Agoraphobia on the Rise in Iraq

In a letter from an "Old Iraqi Lady" to President Bush published two days ago in an Iraqi newspaper http://www.watchingamerica.com/kitabat000001.shtml the Iraqi grandmother partially hiding her terrified weathered face behind her black Burka like a mother mourning the loss of her 650,000 children said to President Bush, "As the days pass, I have begun to feel that your words are in stark contrast to the desperate situation we are living through. You speak out and say that Iraq is headed toward democracy and stability, but in reality we sit at home terrified to even cross the street. You say that Iraq will prosper in democracy and justice while in reality no one can voice his opinion without being subject to harm or even death."

The unnamed Iraqi woman said, "We sit at home terrified to even cross the street." President Bush and the American media have played Pollyanna with the American public and shown the American people the Iraq war through rose colored glasses. Reporters in America are forbidden by the government from showing the flag draped caskets of the men and women returning from what Kofi Annan called an illegal war let alone do interviews from the battlefield or Walter Reed Army Medical Center with the thousands of young American men and women trying to recover from having their arms and legs blown off.

There is no electricity in Baghdad or running water or toilet facilities. The people defecate into pails and then throw the feces out the window. When the surging troops begin going door to door between the houses in Iraq they will be wading through three feet of feces. If only our televisions had the ability to deliver to us the vile stench of the blood strewn crying and writhing in agony American and Iraqi boys and girls then perhaps President Bush and Vice President Cheney would finally be led off by competent psychiatrists in straight jackets to the institutions for the criminally insane to be treated for their delusions of the new and improved wonderful Iraq.

The American politicians and mainstream media strain at gnats but swallow camels whole.

The Deadly Irony

Here's the funny part.

We've contaminated the Iraq environment with enough depleted uranium to make it uninhabitable for any form of life forever. At current pace a scorpion won't survive. So, please tell us who's going to go work to extract the oil when it would be a death sentence to anyone that breaths the air, uses the water or eats the food?

It gets even funnier.

Everyone deployed has been exposed and carried the contamination home to their wives, children or anyone they exchange fluids with. Cancer rates and birth defects are souring. In Iraq, the parents no longer ask if the baby is a boy or girl - they ask if it's "normal".

Now it gets really hilarious.

bush wants to have more troops exposed.
