Today's news addresses one of the two questions I still have and want looked at more closely, that of Mario Scaramella's involvement, if any, with the 3+ hit squad, and the obvious "stash" question regarding both the polonium and the "client list"

The big development today is that Mario Scaramella tested positive for "significant" quantities:

"Mr Scaramella, who has denied any involvement in the poisoning, said earlier this week that doctors had given him the all-clear. "I'm not sick, that's for sure," he told the BBC. But sources close to the case today said that a "significant" amount of polonium-210 was found in Mr Scaramella's body." (source).

That means that he received a dosage that is very strong, but it also raises really interesting questions about the timing the Brits have put forth. On the day that Alex took ill, 11/1/06, he had lunch with Mario. He became ill later in the day, causing people to suspect that lunch was where the polonium was ingested. But if Mario is not showing any symptoms yet, then something obviously does not add up. Either Alex was poisoned weeks in advance of the 11/01 date or he was given something "extra" that sped up his demise.

Something else is wrong here, very wrong, with regard to another recent development, that of Alex's wife suddenly testing positive. She too should have by now been showing symptoms, but she has not.

I think it is at this point we need to really understand the mechanism of delivery:

Putin wanted Boris so badly, that he had made this issue a sticking point with Putin, he wanted Alex as well, also quite badly. Remember, we know the motive (at least I feel strongly that we do). If you could take out two birds with one stone, in fact a few birds with one stone if you count the latest victim of poison, read here, then what would be the easiest way, the least obvious way, the most potent and certain way?

Now many people have argued that because this is so obvious, it could not have been Putin or FSB without Putin. But people fail over and over to grasp what I have already reported and believe given the people with whom I had talked: this was not meant to be traced, they thought they could get away with it. So, if you had something that you thought no one would be able to trace and you wanted to take out three very visible targets, would you not do it? Ah, exactly, FSB would do it, but they must have miscalculated on the dosages.

Now, the issue of the contamination trail all over London and on the British airliners has kept me very confused, simply because it does not add up. Or does it? AJ Strata does a good job summarizing the issues of the contamination sites, but I must respectfully disagree with his theory because it is based on a very important flaw, the one I just pointed out above: Putin would never use a method so obvious and/or FSB would not use a method so obvious. That said, he does an excellent job summarizing all of the various issues in this story.

My theory on the mechanism:

I have said before that I believe that the Polonium was not directly ingested by Alex, but was rather in something belonging to him or something that he used was laced with the polonium. But remember, you want to use one weapon against several people, and you don't want to use too much as it may be identified. What kind of delivery mechanism could both be undetected, potent, transmittable, and have the ability to cause so much confusion in terms of the evidence trail?

If Mario is not involved, but contaminated, what did he share with Alex and when? The same question applies to Alex's wife. What was it, a cup? No, because Mario did not go home to visit Alex's family.

How about this:

A cigarette. In fact, a cigarette would be an extremely powerful way to distribute the polonium via air, causing another to inhale it. But since the only people that would inhale for any real duration would be people in close proximity to the victim, it is certain to do the trick as smoking at most places is not allowed and also because in small vapor qualities it would not be necessarily lethal, so not too much of a danger to the British public, although somewhat of a danger if things went badly.

Let us then assume the polonium was brought into England by several agents, all bringing in cigarettes cartons. That would explain why an overhead was contaminated as well as a seat on a particular flight.

Imagine Alex going about his day, smoking. Meeting Mario for lunch, who only inhaled some of the poison. This would also account for some of the radiation sites that do not have a bodily fluid deposit, like urine for example. Most importantly, It would also account for the delayed reaction in Mario and also Alex's wife, because if they are non-smokers, they would not have directly ingested the Polonium, rather, they would have inhaled it. Alex, however, would have directly ingested it, both via his mouth and via inhalation, speeding up his death. The more he smoked, the worse it got, which might account for why there are places that are more contaminated than others and also out of order of his movements.
