Will the Whining EVER end? Or, how I am SO tired of the whining that I am going to whine too.

Veterans day. An opportunity to take pause and think, if only for a brief moment, about those men and women who perished so that we may whine and abstract about how the world is horrible place, and how “progressives” are smarter and better than the rest.

Yeah, the world is a dynamic, complex and often cruel place. There is a simple reason for that, it is called the human race. Humans are a youthful species, thus, immature. With immaturity comes indulgence of ego, anger, and vengeance, thus, it is predictable that bad things will happen where ever humans go. Now that we understand that we are the problem, here is what I suggest so that you can better enjoy the brief time that you have on planet earth living as a primitive species.

Lighten up! It seems as if the parents of baby boomers forgot to tell their offspring that it is an ever violent world upon which they will reside. It is imperfect, and unfair. Cruel is often an appropriate adjective when describing human interactions. And since there is much malevolence around the world, there are often times when violence, greater, smarter, more effective violence must be utilized so that the first mentioned violence can be temporarily quelled. And temporary is all that can be hoped for, because if you remember, we are a primitive species that just loves to repeat the cycle.

Failing to lighten up places an extreme burned on the emotions and causes normally intelligent people to appear as one dimensional whiners. Yes, soldiers die in Iraq. It is a horrible nightmare, but it is no less horrible than dying at the hands of a drunk driver on an American highway. At least in Iraq they are dying for a purpose. A purpose that lesser minds suggest to be an inappropriate action in which to be involved. If Iraq is unworthy, then what is worthy of our time, money, and blood? Did you think that a guarantee from the heavens was going to be presented to the human race validating that a war against an quasi enemy was correct or not? War is at best an imprecise venture within which much validation is provided as to our primitive nature.

One recent article here complains about Dabaya visiting a service member who had his “face burned off”. (Yer this same article ignored the burned off faces as a result of murderous drunk drivers.) Remember, it was our primitive nature sixty five years ago that allowed America to continue. That continuation lead to the baby boomer generation, which has lead to the present day collection of whiners that accepted all that was easy and convenient about life in America, which could only have happened as a result of American service members killing off our primitive enemies in vast numbers. We even burned off a few faces, many actually.

So the question begs, having lived in horrible cruel America for the last fifty plus years, and having taken advantage of every privilege and convenience; how does someone whine about another war for oil, and then jump into their petrol fueled automobile; drive to work on roads that are regulated by computer systems designed by companies that also produce war machines; eat foods in restaurants whose grills and furnaces are fired by petro fuels; and then return home and sit in a warm house heated by petro fuels, and type into a computer a whining complaint about the worlds imperfection, while NOT THANKING the men and women who died face down in the mud so that the potential for whiners to whine could be preserved? Oh yeah, the companies that made your laptop also produce guidance systems for cruise missiles, laser guided bombs, and battlefield software. How, does someone do it? Clueless is my guess.

Just lighten up. Be thankful that Veterans did what they did, so that we have the freedom to whine in wrapped in petro warmth.

A writer is a rogue goose. All other gees fly in a flock formation; every goose knows his place and time for honking. The rogue goose is undisciplined. He leaves the formation indiscriminately to have a look at it from aside. He roams back and forth, takes a peep at the leader, honks a little bit from behind, distracts everyone and writes on what he sees. Time passes and as he wants to return back to his place he discovers someone else there. Thus he either has to wait until they land for rest...

Shut up, will you

1. I am  on  this site since Y2004 and so far never read even one whining article. There is a lot of rage, lots of desire to make this country better and a lot of love. No whining here.

2. And if there are  people who  express their discontent it is much better  than to develop a chromium blood and rant about your own lack of compassion. BTW that compassion is the one  which gives us a right to whine if we want. Not that we do.

Now  let Rob Kall   reprimand me for rudeness.   I don't care in this very  case.

Geery lived off the grid for 15 years in an earth-sheltered, solar heated home, while his kids learned in school that solar energy isn't feasible. NAPTA hosts a page on Geery's foibles in education, and explains how he got his butt fired from a tenured teaching position. Here's a short clip of his most recent solar contraption; for more on that project, and Geery's contention that the Wright Brothers took a wrong turn, please visit his airship page (hyperblimp.com). Have you got a problem...

with changing the human race? It's what a great many teachers dedicate their lives to, every day in the classroom (not to mention writers on this website). I did it for twenty years and happened to witness considerable success.

Maybe you'd rather go back and live in a cave--where fortunatley, a long time ago, there were a few progressives who didn't particularly like the status quo.

You are okay with this then are you?

"since there is much malevolence around the world, there are often times when violence, greater, smarter, more effective violence must be utilized so that the first mentioned violence can be temporarily quelled."

So your strategy in the game of life is to escalate and refine the effectiveness of your violence so that you may gain a temporary repreive from others violence?

There are just over 300 million Americans in a population of over 6 billion people. Sure a lot of those 6 billion are currently politically divided but then without the rule of law so are the 300 million.

56 years on this jumpin' green sphere. Musician. Own and operate a music store to help kids find a possible life long friend. I believe in the soul and the search. Happily married w/ 2 boys. Published songwriter. play bass, piano and gut string guitar. there are no solutions..only alternatives. Ask questions. Listen. Be fair and don't expect. Baseball is a mirror. Don't ask....unless you have time and a sense of humor. Peace is never easy, but worth it. Always.

Lighten up you say?

Dear Mr. Strait,

"At least in Iraq they are dying for a purpose".

What purpose Mr. Strait? Did Osama and/or Saddam sign the Patriot Act, or Presidential Directive 51, or the Military Comissions Act? Who is 'Our' government at war with sir? Got a clue yet?

"War is at best an imprecise venture".

True. Especially if you're the one sent to fight it. Odds are you will never know beyond the 'we are good/they are evil' b.s. what you are in fact fighting for. Then perhaps you will be sent home spent, wounded inside and out, or simply as a statistic.

Good enough for you James? Not good enough for me.

I too get tired of all the hyperpole, the endless rants, and yes, the whining. But for the love of whatever you choose to love, please don't compare honest frustration, or baby boomer parenting skills, or empathy for those who are being used, lied to, discarded and/or left to tend their own wounds................ with the amount of history you chose to ignore.

       lighten up. Indeed.

Lighten up is the best Choice

While not an officially sanctioned mystagogue, I will suggest that in a word, the world is at war with Islam. All of Islam is radical. Jihad makes it such. Subtract the tenet of Jihad from Islam and all that is left is a misogynistic one dimensional theology. Not a good thing, but at least not murderous.

Did our nominated enemies sign agreements? Nope....and it does not matter. If we are only going to make bad people go bye-bye when granted their permission, then get ready to kneel a ridiculous number of times per day while facing Mecca.

The worry should not be about them, it should be about how our actions impact US. We do need to refrain from becoming monstrous in the pursuit of slaying monsters, and we do need to safe guard the fundamental precepts that define our way of life. But, it is going to be messy for a long time, not matter who captains the ship.

So yes, lighten up...it's better for your emotional health.
