For OpEdNews: John Perry - Writer

Thought I would share some of the email reaction (including my responses) I received to "Dubya's Grand Hypocrisy". Names have been removed to respect the privacy of everybody, and to protect the ignorant from painful ridicule.

Read the original piece here.

***************
One of the great promises that stem cell research holds is that of repairing damaged spinal cords, like those GWB has created for those lucky enough to live through a roadside bomb in Iraq. I guess GB is saying that when he puts someone in a wheelchair, he expects them to stay there. What a joke.

***************
Your commentary is more diatribe and rhetoric than it is educated discussion, and I can only hope that your intent is more to garner laughs than to sway public opinion or foster thoughtful dialogue.

But you're getting paid for what you do in some fashion or another, and I guess that's all that matters.

Thanks for writing.

Certainly you understand that Op-Ed pieces are not discussion. They are opinion, which everyone is entitled to. If they foster educated discussion, I'm all for it.

You may disagree with my opinion and dislike the way I write, which is fine, but the article is also packed with truth. You can denounce me to your heart's content, but you cannot change the ugly criminal reality that is the George W. Bush administration, and that's not just your problem. It's everybody's problem.

The difference between us, apparently (and please feel free to correct me if this is not the case), is that I'm trying to help bring about the positive change our country so desperately needs, while you are seemingly content with the very dangerous status quo of the most corrupt executive branch in the history of our country.

Finally, to set the record straight, I do not get paid for writing. I have a totally unrelated job that pays my bills. I write because I like to. It's also my way of trying to make a meaningful contribution to our national discourse.

Thanks again for writing.
***************
You really hate Bush, don't you? I could feel your hatred just ready your editorial. Feel sorry for you.

Thanks for writing.

First of all, and you might be surprised, but I don't hate Bush. I actually have tremendous pity for him and everyone else in his administration whose inherent weakness has allowed them to be entirely consumed by an ugly lust for power, money and control.

Am I angry? You bet. And as a concerned American, quite rightfully so, because these people are feeding their ugly lust with the blood of American soldiers and innocent Iraqis, and systematically shredding our Constitution at the same time. Their behavior is not just reprehensible. It's criminal, and they all need to be held accountable.

Secondly, the knee-jerk "you hate Bush" responses to criticism of our illegitimate president are getting pretty old. If you can legitimately refute what's being said, please feel free to do so. If you can't, you're just wasting your energy.

"Dubya's Grand Hypocrisy"

John Perry: I am so shocked at the those people who tend to have faith in GWB's domestic and foreign policy--or the man's reading of world issues related to specific religious faith. He lies to the American people, not only with a straight face, but with passion and conviction. Regarding stem cell research--as far as I understand, the research performed on embryonic stem cells is done on cells that are to be thrown out. Embryos are not "harvested" for research. Furthermore, science is NOT value ladden. Science is simply science. It has no value outside of the inculcation of value of "right" and "wrong" by humans. The Bush team at every turn attempts to pit once segment of our society against another while he adheres to the narrow orientation of life and society of the "religious right." These religiously constricted views not only dictate domestic policy of this administration, but it is the tragedy inherent in the White House's foreign policy. It is a dangerous philosophy that is restricting freedom and democracy here at home while it underpins views, policies and actions that result in the maiming and killing countless scores of people throughout the world. The current situation in the Middle-East and other places throughout the world (i.e., Israel, Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, Palestine, North Korea, China, Russia, etc., etc.). The danger of the Bush presidency will be felt for many years to come. And, unfortunately, he has two more years to effect more havoc on the world. Please, America, WAKE UP before it is to late. I have an advice

Next time if someone says that you hate the Prez, confirm it. The best way to confront a psychotic is to make sure his worries are justified. And stop thanking them.

That's why I thanked them for writing. They never expect it! Love to leave 'em scratching their heads...

Explicative-laced diatribes are a sign of true ignorance!

John, the shear fact that the "My God & My Country"-only crowd can only muster a few profanities and dive into the instant bully stance of name-calling, like sissy and "fag" only strengthens your position and the goal of OpEdNews. In other words, you are doing a fine job and should be commended for getting involved and trying to bring informed insight when so much misinformation is coming from the MSM. As I like to say, "If being liberal means critical thinking and informed dissent, instead of blind obedience and ignorant nationalism, then I am all for it!" Keep up the great writing and know that all us "intellectual types" are the real patriots and champions of democracy; the rest are blind loyalists and sycophants too afraid to embrace the truth about Bush and the state of our nation. They would rather hurl empty insults at men who, unlike themselves, are willing to stand up, speak out and campaign for real change, diplomacy and true justice! Great artical!

Where do these idiots come from? I simply go numb when there are people out there who still believe there was a connection between 9/11 and Iraq. That there where WMD. That the US forces in Iraq are currently seen as liberators. That Bush/Cheney cares about you. Can't they see that the Bush/Cheney administation feeds off there fears and ignorance.
