Can We Fire These Clowns?

Is there a mechanism for removing/impeaching/recalling/firing federal senators or house members who are derelict in their duty, or who are incompetent, or who are not loyal to the interests of the American people? Just for example, congress members who won't allow impeachment to go forward or won't investigate 9/11?

Can any lawyer with expertise in constitutitional law shed some light on this question?

If the answer is "yes", then I say we immediately take action to remove from office all congress people who are impeding the will of the American people.

First you hold a tea party...

...then you declare independence. Then you form a colonial army. Then you kick their asses.

 Oh wait. That was then...

Uh . . .

the Administration is breaking every law on the book (illegal war, torture, illegal spying, failure to follow record-keeping laws and court order, leaking info on covert CIA agents, etc. etc. etc.)

Ask any constitututional lawyer and they will verify this.

Congress is not only acting like a co-equal branch of government, it is helping the executive branch cover up its crimes and, indeed, aiding and abetting those crimes.

AMEN!! I echo loudly that the need has never been more dire

George, you are so right. Thank you for posting this. Where "aiding and abetting crimes" is concerned and covering them up, the post-911 legislation is, in itself, such an attempt. To shut people up (no warrant/probable cause required for arrest, unilateral FBI powers to do so, etc) is the best way to cover up crimes. Ditto as regards granting immunity to the phone companies, to the Prez for torturing people, etc and opening up hte purse for a war based on lies----ie mass murder-----is a heinous crime of international proportions. Let alone the fact that Congress members act as "The Deciders", doing just as they please. While we pay them.

Clean Sweep and Pruning Shears are entities that are asking people to run for public office in order to challenge Congressional seats. Even if those people don't win their campaigns, the point is just to divert votes from the incumbents. Not a bad idea.

I think we should hurl mountains of letters to the editor to expose the wrong-doings of members of Congress. That way, people will know who to vote for and who to unseat from office with their vote.

Let the exposee begin, right now....let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me. By use of my pen.

SHall we, shall we??
BEst wishes everybody,
Kathryn Smith ps thanks again George for what you are doing. Hot dog!

I don't think there's any "legal remedy".

Unfortunately, it seems we're way beyond that point.

I used to hold out hope that one of the impeachment efforts going on in one of the various state legislatures would go somewhere...yeah right.

That those efforts were so handily stifled demonstrates the awesome hold on power our elites presently enjoy.

Yes, the corruption is just too damn pervasive, and, as if that wasn't bad enough, there are still far too many people, the small town folk, e.g., your neighbor, who simply refuse to see what's happening.

Let's face it, the majority of the people who inhabit the U.S. quite frankly deserve the government they have, and they deserve the disaster that they're likely going to get. The problem is that some of us don't deserve it, and the foreign victims of this government certainly don't deserve it.

If had lots of money I'd move out...but if you're just a person of average means, like I am, how the hell do you get out?

Well, you could move to mexico now.

Or you can wait until we become mexico--complete with rampant corruption, poverty, and third-world ethics--albeit along with a much higher cost of living and worse weather.

Our jobs will suck but the food will be much better.

Yes we can!

These political villains are our servants and our employees.  What do we do with servants who prove dishonest, let alone plain criminal?  We fire them, and if they are criminal as well we call the cops.

Then do it for heaven's sake.  Or set the dogs on them and drive them out of the house - particularly those with dual citizenship!

ONE BITE AT A TIME, GEORGE THATS THE TICKET, IF WE THE PEOPLE HIRE  CONSTITUTIONAL LAWERS, AND SUE EACH CONGRESSMEN  FOR DAMAGES TO THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICAN,  FOR NOT UP HOLDING THEIR OATH TO UP HOLD THE CONSTITUTION, AND MAKE IT A LAWSUED FOR DAMAGES, AND PICK THE ONES FRIST THAT ARE DOING THE BIDING OF KING GEORGE, THIS MIGHT MAKE THE REST OF  THEM THINK THAT THEY ARE NOT ABOVE THE LAW. MIGHT BE A WAY TO CHANGE THE TIDE.
