Pledge to Support the Democratic Party by Howard Dean Page 1 of 1 page(s) |

But when the dust settles and people like you pick our nominee, the real challenge will begin. This time, though, it won't be a debate of ideas with fellow Democrats. It will be against a Republican machine eager to redeem its losses in 2006, fighting to extend George Bush's policies for another four years.
We've all seen the way they run campaigns, so we have to be unified and ready. We know that the Republicans are going to come at us with every scam they think up to suppress the vote.
In the past, they've abused robocalls that hide their true identity, jammed the phones Democrats used for getting out the vote, and purged voters from the voter rolls. We need to be united in order to stop them.
Stand up and show our candidates, our opponents, and the country just how strong the Democratic Party is by joining me in a pledge to support the Democratic candidate for President in 2008 - no matter who wins. When we have a nominee, they'll know that thousands of Democrats from across the country are united - even if they may not have supported them in the primary.

Every one of the Republican front-runners - Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee and John McCain - would continue President Bush's failed policies. America can't take a third Bush term, but that is all the Republicans offer.
They believe that President Bush's war in Iraq is a success. We believe that it's time to bring our troops home.
They support President Bush's pardon of White House Aide Scooter Libby. We believe in widespread ethics reform legislation to clean up the mess in Washington.
They agree with President Bush's veto of children's health insurance funding. We believe that no parent should have to worry about whether or not they can afford to take their children to a doctor.
No matter who you plan to vote for in the primary, there's one simple fact we can all agree on: Any one of our candidates will be better than four more years of failed Republican policies.
Pledge your support for the Democratic nominee in 2008, and then ask your friends to do the same. Everyone - from the nominee to the media to the Republicans - should know just how many people are behind our candidate this year.
Help us make a big statement:

You must be kidding!
Vote for 'business as usual' Democrats? Not this girl. The establishment has gamed us long enough with their illusion of choice. We know who they work for and it's not us. I'll vote for a Democrat who deserves my vote, and none other. by Laudyms (0 articles, 1142 quicklinks, 10 diaries, 708 comments [138 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Wednesday, Jan 2, 2008 at 9:00:53 PM

What Party?
Why would I or anyone else want to support the Democratic party when they have not supported "We the people" against Bush/Cheney? They were given Congress over a year ago to end this "war" and impeach Bush/Cheney and all they have done is feed more billions into Bush's greedy paws. They cannot even find the table! Neither party has shown that they care about this country or her citizens one bit. I am all for sacking both parties and having a Liberal, Conservative, and Moderate setup so "We the People" can at least have a better idea of who we have to vote for. by Hayesml47 (6 articles, 0 quicklinks, 4 diaries, 540 comments [10 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Thursday, Jan 3, 2008 at 7:07:05 AM

Impeach Cheney, then get back to us.
Support the Constitution Democrats, do your job, end the illegal war in Iraq, bring the perpetrators to justice or get out of our house. Impeach Cheney by all owners (1 articles, 58 quicklinks, 4 diaries, 144 comments) on Thursday, Jan 3, 2008 at 8:11:43 AM

Dean must surround himself with YES people
Where's the bumper stickers? Where's the "rabid" Hillary/Obama/Edwards supporters waving signs at events? Where's the billboards? I'm sorry Dr Dean, I don't see what you are talking about. I see allot of talk about Dennis and Mike Gravel and the injustice the DNC affords them. Apparently there is resentment as many folks are Democrats because of them. Look at the congressional popularity polls. You've got a slim majority and it's lower than Bush and Cheney's. This is what you call healthy? Dr. Dean. wake up. YOU personally worked and organized to block Nader from ballot access. Don't tell me about election rights, hypocrite! The Democrat party worked to block Nader from the ballot in FEAR. That's not leadership. Meanwhile, there is a rEVOLution going on. It began when Ron Paul entered the race, because the neocons who left to join the DNC to help Hillary weakened the GOP. That's not to exclude the Republicans discusted with Bush who left the GOP to help you extend the Bush Clinton dynasty. That opened the door to independets and third party leaders who joined the GOP to take this republic back to the Constitution and away from this US UN NWO war economy creating more global warming than the whole of Africa. Why are Republicans joining the DNC to vote for Hilary? Why are the neocons supporting Kucinich impeach Cheney act, and why is Conyers sitting on Downing Street memo? I have so many questions, and I don't want to hear, "Republicans" as the reason why your party LIES so much. Enough is enough. by Jeanette Doney (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 6 diaries, 307 comments [1 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Thursday, Jan 3, 2008 at 8:17:30 AM

A Better Idea
Address the pressing issues that confront our nation. The country is on the wrong track and citizens want their place at the table restored because we have seen where special interests have taken us. We've been on this path you propose for too long. I suspect that citizens will no longer bow down to parties who bow down to special interests. Bring some specific proposals to the table or fall into irrelevance. Some specific ideas to help with the process: by all owners (1 articles, 58 quicklinks, 4 diaries, 144 comments) on Thursday, Jan 3, 2008 at 9:00:38 AM

Yes, we have come some of the way
Thinking back on the Iowa primary four years ago, I realize that Democrats have become focused on the total picture and the candidates who will meet the challenge in November are diligent. Whoever happens to be seated in first and second place on that ballot will be worthy of support. More than that, the ones who don't make top spots will also be important in bringing the issues into perspective for the voters. So thank you, Dr. Dean, for your part in the process. There are a lot of bridges to cross before the fall election, not least of which will be the state of the economy at that time and the amount of progress Congress has made in meeting all challenges. I personally think that one of the most helpful things we voters can do in the meantime is to require a hearing on the impeachment issue. It is not necessary that all Democrats think the same on what should be the outcome of Congressional investigation, but I personally think the discussion of impeachment will be of help in clearing the air for the next president, whoever, to be ready in January 2009 to turn the country around. by Margaret Bassett (45 articles, 2910 quicklinks, 43 diaries, 1853 comments [99 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Thursday, Jan 3, 2008 at 7:32:18 PM
