Almost as immediately as I hit the "submit" button on my recent submission, "Scalia was right, 60 Minutes Stahl was not in re torture & 4th Amendment," than I recoiled at my gaffe: "cruel and unusual" appear no where in the 4th Amendment to the US Constitution. I misremembered that the phrase is ensconsed in the EIGHTH AMENDMENT, right between the amendment's last comma and only period. What makes the error both highly embarrasing and egregious is how I lambasted CBS' 60 Minutes hostess Leslie Stahl for being unprepared in her interview with Justice Scalia. That I have not the excuse of neither sleep depreivation nor dodging bullits in Bosnia, while jumping down the throat of others for their failure to own and understand the Constitution only adds to my sin.
