Hillary Clinton lied about getting off a plane in Bosnia in 1996 and having to duck under sniper fire?
I'm shocked; shocked to find Hillary lied! Oh, sorry, "mis-spoke!"
What's the difference between Hillary and Bill? Nothing; except Bill did it with a lot more charm!
I started out this process being quite "pro Hillary" and thinking that she'd make a great president (and that it was about time this country had a woman president). I've followed and studied politics for many years, both here and in Europe, but I cannot really remember a more egregious lie by a politician, running for office. Here's a woman who says one day that she "remembers clearly" getting off a plane in Bosnia in 1996 and having to duck to avoid incoming sniper fire as she got off the plane, and when, as undoubtedly would inevitably happen, she's shown to be a complete liar, and is walking off the plane with her daughter Chelsea, on the day in question, the next day she says she "mis-spoke!"
I am simply in awe of such chutzpah!
An incident where one claims to remember clearly that one got off a plane with one's own daughter, and came under sniper fire, is an incident that, if true, would sear itself into one's memory, like where you were on 9/11, or where you were when Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas! A frightening and personally memorable traumatic event indeed. To say nothing of the fact that we would all have heard about it at the time (and long afterwards, too!) Then, when it is revealed that nothing of the sort actually happened, she says she "mis-spoke!" Well, the inevitable conclusion here is, either she suffers from mental delusions where she is convinced something actually happened that didn't, like a person who is suffering from early dementia (the charitable explanation, like Ronald Reagan's claim to have fought in World War II, instead of just acting in films about it), or, she is an outright liar (and stupid to boot, because to lie about something that can easily and readily be disproved, is just that - plain stupid!), which seems to be the actual case here.
For many years I have vehemently argued against those who called Hillary and Bill deceptive, conniving, lying, duplicitous and completely power hungry, who would stop at nothing to win. Now I owe those who have continually opined that Hillary may even be "worse" than Bill in the deceptive, conniving, lying, duplicitous and completely power hungry departments, a sincere apology.
I had a certain sympathy with Bill, wagging his finger, and saying "I never had sex with that woman..." That's what men do when they get caught with their pants down around their ankles! But I have absolutely no sympathy with any candidate who outright lies about a dangerous situation that NEVER actually happened! And the snide innuendos of the two of them against Obama, ("Jessie Jackson also won South Carolina"; "If John McCain and Hillary were to be running against each other, it would be great, because you'd have two patriotic people who really love this country" [unlike that Obama chap!], "Both John McCain and I are fit to be Commander in Chief," [unlike that Obama chap!] etc,) combined with this latest example of a completely egregious lie, sadly lead me to the conclusion that it should be a cold day in Hell before this woman should ever become president!

On the field of bullshit
GW “Bill” Riedel, AlumnusTuesday, 30 October 2007
From The Gateway - U. of Alberta campus student paper
Following an all-candidates’ meeting during the recent Ontario provincial election I had the privilege to briefly discuss with some journalism students the fact that “bullshit” has now become a respectable academic field of study.
If one uses google scholar with the search string “on bullshit” one is rewarded 5,590 hits (this is almost double in March 2008) of what should be mainly the academic, scholarly, peer reviewed literature on the subject.
While the revival of studies on bullshit is generally credited to the phenomenal success of Princeton University emeritus philosophy professor Harry Frankfurt’s 2005 book simply entitled “On Bullshit”, this author is of the opinion that Neil Postman’s paper delivered at the National Convention for the Teachers of English on November 28, 1969 in Washington, D.C. entitled “Bullshit and the Art of Crap-Detection” should be the first reference any student should read. Postman made the following point: “As I see it, the best things schools can do for kids is to help them learn how to distinguish useful talk from bullshit.”
A little later he continues: “every day in almost every way people are exposed to more bullshit than it is healthy for them to endure”. It was left to Frankfurt to proclaim that “one of the most salient features of our culture is that there is so much bullshit”; however, the purpose of this short submission is to draw to the attention of students that the rapidly expanding academic literature on bullshit has something of interest to most students. Let me close by simply providing three examples:
1. Students of journalism and political science should be interested in – Brandenburg, Heinz, Short of Lying – The prevalence of bullshit in political communication, presented at the Annual Conference of the Political Studies Association, Reading, 4-6 April, 2006.
2. Accounting, business and science students might enjoy Queen’s University Norman B. Macintosh’s Accounting – Truth, Lies, or bullshit. A Philosophical Investigation.
3. For anyone wanting to go deeper into bullshit the book by Gary L. Hardcastle and George A. Reisch, 2006, Bullshit and Philosophy – guaranteed to get perfect results every time, Open Court, Chicago is a must library addition.
While the entire book is worth reading, although some chapters are heavy slugging, the following chapters are highly recommended:
Chapter 6 by University of British Columbia Professor Alan Richardson – Performing Bullshit and the Post-Sincere Condition, should be read by every student thinking of post graduate studies.
Chapter 14 by Heather Douglas – Bullshit at the Interface of Science and Policy: Global Warming, Toxic Substances, and Other Pesky Problems, page 215, is must reading for policy wonks, politicians, bureaucrats and obviously scientists.
Canadians have made excellent contributions to the literature on bullshit as can be seen by visiting http://bullshitcitynorth.blogspot.com. Perhaps University of Manitoba professor John S. McCallum said it best in his 2005 Viewpoint – On Bullshit is not bullshit, Ivey Business Journal, Sept/Oct, page 1-3.

I'm waiting for the media to discuss Hillary's determination to push NAFTA through, as proven by papers recently released concerning her scheduling while in the White House. Also, her connection with "The Family" religious cult! And how about the repeating of the Bosnia lie, not just once - but FOUR times. How sleep deprived can you be??? Imagine taking credit for the health care given to the children of California, when she wasn't the one who put it through! What really gets me, is that she agreed with the decision to exclude Florida and Michigan from being allowed to seat delegates, back when she assumed she was a shoo-in when Super Tuesday came around. Now that she has been shown to be a poor candidate, she is handily forgetting her signing off on Florida and Michigan, and blaming (as usual) Senator Obama. She certainly is a prolific liar, and a poor representative for the women of America.
