates himself, or hates those closest to them.
But if that were all that he had done to seal his fate with those like myself who are completely over the Religious Reich and their lame brained minions, it would be bad enough. Need I remind those twits who are coddling his worthless soul and "legacy" that he, just hours after the attack on 9/11, was blaming it on gays, feminists, leftists, and anyone other than the persons who deserved the blame. If he could be that heartless after the deaths of thousands of innocent Americans, why should we who despise the fact that his sorry ass ever drew breath show him one Iota of concern, or respect?
Why? What has he done to earn our respect? If even Billy Graham would rebuke him, why should we who are "lesser" humans offer up praises for his shitty deeds? The world will be a much better place without him!
Blessed be! Pappy

While I was against most of what Rev.Falwell stood for, never would I celebrate in the manner you do over his passing. It makes you look small. You seem to have the same mean-spirit that many on the right have. Why not let it be? Nothing good comes out of celebrating someone dying.

Falwell and his lot base their living on their desire to be with their god. That is their bliss and dream for eternity. Therefore, in line with what Falwell preached, his departure warrants celebration.
As I stated in my short piece, if Falwell's followers aren't celebrating his passing to be with his Lord, that underscores the depth of their hypocrisy.

Please, what a bunch of garbage, Linda. You are celebrating his passing in the negative sense, which is unnecessary. Why not use your skills in a more positive and dignified fashion?

Don't let 'em spoil your fun. This is a man who blamed 911 on the American people! He's a false prophet, a liar, a thief, and a fear and hate monger, and he was feeding off those things to enrich himself off poor ingorant people. The world's a better place with him not in it. I'm doing cartwheels right now just thinking about it.

How about believeing what she said. She has no reason to lie to anyone. If that is what she meant then what more can you do? And what can you say decent about a man who spill his hate onto the world in such a manner that most christians dont know whether they are coming or going. This man deserves to be trash he has destoryed the lives of gays and lesbians, woman, the poor and has done nothing but lie and cheat and indoctrinate his political views and wrapped it in the bible. I wish more of them would go or be raptured to their place in heaven or hell. It doesnt matter to me they havent done anything positive themselves.

I always thought that being a progressive was about advancing our cause and making our country better. How does dancing on Rev. Falwell's grave do that?

Falwell the Magician has disappeared--Poof! He seemed to mix the oil of religion with the water of politics, and called it the Elixer of Life. Time will show it was all smoke and mirrors.
In the process, he hurt a lot of people. He hurt Christians more liberal than he, and he hurt non-Christians who were as conservative as he. He did great harm to Gays, Women's Rights, secular government and moderates of all stripes. He built an empire and cash register on the broken backs of others. I will not miss him.
When the tents are folded, and the circus finally leaves town, he will be remembered, if at all, not as a wizard, but as a clown.

Good point, as a matter of fact, call it excellent.
As I stated in my short piece, if Falwell's followers aren't celebrating his passing to be with his Lord, that underscores the depth of their hypocrisy.
An even better point! Let me run with that one for a few minutes if you will.
Who here remembers the name "Oral Roberts"? For those who might not be old enough to remember that name, he was one of Scary Jerry Falwell's "contemporaries". In 1987, during a fund raising drive, Oral Roberts announced to a television audience that unless he raised $6 million by that March, God would "call him home". For those not in the know with christian jargon, that means he was going to die. Not only did he get his six million, he got more. I never understood that one. Being "called home" was, I thought, something they wanted to happen; the sooner the better.
But no, there he was, crying like Jimmy Swaggart telling the world he felt bad because he had "sinned" against god...with a whore (about a year later, ironically). To me, these episodes proved beyond a shadow of doubt the following: 1) Hypocrisy, thy name is "clergy"! 2) TV god junkies (read the sheep of the Religious Reich) are the most gullible people who draw breath. 3) The people who sent money to Roberts (and others) have no idea about the true words of the Rabbi Christ. They are glued to the TV; far too absorbed by the great glass tit to ever read a bible, much less attempt to process it in context, instead of literally. 4) Anyone who allows their mentality to be usurped by a televangelist is as guilty as the false prophet on the CRT.
So yes, not unlike you, I am both amazed and amused by the people here who are condemning those of us who celebrate his death. I guess in my case, they are upset with me because I am glad I no longer have to hear him on this planet. But I am sure there are other who celebrate his death because he is now next to his "maker".
His death is a good thing! Now, if Dante was right, Falwell is most certainly hanging out with Jim Baaker and all the other hypocrites in the lowest level of hell. This is also a good thing! A really really REALLYgood thing!
Great article and comments!
