With BushCheney’s approval rating in the teens, it would be informative to take a poll asking how many Americans would back Impeachment. It might be a majority, perhaps, but not enough to get Congress to act. There are other reasons. All are reasonable. Taken together, they provide enough reasonable doubt to make inaction the course of action. That 19% who support Bush..... There's no secret about who they are. He named them himself. They're the haves and the have-mores. They are the wealthiest and most powerful people in the country. They own controlling shares in the biggest multinational and defense corporations. He has catered to them almost exclusively. He has appointed people who toady to them as heads of every federal agency. He has cut their taxes. His policies have enabled their stocks to at least double and triple in value every year he's been in office. And among that elite group, just happen to be all the millionaires and billionaires in Congress. Impeach him? They'd like to immortalize and enshrine him. Never before have they seen anyone who had their interests so much at heart to the exclusion of everyone else. Did I mention that they also own and program the central tabulators which, no matter whether the ballots are cast on paper or on machines, tally more than 80% of American votes? That they also own the mainstream media? I support impeachment. But I know we won't get it until we have some heads on pikes. Not necessarily the entire 19%. Five percent should set a sufficient example to enable the rest to either change their ways or go into exile. But since neither I nor anyone I know happens to own a pike, and most of us aren't young enough, strong enough, and wouldn't know how to wield one if we did, I'm not holding my breath. by
