For those who are confused about who to vote for, below is a modified ballot that not only includes the names of the candidates, but a quick descriptive slogan describing their campaigns.

Republicans

John McCain: We must show Al-Qaeda and the world that we are king of the hill.
(I Like)Mike Huckabee: I’m the little Bush who thinks he can.
Mitt Romney: I am the Bush with a successful business history.
Rudi Giuliani: I am making9you an offer1you must not1refuse!!
Duncan Hunter: Mr. President, build up this wall--and our contractors’ bank accounts.
Fred Thompson: Can you see me running now?
Ron Paul: I am the Republican Dennis Kucinich

Democrats

Hillary Clinton: Happy 20th anniversary to the resume candidate.
Barack Obama: I have a dream and I will fill you in later.
John Edwards: I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I will blow the corporate house down.
Dennis Kucinich: I am the Democratic Ron Paul.

Independents:

Ralph Nader: Spoiler alert! In your heart you know I’m right.

Is it any wonder that Iraq has a higher percentage of citizens voting than we do? On the Democratic side, Edwards and Kucinich appeal to me. Edwards’ harsh rhetoric against the corporate world is not only needed, it ensures his defeat. In the good old days, you could not fight city hall. Now, you can’t fight the corporate world. They own our country and will decide our future. Isn’t democracy wonderful? In addition, any self-respecting Calvinist has to at least consider a candidate with the name John Edwards.

Dennis Kucinich is also saying what we need to hear. In the real world, strength, and survival, does come through peace; but the financial peace of many corporate campaign contributors does not come without strength. Thus Dennis is in the same boat as Edwards. In addition, Kucinich needs to borrow Obama’s John Malloy Dress For Success books in order to have as real shot.

Speaking of Obama, now that he has read John Mallow, he should reread Martin Luther King because King just didn’t tell us he had a dream, he spelled it out in HDTV format. His dream not only consisted of racial equality, he fought for peace and worked for livable wages. But despite his weaknesses, Obama has performed his designated job for the Democratic Party; his victory in Iowa was the slight of hand that magically tricked people into thinking they were not watching a coronation.

And speaking of Hillary, what can you say without sinning? She has the rhetoric of a Democrat and the authoritarianism of a Republican. She tells us to trust her because of her 35 years of experience at being the change. If I were her IRS auditor, I would ask for receipts to verify her claim. But you have to admit that she does have guts—or something. With a straight face, she publically criticized John Edwards for not getting his Patients’ Bill of Rights passed in the House of Representatives.

This brings up the Republicans. There is just no hope here. Their only criticism of George Bush is that he has neither been efficient nor effective. This means that all we can expect from these candidates is an invasion of Iran et al and the shipping of all remaining American jobs to foreign countries—thank big box stores for their low prices. BTW, the only American workers who are bringing foreign money into this country are our farmers, our weapons manufacturers (thank God for wars), and our entertainers. There is an exception amongst the Republicans here. Ron Paul has been the black sheep in the Republican Party with regards to America’s use of its military. Is there hope here? Unfortunately not! Once you listen to the Conservative Libertarian position of Ron Paul, you notice that the only people who have a colder domestic agenda than a Conservative Republican is a Conservative Libertarian.

This brings us to our Independent candidate, Ralph Nader. It is possible that he will step into the fray after the coronation occurs. His message is straight on and exactly what we need to hear. But he has two problems. First, voters from the home of the brave are tentative about stepping outside of the ballot box to vote for someone who is neither a Republican nor Democrat. Why? Because we don't want our vote to be wasted--which of course is far worse than having one's vote for Bush count. Second, like Dennis Kucinich, Ralph needs to read some John Malloy books in order to have a chance to win. That is not a criticism Ralph; it is our weakness.

Enough Is Enough

I wish people would quit looking to the President for domestic policy.  This is what gave us the oversized central government we have today.  Let's leave domestic policy to the communities, the counties and the states.  Better yet, why don't you take care of the people around you and I'll take care of the people around me?

If the corporations really do control or heavily influence our government (and I believe they do), I do not want all of the power in one easily paid for office.

Re: Enough Is Enough

One can want the President to have a domestic agenda without putting all of one's eggs in one basket. Bush, for example, has had a domestic agenda. That agenda is to direct the financial focus of our gov't from helping people to directing tax money to corporate friends. He does that through the war, through trying to privatize social security, through the medicare law that prevents the federal gov't from negotiating for lower prices with the drug companies.  He also does it through vetoing SCHIPS.

Just because the federal government does not have to  guarantee total care of each citizen doesn't mean it has to offer no care. We live in an interdependent society where it is impossible for us to be totally self-reliant. Therefore, we should look to care for others as we would have others care for us because tomorrow, we could be the one requiring care.

Think about your argument.

First of all any Presidential agenda will have to be executed by the Presidents Administration.  Hence, all the eggs will be in one basket since one man controls the whole.

Furthermore, I think you proved my point.  Social Security and Medicare are broken.  Thanks to the federal government.  They are underfunded and they don't cover crap.  And SCHIP will just be more of the same, give it time.

War and taxes are not domestic policy.

Obviously, there are those in need.  And obviously the federal government is inept at providing it.  I would just rather have the people who are closer to me provide that care when I'm in need.  But, if I must concede, I pray we keep it to a minimum.  These federal programs have a way of moving from a role of providing, to role of dictating.

I have thought about my argument

Just because the President has a domestic agenda, doesn't mean that all of the eggs are in one basket. The President can have an agenda but it is the Congress that passes laws. He has to run his agenda through Congress and thus his agenda can only be a guide to Congress.

Second, Social Security is only broken because the Federal gov't continues to steal from it to pay all of their other bills. If Social Security funds were only used to pay Social Security bills, the system would work as it is suppose to for years.

If we look at medicare, the reason why that is a problem is because it it is written showing more concern for the vendors than for the people it serves. This shows the legally corruptting influence that Corporations have over our gov't. And the reason why they can do that is because we preoccupied with being entertained by the TV rather than being engaged with our gov't.

Social Security, Medicare, and alike are written based on a mindset that has become an anathema to the Corporate mindset: that is that we should care for other people(Chomsky makes this point several times). Currently, the Corporate mindset has held sway which is why we invade countries without just cause and lose jobs here in America. The President's plan to boost the economy is nothing more than to funnel money directly from individual citizens into Corporate coffers(since they use near slave labor, the money will not go to American laborers) rather than from taxpayer to gov't to Corporarte coffers which has been the usual route.

We need to demand that our gov't puts people ahead of Corporations. The current approach will enslave this country regardless of the President's domestic agenda.

Truce

I've been thinking about this. You're obviously a man of his convictions, as am I, and that is commendable. Everybody has their own views on the size of government and the role it should play. To the point, arguing over social reform seems futile to me at time when our Constitution is being stripped away and our National Sovereignty is being eroded. I'll concede to the biggest fattest government you can muster up, if you'll stand with me to repeal the Patriot Act, amendments to FISA and several Executive Orders that compromise our Civil Rights and creates an unprecedented imbalance to our government. I'd ask for massive monetary reform as well, but I don't want to push it.

This is what our Nation needs, "we" must compromise and come together or divided this Nation will fall.
