An Open Letter to Al Gore, John Edwards, and Bill Richardson by James Brett Page 1 of 1 page(s) |

Our country has been assailed, bludgeoned, insulted, raped, and humiliated by the Cheney and Bushite Republicans and we must not let our golden chance to rid ourselves and our country of these people go aglimmering because of the intransigent ego of the Clintons. The arithmetic of the situation is plain enough. Hillary cannot possibly win the nomination by any democratic means.
We are asking you to step forward as a group, putting aside each of your personal ambitions, to state publicly that you believe the time has come to rally around the campaign of Senator Barack Obama to defeat the Republicans utterly and completely. This is not the time or place to debate the minute differences between the candidates; it is the time to recognize that one of them has a commanding lead and the other seems to be willing to do and say anything to tear him down. We are proud of the high road Senator Obama has taken and we are ashamed of the low road that Senator Clinton has recently adopted as her own.
Stand up Al, John and Bill, and bring this dangerous foolishness to an end.

The Clintons
First, I was surprised when Bush danced his jig while waiting for John McCain at the White House to formally endorse the Republican Nominee. He indicated to the Press that he had had fun being President. I wish we had had as much fun as he did these past almost 8 years. To the point: If Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic nomination, my feeling now is that I will vote for McCain. Reason: He ran a fairly clean campaign agains formidable odds, and has been on the record as opposing ultra-conservatives in several issues during his tenure as Senator. Clinton, on the other hand, is starting to depress me with some very underhanded and blatant attacks on Obama's character, motivations and abilities. Clinton will not win the Presidency in a run against McCain, as she has already laid the groundwork for potent counterattacks against her. by Daniel Broggel (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 3 comments) on Thursday, Mar 6, 2008 at 7:19:10 PM

Open Letter
I wonder why we have to be in such a hurry to have a candidate? Bobby Kennedy was killed in May. I think it is time to have a national primary election so that everyone has a chance to vote for the candidate of there choice. By the time Michigan had their first say 3 people had dropped out. Frankly I don't like either Obama or Clinton. It took 4 years for my body to react to almost screaming when I heard w's voice and they earned the honor in just a few years. I just wish we could have Al Gore. by beccy (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 87 comments) on Saturday, Mar 8, 2008 at 10:26:45 PM

Reply: Good Point
Your point is excellent. The DLC runs the show, and of course the primaries (now causing the big controversy in Florida and Michigan) were front loaded to help the democratic "establishment" candidate. However, things did not work out as planned, and now the Florida and Michigan folks are blaming the DLC for "not seating" the delegates from these States. We are playing the Republican's game, but the Democrats are not nearly as organized or ruthless to play this game well without tripping all over themselves.
