I was against this war before it started and continue to believe that we should not have invaded. Now that we find ourselves in a mess, we can't just quit and run.

The thing that gets me about all of this posturing is that Congress and the Senate are now pointing fingers like this is not their fault.

No one has pointed out, and I think Petraeus should have, in the past week that Congress and the Senate voted to authorize the President to turn loose the most powerful and deadly military force in the world on a country smaller than most of our states.

What did they think was going to happen? Surprise! Surprise!

Our army promptly destroyed the country, which is what they were told to do. Now that everything is in a shambles and a state of anarchy exists, as will happen in any country that has had its infrastructure and government destroyed, Congress and the Senate don't like it and they want General Petraeus to work a miracle with too little. They will continue to try to reduce his resources and this will go on and on and on as he continues to valiantly follow his orders. He needs more, not less.

Well, they did it and most of the American public wanted them to do it when they did. They say that they were misled by Bush and the intelligence that he drummed up. Well, yeah, but, in situations like this, you are the Senator or Congressman and it is your job to keep your head and do a little due diligence before you vote to destroy a country and kill a bunch of people.

Now that the war is over and we have transitioned to a policing occupant, we have two choices. We can continue to be involved in policing the country that we destroyed or we can leave them to their own vices.

I know that most of the Arab/Muslim world, including the Iraqis, was, at the very least, secretly happy that 9/11 happened so, I'm for the latter and I hope they all kill each other. But, I realize that what we would end up with is an Iranian influenced state with closer ties to Russia so, we can't do this. An idea I prefer is to just stand down, remain in place, keep outside influences at bay, and let the Iraqis fight it out. If we don't like what they end up with, we can go in and kick butt again.

You did this and now, you gotta pay. If you want this over with, give the General more, not less.
